| Community Tasting Notes (average 93.9 pts. and median of 94 pts. in 15 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by Spookey on 3/18/2024: Huge crowd favorite even for people who don't like white wine. Wife said "buy more." Sadly, it was gone before I could get a taste. (613 views) | | Tasted by jviz on 9/4/2023 & rated 92 points: First glass was the best. Light golden color, with reduction and French oak signature. A little fat in the mouth, tropical fruits with some yellow peach, and I could go for more acid but it’s pretty nice. The VV is a noticeable step up (1610 views) | | Tasted by Suzyquatro on 7/2/2023 & rated 93 points: Heldere goudgele kleur - Neus van citrusschil en karamel - Romige textuur van citrus, wit steenfruit, ananas en kokos - Zéér lange afdronk - Zal nog gunstig evolueren de volgende jaren. (1305 views) | | Tasted by Bolzano2022 on 7/1/2023 & rated 92 points: Medium intensity on the nose / pronounced flavor Grape fruit, oil texture, guava, caramel, cough syrup (pleasant way), melon, (934 views) | | Tasted by gfwetzel on 6/25/2023 & rated 93 points: Extracted 1/2 bottle via Coravin. Drank after 30 min in the carafe. The color is a full straw yellow, hinting at weight to come. The nose has lemon and orange peel, peach, hints of caramel. The palate has a viscous almost oily feel with flavors of steely stone fruit and melon, with underlying savory herbs, vanilla, and creamy citrus. Very long finish that develops over a minute or more with some salinity expressed at the end. The wine has amazing body for a white and pairs well with dishes such as a roasted branzino with cherry tomatoes drizzled with grassy EVOO. ABV 14%. (1282 views) | | Tasted by merlotsmile on 5/8/2023: 43 Jermyn Street (1425 views) | | Tasted by kfrench150 on 2/13/2023 & rated 95 points: Perfect cork sealed under wax. Light canary yellow diamond colour. Very clear and crystalline. Beeswax, coconut, fleshy yellow plum, lychee and lightly caramelized sugar on the nose. Light but sweet smelling. Lovely mouthfeel! Round and full on the palate, almost oily textured, astringent phenolics, no noticeable tannins, perfectly integrated alcohol and soft acidity. No where near as sweet on the palate as the nose. Yellow plums with thick skins, lightly toasted coconut, light fresh herbs, a bit of steeliness and a nice astringency on the finish. A pleasant fresh and cooling sensation on the inhale after swallowing. Not a hint of citrus. A very different kind of white. Perfectly blended and almost indescribable in flavour, but utterly delicious and quite sensual! (1204 views) | | Tasted by Jeff Leve on 1/27/2023 & rated 94 points: Spring flowers, orange peel, yellow citrus, white peach and spice define the nose. On the palate, the wine is lush, creamy and also interestingly, loaded with fresh, bright, crisp citrus with a touch of peach in the finish. Drink from 2022 - 2032. (1429 views) | | Tasted by Elpaninaro on 12/15/2022: medium yellow color, melon and rose petal on the nose, also a white mineral note that is stern to the point of being sharp, on the palate viscous and textured, creamy citrus, honeydew, firm minerals, a certain crystalline purity about it, good length, rather intense when it first crosses the palate- but at each stage through the afterfinish it softens, and becomes more lush and intriguing.
**(**), drink soon and/or be prepared to hold it for quite a while (1266 views) | | Tasted by MAXIMUM SATISFACTION on 9/8/2022 & rated 95 points: Very nice from the start. Almost new world Sine Qua Non like but at a steal $80. Oily texture and waxy fruit. Pineapple, stone fruit/apricots, vanilla, mineral, almonds and honey. Very full bodied and ripe but balanced. If this bottling is to this cabler I can only imagine how good the VV is. Not cheap but an underrated wine. (1742 views) | | Tasted by kfrench150 on 5/7/2022 & rated 94 points: Burnished golden yellow. Almost oily texture that coats the glass and then developes slow legs. Fleshy yellow fruit, crystallized honey, beeswax, lanolin and vanilla on the nose. Full bodied, unctuously textured, very round and soft in the mouth. Flavours of candied pineapple, buttered almonds, white apricots, bitter almonds, and a pleasant tingly bitterness or astringency from the phenolics on the long and effortlessly creamy smooth finish. One supple and sensuous wine! (1555 views) | | Tasted by VinoExplorer on 5/2/2022 & rated 93 points: The nose is tropical perfume of apple and ripe melon. A full bodied wine that is already so approachable, the palate has a with good balance of rounded tannins and freshness that makes it an elegant summer party wine.
80% Roussanne blend with Grenache Blanc and Clairette. (1205 views) | | Tasted by Poisey on 3/19/2022 & rated 96 points: Soft and elegant and approachable now with an ability to age. Great structure and balance. Medium bodied with concentrated flavor's of pineapple, sea marl and toasted almonds all wrapped up in a beautiful oxidative overtone. Long finish with a waxy mouth coating aftertaste of hot stones, white pepper, honey, lemon and limes. Fantastic now but probably even better later. Drink now-2033. (1237 views) | | Tasted by Jeff Leve on 1/16/2022 & rated 95 points: Richly textured, with nuances of sweet pineapple. lemons, flowers, and orange rind with buttered nut accents that come through with no trouble on the nose and palate. Already accessible, you can enjoy this on release. Drink from 2022 - 2034 (3900 views) |

"As I have written many times in the past, the sweet spot for drinking Châteauneuf du Papes is usually the first 5-6 years after the vintage. Then they seem to go through an adolescent, awkward, and sometimes dormant stage, only to re-emerge around year 10-12, where the majority of wines are often fully mature. The best of them will continue to hold on to life (but rarely improving) beyond 15-20 years. It is only the exceptional Châteauneuf du Papes that will evolve for 20-25+ years, and those are indeed a rarity. However, things may be improving dramatically in terms of the longevity of Châteauneuf du Pape, although Grenache-dominated wines, the vast majority of wines produced in the appellation, are wines that do not have the polyphenol (extract and tannin) content of top Cabernet Sauvignons, Merlots, or Syrah-based wines. Nevertheless, the younger generation in Châteauneuf du Pape has taken seriously the farming in the vineyards. There are more organic and biodynamically run vineyards here than in any other appellation of France. The yields, which were already low, are even lower today (20-35 hectoliters per hectare), and of course, the proliferation of top luxury and/or old-vine cuvées gives a significant boost to the number of wines that will evolve past 25 or 30 years. The advantage of these wines is their broad window of drinkability." - Robert Parker
