Tasted by curtr on 4/3/2024 & rated 93 points: Great pairing with Ravioli. Fully ready. Drink by 2027. (320 views)
Tasted by Buick455 on 12/31/2023 & rated 93 points: This was very nice. Not much age showing. Still feels young and time to go. Needs air. Lots of cherries. Medium to long finish. (404 views)
Tasted by paris_pub on 12/23/2023 & rated 95 points: Powerful yet elegant; good to go, no decanting needed (366 views)
Tasted by tedcholl on 11/1/2023 & rated 93 points: Tart dried cherry, well worn leather, tobacco, mushroom, and Montalcino terroir! Lingering finish. Drinking beautifully now. (514 views)
Tasted by Joshvoulters on 6/27/2023 & rated 94 points: The winemaker describes this as ‘baroque’ which I don’t fully understand, but it sounds awesome and I’m stealing it. Becoming complete but nowhere near its peak, this is excellent. The high-toned elegance and delicacy Fuligni’s wines exhibit in their youth are here swathed in tertiary notes of tobacco, leather and liquorice - adding depth and body without overwhelming the purity and drive of the red fruit profile. Sweet cherry and fresh raspberry, some mint, a touch of eucalyptus. Tannins are present but becoming resolved, and the acidity is bright, almost cutting. It finishes fresh and long. (921 views)
Tasted by manski on 6/13/2023 & rated 97 points: Purchased directly from Fuligni while in Italy. I want to drink this every day of my life. Goodness... this is just a classic Brunello that is so nuanced and well done. Red Fruit on the front palate with notes of lavender, chalky minimality and tobacco on the back end. This is just everything I want in a Brunello, and this has a ton more life left in it. Outstanding. (601 views)
Tasted by Buick455 on 5/6/2023 & rated 93 points: Decanted 2 hours. Needs air. 5 years since last bottle. Dark red opaque color. Dark red berries, cherries, spice, a hint of plum. Long finish. (496 views)
Tasted by tedcholl on 4/7/2023 & rated 92 points: A Producer I continue to explore, this time an aged BdM Riserva. Resolved tannins and well integrated oak. Tart dried cherry, old leather, tobacco, mushroom. Glad to have a second bottle of this. (563 views)
Tasted by Rbhan12 on 1/16/2023 & rated 94 points: From magnum. Took 2h or so to open up but wow. Amazing structure, slightly drying sour cherry, leather, clay pot (maybe?), touch of medicinal herbs, dried scorched earth. Outstanding wine drinking beautifully now. (904 views)
Tasted by sjp1323 on 10/28/2022 & rated 94 points: Excellent and well worth the wait! (621 views)
Tasted by eatdrinkrepeat on 2/6/2021 & rated 92 points: Very pretty and expressive nose. Aged beautifully still with red fruits. Nice structure with good acidity and some remaining tannin. Long finish. (2457 views)
Tasted by Dave Canada on 10/7/2020 & rated 93 points: Pretty flowers, sweet spice, maraschino cherry, savoury herbs, plum, freshly tilled earth, bitter chocolate, grilled meat and blood.
Palate is svelte....regal almost...great texture, balance and depth of flavours.
Finish is long...pretty wine. (2496 views)
Tasted by schan109 on 3/22/2020 & rated 92 points: Decanted for 45 minutes. Good cherry nose, and relatively balanced palate with some power. Medium to long finishing. Drinking well now but could wait for another 3-5 years (2452 views)
Tasted by James Kim on 12/21/2019 & rated 90 points: A Night at Momo's (Momo Italian Kitchen, Dallas): Ripe blackb cherry aromas with plums, herbs, and a bit of garrigue. A fib of acohol as well. Palte with nice acids, cherries, plums, herbs, earth, and a bit of mild cough syrup and mild oak. Expressive and enjoyed this. (2942 views)
Tasted by Waedi on 9/7/2019 & rated 93 points: In the beginning ok nose, but very harsh tannins and seemed past its peak. After 2 hours open the wine came together and was great and balanced for drinking. (2782 views)
Tasted by portman63 on 7/21/2019 flawed bottle: Corked. Came off as just funky on opening, but TCA had taken over when we started to drink a couple of hours later. (1937 views)
Tasted by larsth on 12/30/2018 & rated 93 points: Nice classic Brunello in a good spot although no hurry. Great balance with clear fruit, integrated tannins and the right Sangiovese acid - great with food. (2039 views)
Tasted by MicklethePickle on 11/1/2018 & rated 92 points: Open one day. Well-developed rusty, ruby-red. Fairly viscous. Nice red cherry fruit in the nose. Smooth as glass in the mouth, but still has plenty of fruit stuffing. Gritty tannins are very well integrated. Very tasty stuff, and in its plateau of maturity, with plenty left in the tank. 5-13-16-8: 92/100. (2133 views)
Tasted by BigBoy_Sonoma on 10/30/2018 & rated 94 points: Dried currant, cherries, cedar, pepper,
Smokey oak. Nice depth of flavor. A/A- (1960 views)
Tasted by Buick455 on 6/9/2018 & rated 92 points: Slow ox for 1 hour. Opaque dark brick red color. Lost of cherries, red fruit, earth, tar on the palate. Medium to long finish. (2138 views)
Tasted by Italiana on 3/28/2017: Fairly tart, not much fruit left. (3680 views)
Tasted by chablis28 on 1/5/2017 & rated 93 points: This was the other stand out wine of the night for me. I like Zweder's recent TNs and descriptors so I won't plagiarize them :). Just want to add that this wine has "Grand Cru" stuffing and elegance. This is going no where but up. Might have to seek some of these out. Has some of the richness of a CA Cab but with a lot more old vine depth and lift. Feels pretty weightless for as concentrated as this is. In the past I've mostly felt like, "what's the point of buying a BdM Riserva?" This convinces me that a little extra cost and oak isn't always a bad thing. This is the best wine I've ever had from Fuligni. 93+pts (3703 views)
Tasted by rocknroller on 1/5/2017 & rated 93 points: A Potpourri of Great Wines at Alma (Restaurant Alma, Mpls): Very dark red color. PNP, drank 1 glass over an hour. The next in a series of wonderful wines was this beauty. Very nice depth and concentration, dark cherry, earthy, violets, oak, luscious tannins and a long finish. This is just coming into prime time drinking. I'll echo Chablis28's comments as well. Spot on. 93+pts. (4234 views)
Tasted by Zweder on 11/7/2016 & rated 94 points: Weekly tasting group RWP #235: Tuscany (@ BS): Fairly transparent garnet red. In the bouquet dark berries and cherries, chocolate, roses and some salty minerals. On the palate juicy acidity, some chocolate, autumn impressions and well integrated tannin. The wine is perfectly ready now and no hurry at all. A textbook example of a harmonious, classical made wine with great freshness. 93 – 94 (4075 views)
Tasted by Claret & CdP Gang on 10/4/2016 & rated 93 points: Lovely sexy Brunello, cherry, coffee, lovely weight & balance, drinking well now (3357 views)

