Delicious! Poured night one with some hummus and pita .... Haven't decided what night 2 will be! (1129 views) | | Tasted by rmcnees on 3/21/2015 & rated 91 points: I normally don't get excited about a white wine but this was one of the highlights of our surf and turf dinner - a perfect accompaniment to lobster medallions and the salad.
The Darioush was butter colored, medium bodied, crisp and clean, initially slightly forward overtly acidic with tones of oak, but after an hour it settled down and was smooth, polished and balanced with pleasant layers of fruit - subtle pear, lychee, melon and slight hint of citrus and vanilla with just the right accent of soft smooth oak.

Holding up well for the age. (2004 views) | | Tasted by DecoEd on 3/23/2013 & rated 95 points: I'm truly impressed with the way this Chardonnay has grown up. (2570 views) | | Tasted by Kaerhoeg on 5/21/2012 & rated 89 points: Great classic American oaked Chardonnay. But not as good as the wine merchant had promissed. (2441 views) | | Tasted by KeithSurg on 1/23/2012 & rated 91 points: Interesting notes of honeydew melon and peach, followed by hints of butter and oak. Minerals, spice and acid on the finish. Paired well with food. (2451 views) | | Tasted by Mnametz on 8/3/2011 & rated 92 points: Great paired with heavy cream sauce. Lobster Newburgh. Rich. Full, multifaceted gold. (2470 views) | | Tasted by 1H2oMan on 4/26/2011 & rated 90 points: I was very surprised with this chardonnay very good (2320 views) | | Tasted by CultCabKing on 4/8/2011 & rated 82 points: nice nose, decent finish, medium oak. only in barrels 11 months so pretty light on the oak. (1029 views) | | Tasted by Mike Kopanski on 3/19/2011 & rated 91 points: I almost thought there was a hint of ginger on this wine. As I sipped (or is it drank) this wine, what I thought was ginger, was more toward a cinnamon nuttiness. Or maybe it was a touch of baking spice or nutmeg. Or maybe it is tangerine, or orange peel. But still, this is a complex, intense, ripe, and extremely tasty bit of wine. I love real Chardonnay, and we have that here. Golden color. Rich in the mouth, but still elegant, and not the slightest bit flabby. So balanced. Such refined and layered fruit, from pear through lemon to melon. There is a crisp sharpness to these flavors. Fruit driven, the oak and any lees treatment just float around in the background. Light on the lips, but heavy and memorable on the finish. Delightful, and I don't think it matters if this is chilled or not. (919 views) | | Tasted by kbhiggins on 12/27/2010 & rated 90 points: This was a great chardonnay. One of the best we have had. We prefer non-malolactic acit chards. Nice and crisp with a long smooth finish. This was best when served at around 45 degrees. | Darioush Producer websiteChardonnay The Chardonnay GrapeUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Napa Valley Napa Valley Wineries and Wine (Napa Valley Vintners)Napa ValleySt. Helena |
