Lizzie St Supper Club (Lizzie St, London): Effortlessly smooth and elegant wine . Soft almost feminine if we could ,draw use of this old school term ,for a port and worked so well to close a beautiful dinner. Magical wine and a very easy 93 and really can live another 30 years. (224 views)

Requires a good decant, an hour we would say before serving. This is not a PnP wine and the second bottle we had of this on the day that was not decanted was clearly a lot more aggressive and sharp . So please decant.
Post the decant the wine relaxed, smooths out and has a lovely round, fleshy texture. We actually tasted this blind and went for tempranillo from Ribera del Duero . We should have picked the Portuguese link however as this had this porty edge to the fruit, from the heat and ripeness that adds that porty edge. Good wine solid 92-93 but please decant. (395 views)

From Paris with Love, 2023 Edition; 11/24/2023-11/25/2023 (Paris): Very few wines will arrive at the end of a line up like the one we had and still claim a spot on fatigued palates ( let alone the whole restaurant watching the show of it being opened with Port Tongs in the middle of La Tour D’Argent) and leave a lasting memory.
Ever so elegant and balanced, mellow not punchy or heavy albeit still full of energy and charm. Spice, rich fruit, cherries Mir Ethan anything, soft across from colour to palate for port standards and fulll of charm. A magical experience thought and through. 95 (550 views)

It was really hard work (Bentley's , London): A nice and well aged expression but nonetheless as many of its kin also a bit generic and just lacks an exciting/majestic feel that one would expect from a 40yr old bottle.
Natty, soft oxidative, light cocoa and caramel and with a lot of textbook notes. Very energetic but at the end leaves you with a feel of "is this all ?". Poor wine probably it needs to scream back at us " Are you not entertained?" . 90-91 (443 views)

Bright , steely and mineral , young and fresh still early on in its life , citrus, sweet citrus finish but the wine is bone dry and firm. A touch shy on the nose but we felt this could well age and who knows where it ends . We hope we meet again . 89-90 for now (275 views)

1995s & Friends (67 Pall Mall, London): The cork was on the border of giving way and our friend who brought it had it wrapped to prevent it from so. Cork came out solid and fully wet and surprisingly didn't shrivel in 1000 bits. Top shoulder level.
Testament to its beauty is that it arrived at the end of a long and strong wine lineup to tired palates and soft of sang. Soft, light, fragile in a way but very much spirited . Like a fruitcake in a glass our friend said wisely and indeed this is what it delivered. An easy 93 and a very good result. (1231 views)

Very light in colour , soft in colour but with a lot of presence and structure. Soft rich , powerful too and a very solid one across. Arrived late on a long line up though so this not a full TN. Still proper (313 views)

Tasted blind at Saddle, Madrid.
The first notes made us thing south of France , Banyuls etc but the excellent sommelier pushed us away a so we went with well aged ruby port as there was little evident oak. Surprise surprise this was tawny. Beautiful 92-93 still (823 views)

We argued if this was a funky Sherry but then in the end we went with Malvasia Madeira of 20yrs plus as the wine was sharp and with sharp edges ( definitely not a Boal) . Nutty and oxidative, rich and full of energy. 92-93 (488 views)
