Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 89 pts. and median of 89 pts. in 7 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 5/14/2024: 200 year old pre-phylox vineyard. Huge in everyway, especially tannins and acidity. Lay it down for the next 20 years, unapproachable now - to me. I don't think I've ever had a tighter wine. Would be interested to see what its like on day three. (146 views)
Tasted by mschechter on 3/25/2024 & rated 88 points: Getting more life. Hopefully just needs more time (180 views)
Tasted by Bolzano2022 on 2/9/2024 & rated 90 points: Raw, sour cherry and tomato, high acidity, savory note on the palate. (206 views)
Tasted by tomoem on 10/9/2023 & rated 88 points: A rather light aromatic expression which found me really looking for anything until my nose hurt. In mouth light and frankly watery. I get the elegance sought but this wine delivers very little to nothing. More like an 85 - or lesser wine. Giving this the benefits from a doubt because it as much young despite its 7 years of age. Give it another 3-5 years. (433 views)
Tasted by mschechter on 7/17/2023 & rated 90 points: Better than in the past - still needs age/time (411 views)
Tasted by mschechter on 3/8/2023: No idea how to score this. Still too young, and still tastes “thin” to me. Probably needs tons of time (471 views)
Tasted by mschechter on 1/3/2022 & rated 89 points: This is too young to drink. Gave it a full day, and still very tannic. A little thin as well - hoping its just age, we’ll see (736 views)

Aglianico

Varietal character (Appellation America)

The Southern Italy Outpost (on the CellartTracker Forum)

Originally from Greece and an early Roman favorite, Aglianico was planted as early as the seventh century B.C. Infused with interesting aromas of plums, raisins and licorice. Dried floral notes flow easily into the medium to full-bodied palate of black pepper, smooth, subtle cherry, and plum flavors.. A stylish, intriguing young red, with fine tannins and a ripe balanced finish.
