Tasted by franinnyc on 4/13/2024 & rated 88 points: Just ok for me. Maybe hold a bit longer (1206 views)
Tasted by vvWine.ch on 3/1/2024 & rated 93 points: (72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot. 2026-2042 (Januar 2024) (1595 views)
Tasted by Tim Heaton on 2/2/2024: Slow-O two hours. A solid showing for what's now defined by many as a value wine. Contextually, of course, that's true. Sigh. A decent enough sense of place at present, but while this was enjoyable (thanks to all the freshness and tasty black fruits, etc), I consistently had the feeling this was keeping a fair amount close to the vest. I'd love to revisit in 5-8 years, as I think there are even brighter days ahead. recommended (2165 views)
Tasted by WineGonzo on 12/17/2023 & rated 91 points: Hit the spot. Just fine for the price. (2230 views)
Tasted by pikemasterflash on 12/6/2023: Really good tonight. I feel like it is fruity, smooth with a reasonable finish. Given that I have finally pulled myself out of '09 pricing, this is a pretty good QPR. (2222 views)
Tasted by Barolo Freak on 11/2/2023 & rated 88 points: My first time tasting a Latour Martillac, and I'm on the fence. I decanted and strained, there was a bit of fine sediment in the bottle. I poured and I was surprised that it was open for business. There is a decent amount of fruit, and tannin is not a factor. Is it worth $40 a bottle? Only time will tell. (2466 views)
Tasted by benny-g on 9/12/2023 & rated 92 points: Dark fruits, blue and black and mature, are obvious in the nose, where these are joined by gentle floral notes. The mouth feel is rather soft and friendly, later, towards the end joined by somewhat dusty tannins. But not before some spicy and vanilla notes appear. This all makes for a good complexity and also a fine balance, even if I usually prefer more acidity.
Will it improve in the next couple of years? I see drinking windows from various reviewers from 2025 onwards. I don't think waiting will be truly rewarding for this one... (2458 views)
Tasted by Chrysostomus on 8/15/2023 & rated 93 points: Very good! Fruit forward wine which is not overextracted, still refined. Very fresh - silky tannins. Blue- and Blackberries on the palate. Really beautiful wine, great QPR! (2608 views)
Tasted by tstork on 4/9/2023 flawed bottle: corked (1037 views)
Tasted by dmaura on 3/15/2023 & rated 87 points: Trop de tannins, meme apres decantation. Sans doute trop jeune, a laisser vieillir. (1361 views)
Tasted by Peraix on 2/11/2023 & rated 90 points: Better day two. (3803 views)
Tasted by Everything Ahead on 12/11/2022 & rated 91 points: Wasn't as impressed by this as much as by the 2018 vintage. Still, a very nice wine with a vigorous double decant and even better the next day. Not as aromatically promising as the '18, but some nice licorice and spice notes to go with the plums and dark fruits. I'm sure in time it will come together, but my tastings thus far have me a little perplexed by the '19 vintage overall vis a vis other recent ones. The '19s overall are crunchy with new oak peeking out awkwardly and a little hollow in the midpalate. The '18s I sampled last year tended to have such warmth and aromatic complexity at the same age (on release), I wonder if '19 will ever be up there with '14, '16 or '18 ... For pure pleasure it is '14 and '18 for me at the moment, but I imagine the '16s and someday hopefully the '19s will come around ... (4328 views)
Tasted by pavel_p on 12/3/2022 & rated 90 points: UGC 2019 Singapore (Singapore): More pronounced wood / oak compared to Larrivet HB, also tannins more present. Needs time to integrate. 90+ (4126 views)
Tasted by df1962 on 11/26/2022 & rated 90 points: PnD.

Tasty approachable with tons of life ahead. (3399 views)
Tasted by John McCabe on 11/8/2022 & rated 93 points: Had a six pack of these so tried one. I love this Chateau - has been making great wines recently in particular and I've been buying a few from each vintage. Consistently great with black and blue fruit, some creme-de-casis, licorice and led pencil. One of my favorite value Bordeaux around this price-point. (3020 views)
Tasted by Salute on 10/30/2022 & rated 90 points: As others have said, a young wine at this point. Very nice however, good acidic balance. I will buy more at this price point and be patient for several years. (2152 views)
Tasted by grafstrb on 10/13/2022: -- decanted 1.5 hrs before initial taste --
-- tasted non-blind over 2 hrs. --

NOSE: dark-fruited; scorched earth; somewhat reserved/moderately expressive.

BODY: dark violet color of great depth; medium to medium-full bodied.

TASTE: fine, drying tannins; noticeable oak; non-descript earthy dark fruits; bitter (children's chewable aspirin); still pretty oaky 3.5 hrs after opening, and pairing it with steak didn't really help in any regard. Best to Hold for now; hopefully cellar time helps the oak calm down some. Less impressed with this vintage than I was the '15 and '16. (2103 views)
Tasted by Motz on 10/6/2022 & rated 91 points: Over three days.