Sangiovese

SANGIOVESE: (Pronounced "sahn-joh-vhe-se").
Sangiovese - Italy's claim to fame, the pride of Tuscany. Traditionally made, the wines are full of cherry fruit, earth, and cedar. It produces Chianti (Classico), Rosso di Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino, Rosso di Montepulciano, Montefalco Rosso, and many others. Sangiovese is also the backbone in many of the acclaimed, modern-styled "Super-Tuscans", where it is blended with Bordeaux varietals (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc) and typically aged in French oak barrels, resulting a wine primed for the international market in the style of a typical California cabernet: oaky, high-alcohol, and a ripe, jammy, fruit-forward profile.[16]

Semi-classic grape grown in the Tuscany region of Italy. Used to produce the Chianti and other Tuscan red wines. Has many clonal versions, two of which seem to predominate. The Sangiovese Grosso clone Brunello variety is used for the dark red, traditionally powerful and slow-maturing "Brunello di Montalcino" wine. The other is the Sangiovese Piccolo, also known under the historical synonym name Sangioveto, used for standard Chianti Classico DOC wines. Old vine derived wine is often used in the better versions, needing several years ageing to reach peak. A third clone, Morellino, is used in a popular wine blend with the same name found in the southern part of the province. Recent efforts in California with clones of this variety are very promising, producing medium-bodied reds with rich cherry or plumlike flavors and aromas. Among the available clonal versions are R6 and R7, derived from the Montalcino region of Italy, having average productivity/ripening and producing small berries on medium size clusters. R10 and R24 are well-recommended. R23, listed as deriving from the Emilia-Romagna region, has good vigor with medium-small clusters with earlier ripening. R102 derives from the Montepulciano region and reported to have average vigor with moderate productivity that results in higher sugar levels and good acidity from medium-small berries on medium-small clusters. Has synonym name of Nielluccio where grown in Corsica.
