Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 88.8 pts. and median of 88 pts. in 5 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Wingkof on 12/6/2015 & rated 89 points: nose is quite oaky, serious herby black fruit, cassis, cherry skin; taste is silky smooth, enough fresh acidity to stop it from getting cloying, very polished tannins, nice clean fruit, oak a little bit less obvious, 14% alcohol doesn't spoil this party; ends on the (good) sweet oak though; excellent new world style german PN, perfect right now.  Tasted by Daffo on 3/24/2012: Very good, popped and poured. (1457 views)
Tasted by Frommen on 3/21/2012 & rated 88 points: Sweet oak flavours interwoven with spices, roses and vanilla. Good and interesting, but perhaps a bit too influenced by the oak treatment. (1336 views)

#2014 Vintage Notes:
2014 Vintage Report by Terry Theise
2014 Vintage Report by Wine Spectator
"My gut still tells me the Saar (and to some extent) the Ruwer are better overall in 2014 than the more storied areas of the Mosel proper, but those that spent the requisite time living in their middle-Mosel vineyards made some of the most electric and "feathery" Riesling in a long time (maybe the finest in 20 years - yes, it's true!)" - Jon Rimmerman (Of course only a very short historical memory would call the Saar and Ruwer less 'storied' than the middle Mosel - jht)
