Tasted by Barry Raterink on 12/13/2015 & rated 92 points: Opened and drank over 5 hours - got better the whole time. Great blackberry and currants, juicy mouth feel, long finish. Love the Seghesio Zin's. (1904 views)
Tasted by usbeauty on 12/22/2012 & rated 89 points: Forward fruit, supple, long lingering finish of dried fruit and alcohol lended complexity. Drank with spicy Thai curry; not a great match. I waited about 2 years too long on this one. (3464 views)
Tasted by rshumard on 6/15/2011 flawed bottle: - Brick color with medium forming legs and has flavours of phenolic - Drank with Kermit on 6/14/11 w/ pizza (4356 views)
Tasted by plecky on 1/2/2011 & rated 90 points: I thought this would be done...but still very good. Very balanced. Another bottle I "found" as I got my inventory together. (4781 views)
Tasted by PaGrotts on 12/24/2010 & rated 90 points: Good Depth - getting a little tired but still enjoyed. (4791 views)
Tasted by buckeye76 on 11/13/2009 & rated 93 points: RICH BLACK CHERRY AND RASPBERRY FRUIT IN THE NOSE AND FLAVOR. NICE COMPLEXITY, GREAT LEGS, AND A LONG FINISH. (256 views)
Tasted by sfsuzie on 5/26/2009 & rated 86 points: Bummer. Waited a bit too long on this one. Still ok - but not the wine I remember - most of the up front berry is gone. (3710 views)
Tasted by BoulderWine on 2/13/2009 & rated 86 points: Medium color; subdued, dark fruit aromas. Dark fruit, slightly overripe flavors, but well balanced. I think this is past its prime, drink up. (2608 views)
Tasted by JuliannaD on 1/13/2009 & rated 86 points: Not much flavor, Ok, but expected more. (2544 views)
Tasted by blaiseiii on 10/25/2008 & rated 92 points: Wonderful. (2645 views)
Tasted by Haggis on 2/19/2008 & rated 91 points: Loaded with black berry, chocolate, coffee, and tannin. I should have held onto this last bottle for another 2-3 yrs! (2799 views)
Tasted by michelvl on 1/5/2008 & rated 93 points: Perfect. Drink now for another 2-3 years. (2778 views)
Tasted by michelvl on 6/14/2007 & rated 92 points: Still sharp and hot. Good wine, wonderful nose but time should heal the discrepancy between nose and palate. (2949 views)
Tasted by Arcturus on 8/23/2006 & rated 90 points: Deep dark hue, concentrated flavor of prunes, chocolate, tobbacco and black cherry-almost shiraz like. A little tart on the finish, a result of the thick tannins, delicious. (3526 views)
Tasted by SacredCow on 3/22/2006 & rated 91 points: Decanted about three hours. Floral, raspberry and blueberry notes scream from the glass. On the palate, blackberry and black cherry dominate, with a long, sweet, tannic finish. Still a lot of life left in this one. (3464 views)
Tasted by zinslurpie on 2/26/2006 & rated 90 points: Wonderful nose of wild berry fruit pouring out of the bottle. Great color. Plenty of life left in this wine, with quite a bit of tannin and some heat noticable right out of the cellar. Warmed up a bit, it opens spectacularly with briary fruit on the palate and a nice lengthy finish. I love this proprietor's zins! Dare I say it was a perfect match for my wife's meatloaf (even she agreed!) Hopefuly I'll get more of that and she'll let me buy more of this wine! (3584 views)
Tasted by texaswino on 8/30/2005 & rated 91 points: Ripe and rich berry and black cherry fruit. Plenty of structure with hints of tobacco and mocha on the finish. Seghesio is a consistent winner in my book. (3839 views)
Tasted by michelvl on 5/31/2005 & rated 93 points: Needs at least a year to lose some of its sharpness. great nose (4041 views)
Tasted by eksata on 5/20/2005: Purple hue, this wine has been filtered, medium weight. Pretty ripe black cherry, with a little floral-violet. Very round in mouth hints of mocha an tobacco leaf with some nice focused cherry fruit. This is a lighter elegant styled Zinfandel. I would definitely purchase this again. (3750 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
