Tasted by grapenomad on 5/15/2024 & rated 92 points: This is easily the best Sauvignon Blanc I’ve had from the States. Usually they’re either over-oaked or too fruity + the price never justifies the quality. It’s barely justified here either, but hey, when you’re tasting blind, that pretty much falls out of focus. Here we have very well made white with good depth, great fruit concentration and moderate complexity. The bright acidity brings the fruit up to the highest levels. Would’ve never said it’s a 2018, tastes as if it was bottled yesterday. (141 views)
Tasted by spectrumphoto on 4/15/2024 & rated 93 points: A Great SB especially for Chard lovers. Expect a full bodied and lively SB with a great and extended mouth feel. (165 views)
Tasted by Barry Notes on 11/17/2023 & rated 93 points: Wine Experience Pairing Dinner: Slightly chilled, clear, bright med straw color. Bigger nose. This is a wonderful wine and one of the best domestic SB I've had. Clean, bright, intense, full flavored, slight oak, huge acidity and fresh. Completely fooled me vintage wise. Excellent wine and nothing off.
Retail $40, sale $34 (386 views)
Tasted by gteran76 on 7/10/2022 & rated 90 points: Better than previous bottle. Double decanted and consume about one hour later. (1910 views)
Tasted by acyso on 6/5/2022 & rated 83 points: Vinetasters: This and That (Chicago, IL): Served double blind. Unpleasant sauvignon blanc notes on the nose coupled with some sulphurous reduction does not make for a good combination. Ungainly with its fatness and oak but also carrying the thinness of sauvignon blanc just doesn't work for me at all. Heavy-handed extraction and pretty discernible high alcohol further detract.  Tasted by Jessie and Max on 3/31/2022 & rated 91 points: A repeat buy and one we like to share with company. Some nice complexity that makes it appealing even to people (like Max) who don't usually like Sauvignon Blanc. (1631 views)
Tasted by dmvatl on 3/18/2022: Pale lemon in color. White floral aromas (honeysuckle, jasmine) with fruit elements of lemon and pink grapefruit.
Medium acidity/nice balance - creamy full body texture.
Citrus flavors (honeybell?) orange/lemon/grapefruit, (slight tropical hint) on the palate with good minerality. Med+ Finish, Complex wine!

Winemakers Notes:
56% Sauvignon Musque, 34% Sauvignon Blanc and 10% Semillon
Whole-cluster pressed, the juice was fermented in a variety of vessels. French oak barrels (6% new; 63% neutral) bring a depth to the body and a hint of oak spice, while Acacia barrels (4% new) add a complex floral spice on the nose.
Egg-shaped concrete fermenters (14%) add richness to the palate while retaining fresh aromas, and stainless-steel barrels (13%) maintain the purity of the fruit. Semillon adds a round mouth-feel to complement the vibrant and tangy Sauvignon Blanc.
Lees stirring enhances weight and complexity. (1765 views)
Tasted by ElJefeTX on 3/4/2022 & rated 92 points: Rich and weighty mouthfeel balanced nicely with a firm presence of acidity. Fresh notes of lemon meringue, citrus, ripe pear and wet stones. A great example of a well-made California SB. (1723 views)
Tasted by BadOyster on 1/16/2022 & rated 89 points: Nose of petrol, tropical fruit. Palate of bright pineapple and a chalky lemon pith finish that lasts quite a while. Nice salinity and acidity. A dollop of creamy lemon meringue throughout - maybe some malolactic fermentation. A more appropriate balance of power and finesse than recent NZ SB I had. For reasons unrelated to wine (Operation Varsity Blues), I hate that i like it as much as I do. Appropriately priced in the mid-30’s that I found at Whole Foods: not worth the $40+SH from winery.  Tasted by Stoic Warrior on 12/5/2021 & rated 88 points: Light straw colour, yes, but heavy on ripe white fruits and with a high acidity palate. Taste lingers as intense and creamy. An SB, yes, and well made according to the winemaker's intentions, but very, very Californian. (1130 views)
Tasted by Lee Fining on 11/11/2021 & rated 90 points: Light straw color. Big grapefruit nose and flavors. Hints of grass around the edges. Acidity was noticeable even for a Sav Blanc. This is a big wine. At the “look at me” end of the SB spectrum. (1039 views)
Tasted by zg08 on 9/3/2021 & rated 89 points: Have had before but this bottle took a good hour to come together. Didn’t feel balanced to start (too much acidity) but got better through the night. May let the next sit open for a few hours before drinking. (1212 views)
Tasted by studleytrey on 8/31/2021 & rated 91 points: Light yellow color, slight greenish hue. Lean nose with apple, pear, lime, and minerals. Medium body, medium (+) acid and finish, with flavors of lemon, apple, pear, bit of creamy viscosity which I'm digging, and minerals. Nice one. (1126 views)
Tasted by BluffViewWines on 7/5/2021: Outstanding wine (1319 views)
Tasted by ScubaSommelier on 5/17/2021 & rated 92 points: A beautiful Sauv Blanc, finished in acacia barrels. Balanced acidity and tropical fruit notes. Great wine. (1491 views)
Tasted by fkteeter on 4/17/2021 & rated 98 points: Simply the best white wine I've ever tasted. It noses like really good Sancerre and tasting follows similarly, with notes of traditional CA sauvignon blanc quite apparent. Creamy. Simply delicious. Really, really delicious. (1388 views)
Tasted by gew71walsh on 3/11/2021 & rated 88 points: Nice, crisp—grapefruit on palate. Paired well with grilled shrimp. This is a nice, everyday sort of wine (1092 views)
Tasted by timothynbond on 3/2/2021 & rated 89 points: Translucent straw. Nose of fresh melons. Medium bodied with medium-to-medium-plus acid. Rich mouthfeel with flavors of melons and strawberry juice. A little bit of heat on the finish but that improved with air. Day 1 we had it with a lemon-date chicken and the wine could not stand up at all to the sweetness of the dates, leaving it tasting thin and bitter. Finished the bottle with a more neutral lunch the next day and the wine was much more enjoyable, and offered some lemon-lime flavors. (1236 views)
Tasted by scastleman62 on 2/13/2021 & rated 93 points: Citrus, lemon, effervescent- very enjoyable

Paired with a iron skillet grilled Golden Tile whitefish, stir fried rice and bacon/Brussels sprouts (1063 views)
Tasted by jaydublax on 12/24/2020 & rated 92 points: Delicious. So glad we stumbled upon this at our local wine shop! Great for Xmas eve dinner! (986 views)
Tasted by bigredPA on 9/20/2020 & rated 91 points: Loads of stone fruit, a little under ripe grapefruit, mineral. Very soft around the edges, balanced , nice mouthfeel. (1194 views)
Tasted by Winning_Wines on 7/20/2020 & rated 93 points: More oak than the 2019, but was really quite coming together well. Notes of melon, citrus, hints of oak all part of a really great medium-bodied wine. Drink before 2026. (1147 views)

Sauvignon Blanc

Varietal Character

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson

North Coast

The North Coast American Viticultural Area (AVA) in California, covering more than three million acres, includes Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake counties, and portions of Marin and Solano counties. (see The Wine Institute for more information)
