Community Tasting Notes (average 90.5 pts. and median of 90 pts. in 8 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by ey1294 on 3/11/2024 & rated 91 points: - Light gold color with slow forming legs and aromas of lemon, peach and apple. It's balanced and has flavours of lemon and peach with a light body. Round texture with a medium finish. (164 views)
Tasted by wineordeath on 6/5/2023 & rated 89 points: This was good and I may be underscoring slightly. Medium to full body of ripe fruit with a touch of sweetness from phenolic ripeness and good length. Juicy acidity that tilts it to being more a food wine than something to drink on its own, but in that regard it works very well. (275 views)
Tasted by Caruso on 2/12/2023 & rated 92 points: Light golden. This has developed in a positive way during the last year, showing more concentrated fruit with notes of pears, melon, peaches. The notes from aging in cask remain in the backseat now. Medium intensity on the palate, nose is a bit shy now. Long fruity finish. Very well made. 5/11/17/9 (320 views)
Tasted by Caruso on 9/13/2022 & rated 92 points: Light golden. This shows a touch more fruit than some month ago. I like it, though it is not for the long term and it shows its élevage in new oak. 5/12/17/8. -2024+ (375 views)
Tasted by Caruso on 5/4/2022 & rated 91 points: Light golden. Of course it is showing its new oak, but it seems not unbalanced to me. For now it is very young with citrus, pears and touches of tropical fruit and vanilla. On the palate with refreshing acidity. On nose and palate I believe that it benefits from 6 month at least or better a year in the bottle. And that it is not meant for longtime cellaring. 2023-2026+ in a cool cellar. 5/12/16/8. For the offer of 13,28€ it is a bargain in my opinion. Normal price is ..., well Tuscany isn't known for its value, is it? (413 views)

U.S. Importer (Addt'l Info)

Producer Location (Google Maps)

This historic estate, which dates to the Middle Ages, was purchased by current owner Giuseppe Mazzocolin's father-in-law, Domenico Poggiali, in 1966. Winemaker Franco Bernabei draws on vines more than 50 years old from three vineyards-Fontalloro in Chianti Classico and the Casalino and Arcidossino vineyards in Chianti Colle Senesi-for this red. Because it straddles two DOCG zones, the wine is classified as Indicazione Geo-grafica Tipica (IGT). After fermentation, it was aged in barriques for 20 months.
