Tasted by seekingbalance on 2/1/2024 & rated 91 points: Consumed over Rack of lamb dinner while skiing. Over 1 week ago, divided 5 ways so limited report.

Not decanted, but opened and sat, and aerated during pour.

Certainly still full of fruit - not an old wine yet, at 17+ years old.
Note my bottle reside in a real, Northeast, cellar. Not temperature controlled, but mostly subterranean.

Fairly typical CDP, both red and dark fruit, very subtle tannin, minimal sediment, good though not strong acidity (remaining).

Sorry for abbreviated notes. (465 views)
Tasted by Grinner on 12/30/2023 & rated 92 points: Lyon Holiday Open House (Where Else?): Denise's WOTN, it's in a great spot! It has a garnet rim and an open nose that is very savory (like the CSJ it was paired with). A bit of a rustic texture, there's black cherry, garrigue, iodine, and a little "sangre de toro"! Tannins are still holding, now-2027. (557 views)
Tasted by Supercuts on 10/30/2023: Yes, the fruit and acidity were fading, but the balance was still there and the palate was full of lovely CdP notes.

The importer label indicated "12-14%" ABV, which must be a joke. I could believe it was 14%, but not less. The alcohol was there, but it wasn't unpleasant or hot.

The nose is licorice, cranberry, earth, and just slightly sweet. The taste matched, adding herbal notes and perhaps eucalyptus. The fruit was on the drier side, definitely taking a step back with the age.

Overall, this was a pleasing CdP showing good typicity and proper aging.

Sadly, didn't survive the 2 weeks after the initial coravin - too much air :( (582 views)

Tasted by oropeza on 1/31/2023: Second bottle is much as last year's; primary fading but still there, tertiary present, tannins integrated, acidity is still around... this is in a perfect spot age-wise. (1085 views)
Tasted by oropeza on 7/23/2022: Red fruit up front (cherry jolly rancher), thins out on the core and keeps tapering towards a finish on acidity. Simple & straightforward and tasty. (1363 views)
Tasted by OldwineinVT on 4/29/2022 & rated 90 points: Garagiste selection 15%ABV

Color: red-brown
Nose: light intensity. Complex aromas of dried dark fruit and berries
Body/flavor: medium body. Complex flavors -- dried dark fruit predominate; well-balanced. Still has good acidity
Aftertaste: lingering fruity finish

Served with leg of lamb (1370 views)
Tasted by MS86 on 2/23/2022 & rated 85 points: 60% Grenache. From the north part of the region.
- Clear, medium ruby, significant fading at rim
- Very subtle. Austere. Worn leather, dusty floors and subtle cinnamon heart.
- Quite hot and tannins are chewy and chalky. Nice acidity but overpowered by the alcohol.
- Flavours of cherry cough syrup, coffee and alcohol.
- Maybe better in time but rough and out of balance now. (1518 views)
Tasted by Sperls on 12/26/2021 & rated 92 points: Surprisingly good for its age. Ruby/brick color, herbs/tar/mint and white pepper and alcohol on the nose, darker fruits and herbs on the palate w secondary characteristics. Short/medium finish. Won’t get better though I’d say so drink now/soon. (1552 views)
Tasted by SMHalps on 12/22/2021 & rated 87 points: Disappointing. A one note, fruit heavy wine. Comparing it to the Grand Veneur and La Ferme Du Mont (all 2007s), was like comparing a clog dancer to Fred Astaire. The Milliere was clunky. I enjoyed my previous bottle (almost 6 years ago), so I wonder if it over the hill now, or I got a bad bottle. I have a few more bottles left, so I'll get a chance to find out. (1370 views)
Tasted by lvjohn on 6/8/2021 & rated 93 points: Very fine! Nicely balanced and tasty wine. It's drinking well right now. (1685 views)
Tasted by hospad on 12/15/2020 & rated 93 points: Dark ruby, very little sediments, earthy ,wild flowers, cherry, dark berries, well integrated tannins, smooth elegant. Good aftertaste.Very enjoyable. (1776 views)
Tasted by StainedGlass on 10/5/2020 & rated 88 points: I liked younger versions of this wine. The fruit has faded but the secondary characteristics are not that compelling. It is medium bodied with mostly red fruit. 12-14% abv (1801 views)
Tasted by nickuk on 9/7/2020 & rated 91 points: The secondary are coming to the fore on this tasting. Smooth and developing woody. cedar-like notes, but with a lightness of touch. I wish I had been patient as I have only 3 left....decanted and drank from two different glasses. I liked the riedel pinot glass and my visitor preferred the Bordeaux. The lightness and yet depth in the middle palate suited the pinot glass to me. (1562 views)
Tasted by gew71walsh on 5/3/2020 & rated 90 points: This has progressed since my last tastings approx. 5 yrs. ago. Fruits are integrated, some woodsiness and spice. This probably needed those extra couple of years. A nice medium finish. Went well with a beef bourguignon. (1894 views)
Tasted by FiggySmalls on 2/21/2020: mostly in line with previous notes

