Tasted by VoiceofC on 1/13/2022 & rated 92 points: Against all odds, this was absolutely delightful, even after all these years. (585 views)
Tasted by lazloth on 12/29/2020: Spoiled (717 views)
Tasted by rjquillin on 5/13/2017: How long can this hold up? Still drinking nicely.

Mark, drink some or yours. (3056 views)
Tasted by ckeilah on 4/3/2013 & rated 87 points: Perfect companion to a curry turkey veggie medley. (7649 views)
Tasted by discombobulated on 3/23/2013: very pale. nose: perfume, hint of fruit - peach or pineapple. A little oily/mouthcoating with a little acid. Little or no fruit. Enjoyable, but not great. (7030 views)
Tasted by klezman on 11/18/2012: Nice, still going strong. Lemon and grapefruit on the nose, grapefruit and limestone on the palate. Strong acidity as expected from an Albarino and excellent weight. Too bad it's my last one. (8155 views)
Tasted by foobarski on 7/14/2012 & rated 88 points: Still quite good. Perfect with a dinner of pan-fried chicken tenders, homemade pesto, and corn on the cob. (7947 views)
Tasted by InShadows on 3/25/2012 & rated 82 points: Honeysuckle, apple, and a hint of honeydew on the nose. Very crisp and cuts through the buffalo wing sauce cheddar cheese I had. This did seem to get better with a year or two aging. I did not enjoy this when I opened the first bottle. Still not great though. (7471 views)
Tasted by discombobulated on 10/9/2011: Lots of life left, still fruity. Good stuff. (5482 views)
Tasted by aces219 on 8/22/2011: Tasted drier than last time as long as very cold. Flabby at warmer temps. (5409 views)
Tasted by BlackIce on 8/16/2011 & rated 86 points: My last bottle. Still vibrant and very delicious. Crisp and wonderful. No more to be had.... (4828 views)
Tasted by nlassow on 7/21/2011: Still going strong! One or two more to go. Sauteed onions and beer brats accompanied this very well in the late afternoon sun. (5062 views)
Tasted by BlackIce on 7/20/2011 & rated 87 points: Boy, this bottle shows it can actually get better. Very enjoyable over a 2 day period. A nice citrusy nose/taste and balanced with some sweetness. (4937 views)
Tasted by Parnelli on 7/17/2011 & rated 87 points: This keeps getting better. It went very well with the Japanese noodles with veggies and shrimp ... probably should have had a different entree since the USA just lost to Japan in the World Championship Soccer finals ... But the wine was tasting good! (5102 views)
Tasted by BlackIce on 7/6/2011 & rated 86 points: This is a well made wine. For the most part consistenty good. Very drinkable especially in hot weather. Nice and citrusy but well balanced. (5032 views)
Tasted by jersyko on 7/3/2011 & rated 86 points: Smashingly good with cookout food for Independence Day. (5129 views)
Tasted by oldsailor on 7/1/2011 & rated 89 points: Yum. Excellent this warm evening with some pasta alfredo (rice a roni version). Also nice sipping afterwards. Some complexity accompanies higher temp. (5282 views)
Tasted by aces219 on 6/23/2011: I liked this better last year. Now it tastes too sweet to me. (5172 views)
Tasted by BlackIce on 6/21/2011 & rated 85 points: This bottle was not so good chilled as prior ones. Although it did get much better as it approached room temperature. It is crisp and citrusy with a bit of sweetness. Combo of Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling to some extent? Nice sipping wine. (5114 views)
Tasted by oldsailor on 5/13/2011 & rated 88 points: Clean, tangy and crisp. Good fruit - acid balance. Better at room temp than chilled. Flavors are melon and apple.

Great alternative to chard and sauv. blanc. Good with light foods but better just sipping by itself. (6042 views)
Tasted by rmm on 4/5/2011: Used in cooking for a sauce - great replacement for chardonnay - I dislike the oak from chardonays, and unoaked chards are too expensive/good for cooking. Brings more flavor to cooing than a sauvingnon blanc or similar white wine. Rounded out the sauce with tree fruit and melon flavor as opposed to citrus (6380 views)
Tasted by richardhod on 2/15/2011 & rated 86 points: I got a t-shirt with this too. Good, popular and sprightly white (7096 views)
Tasted by richardhod on 2/15/2011 & rated 86 points: Well-made wine, if not that complex. A little too malic for me (tart and green) on the beginning of the palate, but once you can filter that out of yoru tastebuds it has a lot going to it in the flower and fruit department. good acid too. (7088 views)
Tasted by BlackIce on 1/21/2011 & rated 87 points: This Albarino is actually quite good. Nice citrus taste similar to a sauvignon blanc but softened by a chardonnay like feel. Maybe the riesling helped to balance this. I liked it very much. Strangely it paired well with egg rolls. Who would have thought. (6419 views)
Tasted by 10centpower on 1/17/2011 & rated 88 points: Consistent with prior tastings. (6537 views)

Albariño

Varietal character (Appellation America)

Albariño (Galician pronunciation: [albaˈɾiːɲo]) or Alvarinho (Portuguese: [alvaˈɾiːɲo]) is a variety of white wine grape grown in Galicia (northwest Spain) and Monção (northwest Portugal), where it is used to make varietal white wines.

Albariño is actually the Galician name for the grape, with Albarín Blanco an occasional synonym. In Portugal it is known as Alvarinho, and sometimes as Cainho Branco. [1]

It was presumably brought to Iberia by Cluny monks in the twelfth century. Its name "Alba-Riño" means "the white from Rhine" and it has locally been thought to be a Riesling clone originating from the Alsace region of France, although earliest known records of Riesling as a grape variety date from the 15th, rather than the 12th, century. It is also theorized that the grape is a close relative of the French grape Petit Manseng. [2]

It should not be confused with the Alvarinho Liláz grape of Madeira.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
