wow! Finally I can undestand the buzz about this wine. I tried this 4 years ago and was a bit lost. Now, I tried again and really loved this one. Great nose, finally was able to imagine that I'm drinking red (Pinot Noir :-) ) and adjusted my brain right. Last time I struggled with the fact that white tastes like this.

Good time to drink now. I don't believe it will get any better. Bottle was opened about 1h before drinking and wine evolved nicely during drinking time. (1050 views)

electric banana yellow with green highlights, wild nose with apple, citrus peel, faint mountain cheese, beer yeast and licorice. Full mouth feel on entry but then becomes almost weightless with a dry finish. Excellent acidity. It settles down with time in the glass and warming. Much more sedate and food friendly after 45 minutes. Delicious at all points, but I think I liked it best right out of the bottle. Seems young, so who knows what will happen with more time. Wild and singular. My wife was less enthusiastic about this wine, so might be more geek appeal (1102 views)

A single-vineyard Nosiola, fermented and macerated with the skins for 8 months in clay tiñajas, after which the wine is moved to marry in old acacia barrels for a few months. 12% alcohol.

Moderately deep and concentrated lemon yellow color with faint green highlights. Expressive, complex and quite powerful nose with aromas of developed nuttiness, some acacia honey, a little bit of wizened yellow stone fruits, light tangerine marmalade tones, a hint of wild waxy character and an understated touch of bretty funk. Overall the nose is attractively sweet and even rather unctuous, yet not at all overdone. The wine feels full-bodied and textural yet not particularly big or powerful on the palate with nuanced, layered and quite ripe flavors of roasted almonds, bruised apples, some chopped hazelnuts, a little bit of white pepper, a wild and slightly spicy hint of phenolic bretty funk and a touch of herbal bitterness. The wine is moderately high in acidity, lending it good sense of freshness, balance and structure, further emphasized by a touch of tannic grip. The finish is rich, complex and slightly funky with layered and very persistent flavors of some wild, waxy and clayey tones, a little bit of leathery character, light mealy apple notes, a hint of wizened white peach and a touch of phenolic smoky character.

A beautiful, distinctive and very ubiquitous example of Nosiola. The wine is funky and it has obviously seen some skin contact, but it is still very nuanced, substantial yet delicate and immensely enjoyable - these are terms that are all too seldom associated with naturalist skin-contact whites. A beautiful wine in its own right, drinking remarkably well right now but also capable of developing a lot from here. Worth its price at 30€, highly recommended. (2010 views)

SLDS October 2017: Golden yellow coloured, with a slight cloudy element. Mango, stalks, lemon rind, musk and lychee. Fantastic texture with phenolics and rich fruit playing well together, plenty of interest and length on this. Unexpected and compelling. (2280 views)

Give it some air, it will open up beautifully...
Aroma's of honey, honeysuckle and floral notes, a little note of passionfruit, marsepain, toast, hazelnuts (roasty), lots of mineral accents, a little bit of sandalwood (not sure if this had oak), and earthy smell of the terracotta amphorae.
Also an amazing potential for cellaring.

Mineralsk og floral. Kalk, leire, blomster, litchi, hvit fersken, kjørvel og rå/uristet hasselnøtt. Subtil, men kompleks. Slank og elegant i munnen. Lys, konsentrert, ren frukt og flott friskhet. I think this is amazingly complex stuff. White flowers, honeydew melon, a precise palate that revolves around mineral salts, and then a long saline finish. Length, youthful, delightful. (2543 views)