-yes there's some detectable alcohol but not in an uncharacteristic way for CdP
-nose is fairly shy, almost disappointingly so. PnP in my case
-no real apparent indications of "age" on my bottle. Not much bricking, very little sediment (some on the last pour), some oxidation of the fruit, but not very much oxidation and definitely no off-putting pruny/figgy dried/cooked fruit apparent in many older warm vintages

verdict=drinks like what a younger high-alcohol/high-fruit CdP wine SHOULD. fun (1817 views)
Tasted by nickuk on 2/16/2020 & rated 90 points: Opened and decanted an hour before our hot day bbq. This was a pleasant surprise as the ‘heat’ evident a couple of years ago has smoothed into a deep broad glass of cndp. On this evidence it will cellar for a while yet and I look forward to the next one (1568 views)
Tasted by apple1813 on 10/23/2019 & rated 90 points: 2007 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Tasting at Winetasters of Toronto Club (North York Memorial Hall): 2007 Domaine La Millière Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes was clear and medium ruby in colour with a thin amber rim. The Rhone blend displayed aromas of sour cherries, herbs and toffee. The mouthfeel was medium-full bodied accompanied with some bitter austere tannin and medium-high acidity. The medium finish was quite simple.
The personal rank was the sixth out of eight wines, and the table rank was the fifth.
The blend composed of 60% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 10% Mourvedre, 10% Cinsault and 10% Counoise, with an annual production of 500 cases. (2107 views)
Tasted by winepog on 2/14/2019 & rated 89 points: Drinking well but a little hot. Some dark fruits and other flavors present. Very good but a touch out of balance. (2140 views)
Tasted by lvjohn on 12/11/2018 & rated 94 points: So much better than I remembered past bottles. Fine nose of red fruits and a bit of spice. Tastes of complex red and dark red fruits with a hint of spice. Great mouthfeel and aftertaste. (2245 views)
Tasted by jeffreylubowski on 5/20/2018 & rated 90 points: One of the many 2007 cdp i bought before I knew I actually didn't like the vintage. This one wasn't bad though. Definitely big and on the hot side at 15%, but not obscenely so. Plum, provencal herbs, floral. Thick and dense. Lots of dark sweet fruit. Old vines maybe didn't get as roasted in 2007. (3364 views)
Tasted by OldwineinVT on 2/24/2018 & rated 90 points: Color: dark red
Nose: Medium intensity; complex dried fruits; some minerality; touch of
alcohol
Body/flavor: medium-full; complex; dried berries and fruits; well-balanced
with acid; tannins not noticable.
Aftertaste: medium finish.
Served with lamb stew -- terrific pairing (2853 views)
Tasted by StainedGlass on 12/21/2017 & rated 91 points: Dark and more full bodied black fruit and plum dominated flavors this my last bottle from July. Star anise or black licorice spices. Improved with with time in the decanter. 60% Grenache and 10% each of Syrah, Mourvedre, Cinsault, and Counoise. (2787 views)
Tasted by Viking 61 on 11/27/2017 & rated 92 points: Seems at a good time to pop. Took about 30 minutes to open up, and went great with an elk based sauce over pasta. Smooth rich ripe black plum that finished with black cherry and final notes of tart strawberry. (2817 views)
Tasted by patwjr on 8/3/2017 & rated 90 points: Better than my last 2 bottles. Still med-light weight, yet the fruit is a bit richer & more present this time vs. too mature. Seems more in line with the 2020 drink window, though I suggest you don't wait to drink this wine. (3374 views)

Red Rhone Blend

Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines
On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.

A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.

"As I have written many times in the past, the sweet spot for drinking Châteauneuf du Papes is usually the first 5-6 years after the vintage. Then they seem to go through an adolescent, awkward, and sometimes dormant stage, only to re-emerge around year 10-12, where the majority of wines are often fully mature. The best of them will continue to hold on to life (but rarely improving) beyond 15-20 years. It is only the exceptional Châteauneuf du Papes that will evolve for 20-25+ years, and those are indeed a rarity. However, things may be improving dramatically in terms of the longevity of Châteauneuf du Pape, although Grenache-dominated wines, the vast majority of wines produced in the appellation, are wines that do not have the polyphenol (extract and tannin) content of top Cabernet Sauvignons, Merlots, or Syrah-based wines. Nevertheless, the younger generation in Châteauneuf du Pape has taken seriously the farming in the vineyards. There are more organic and biodynamically run vineyards here than in any other appellation of France. The yields, which were already low, are even lower today (20-35 hectoliters per hectare), and of course, the proliferation of top luxury and/or old-vine cuvées gives a significant boost to the number of wines that will evolve past 25 or 30 years. The advantage of these wines is their broad window of drinkability." - Robert Parker