Obviously, very young, and also seemingly unsettled, in part on account of overt alcohol, listed at 14.5. Otherwise, Pessac-Léognan terroir featured beautifully. Brawny, a shade over-the-top, not this wine's hall mark. It really needs time. Improvement seems possible, once it fleshes out. (3209 views)
Tasted by Purple Tooth on 7/2/2022 & rated 92 points: A big contrast from the rich 2018, the 2019 CLM comes in more reticent, elegant, and correct to its usual form. It is soft, earthy, and shows good tension giving room for some improvement in the bottle. As to where the 2018 drank well in its youth, I think the 2019 should be held for at least 5 years. HOLD_ (3631 views)
Tasted by aero on 6/29/2022 & rated 92 points: Supple, refined with many layers. This is closer to the elegant 2015 and 2016 than powerhouse 2018, and may develop more complexity than all. Black-and-red fruit and berries, dried tobacco leaf, smoke, cooking spices. Morish brightness. The lingering finish displayed unusual specific sensation of powdery clove and allspice not found in any 2019 Bdx at UGC tasting. Excellent quality and house expression for the price. 92-94 (2742 views)
Tasted by Jeff Leve on 3/29/2022 & rated 94 points: Showing even better from the bottle than it did from the barrel, the nose pops with dried flowers, blackberries, black cherries, tobacco, smoke, and a touch of cocoa. The wine is soft, refined, elegant, and richly textured with layers of ripe, sweet, supple, ripe dark red fruits. There is length, elegance, and purity. This should age quite nice well. Drink from 2025-2040. (3889 views)
Tasted by vvWine.ch on 1/13/2022 & rated 93 points: 93 vvPunkte (72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot. 14.5%. 2025-2040. vvWine.ch (2886 views)
Tasted by vvWine.ch on 5/22/2021 & rated 92 points: 91-93 vvPunkte (72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot) In der Nase Tabak und dunkle Früchte, krautig, Weihnachtsgwürze. Im Gaumen dicht, zeigt Kontetration und Fülle, bleibt ausgwogen, saftig und endet langanhaltend. Tolle Leistung! 2026-2040. (Juni 2020) (2576 views)
Tasted by englishman's claret on 7/8/2020 & rated 90 points: The 19 La Tour Martillac is very Pessac in its profile, with a potent black cherry, loamy, slightly smoky profile. Rich and supple but still lovely and well balanced, this should prove to be a nice expression of Pessac at a fair price. 90-91 (4846 views)

Red Bordeaux Blend

Red Bordeaux is generally made from a blend of grapes. Permitted grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and rarely Carménère.Today Carménère is rarely used, with Château Clerc Milon, a fifth growth Bordeaux, being one of the few to still retain Carménère vines. As of July 2019, Bordeaux wineries authorized the use of four new red grapes to combat temperature increases in Bordeaux. These newly approved grapes are Marselan, Touriga Nacional, Castets, and Arinarnoa.

Wineries all over the world aspire to making wines in a Bordeaux style. In 1988, a group of American vintners formed The Meritage Association to identify wines made in this way. Although most Meritage wines come from California, there are members of the Meritage Association in 18 states and five other countries, including Argentina, Australia, Canada, Israel, and Mexico.

History of Bordeaux

History of 1855 Bordeaux Classification

"2009 is all about ripeness, with wines impressively packed with ripe fruit and high alcohol levels. They are showy, in-your-face, and full of pleasure. The 2010s have the fruit and alcohol levels of the 2009s, but with a compelling freshness on the finish that balances the fruit and provides a perfect sense of structure." - Ben Nelson

"2016 is a landmark vintage in certain spots of Bordeaux and it should be remembered as one of the most inspired campaigns of the last 40-50+ years." -Jon Rimmerman
"The quality of red Bordeaux in 2016 was universally lauded – although the response to the en primeur campaign was muted. Quantity was high too, with the equivalent of 770 million bottles of wine produced. An exceptionally dry summer with cool nights eventually, thanks to mid September rain, resulted in small, thick-skinned, ripe grapes, and the wines are marked by high tannin and acidity, with superb aromatic fragrance." - Jancis Robinson

"2017 was complicated, but there are some excellent wines. Expect plenty of freshness and drinkability from wines that will offer excellent value, and others that will rival 2016 in terms of ripeness and ageability. But they are likely to be the exception not the rule, making careful selection key." - Jane Anson

"In the past, a vintage such as 2022 may have been overripe, raisined and low in acidity but 2022 had a sneaky little reservoir in its back pocket - a near perfect marriage of cool/cold/rain the previous winter and the previous vintage that literally soaked the soils (a key to why 2022 is not 2003...or 1893)." - Jon Rimmerman
