2020 Foradori Teroldego Cilíndrica Morei Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT (Italy, Trentino Alto-Adige / Veneto, Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT) 11/2/2022Ruminator

Trying to familiarize myself with Toreldego (a grandchild of Pinot Noir, a sibling of Dureza, an uncle of Syrah).

Deep purple color with ruby edge - very opaque.
Medium to full body. High acidity.

Scents of tar-like reduction, smoke, cedar, orange peel.

High acidity and dry fruit hints red fruits such as cranberry, pomegranate. But, the core of the fruit is much darker, like blackberry or black plum. Just that it's very very dry.

An anise note in midpalate. Crushed-rock minerality.

Finishes with floral and black tea note.

The texture is smooth and silky until some delayed-action tannin kicks in at the finish. (252 views)
