Tasted by MateusPetrus on 9/22/2021 & rated 88 points: Delicious, but a little lighter than I remembered. (376 views)
Tasted by JERB on 6/27/2021 & rated 90 points: This is my fifth bottle of this wine in the past 17 months! I think what that speaks to is how approachable and enjoyable most of the wines from Ecluse are upon and shortly after release. Might it get better with time? I am not sure it would. It is a very solid and delicious blend of syrah, grenache, and mourvedre.

See tasting note from 2-1-2020 - very consistent! (380 views)
Tasted by JERB on 4/10/2021 & rated 90 points: Very enjoyable. Pretty useless tasting note. I liked it! (454 views)
Tasted by JERB on 11/20/2020 & rated 90 points: Excellent QPV! Unfortunately, I only got a little taste of this one. It is relatively light - it doesn't smack you in the face. But it was very enjoyable! (398 views)
Tasted by MateusPetrus on 7/16/2020 & rated 90 points: Yeah man, can’t go wrong with a Paso Robles GSM. Or with Écluse, for that matter.
Light plum color. Sweet spice aroma.
Light acidity and light tannins in the mouth.
Oak, vanilla, and cranberry sauce flavors.
Long finish into vanilla and nutmeg, very nice. (442 views)
Tasted by JERB on 3/2/2020 & rated 90 points: Consistent notes. (350 views)
Tasted by Susann61 on 2/26/2020 & rated 89 points: Nice tasty wine (264 views)
Tasted by JERB on 2/1/2020 & rated 90 points: One of the things I truly appreciate about the most all of the wines from Eclusé is their approachability in the early years of their release! This S-M-G blend was excellent! The syrah and the mourvedré give this an enjoyable earthiness. There are abundant flavors of dark plums and dark berries. The grenache gives it a baking spice lift along with some vanilla from the oak. very approachable. Very enjoyable! (294 views)
Tasted by Mountster27 on 12/23/2019 & rated 92 points: I’d like to tell you it opened up over an hour, but I don’t think it lasted that long. Balanced and lovely. Exactly what I needed at the time. (326 views)

Red Rhone Blend

Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines
On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.

A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
