I was happy to get my hands on a bottle of this 31 year old TE cab. I've had his wines at age 15 and they showed so youthful. This one also is in great shape considering its age. The cork was perfect and the wine visually shows only slight bricking. There are violets, menthol and a bit of cigar box on the nose. On the palate, there is still a decent amount of fruit (although I imagine the fruit has faded quite a bit in the 31 years), along with fine, but strong and somewhat drying tannins. The acidity is balanced. There are also some pyrazines on the palate. The alcohol is 13.6%, which is refreshing to see. The finish is pretty long. It's a lovely cab that probably should be consumed soon, although it really doesn't seem tired at all. (525 views)
