Tasted by bluedog on 8/31/2023 & rated 95 points: In its prime (357 views)
Tasted by Maphill01 on 2/19/2023: Decanted for moderate fine sediment. Plum, cherry, very slightly grainy tannins. Medium+ body and acid. Beginning to develop some tertiary notes. Drinking nicely with a bit of air, should hold for another five years. 54/28/14/4 CS/Margot/CF/Petit Verdot. 14.5%, but holds it well. (608 views)
Tasted by BillyRayValentine on 6/7/2022 & rated 91 points: Still going strong. Excellent QPR. (1061 views)
Tasted by bluedog on 12/1/2021 & rated 93 points: Really delightful. Decanted for one hour, smooth, velvety, with nice body. (1345 views)
Tasted by bluedog on 10/26/2021 & rated 92 points: Really nice. (1337 views)
Tasted by WoodieBayArea on 12/1/2020 & rated 93 points: boy this was really nice on night one after about an hour of decanting (and over next two hours)... almost full bodied (thought it a 100% Sangiovese at first, but makes sense - given the 'bigness' - that is is an IGT blend... tasting both the Sangiovese and the Cab for sure, nice acidity, tons of reddish fruit, hints of spice and secondary in the background and a noticeably long long finish (which I usually don't pay attention to)... great QPR right now, only possible complaint was when I tried the last couple sips on night two it had some heat to it (was surprised to see 14.2% alcohol after taking a look... was expecting something near to or over 15%) (1708 views)
Tasted by DrZett on 5/9/2020 & rated 92 points: Dark berries, some dried leather and soft licorice notes on the palate. Fruity notes are still dominant but tertiary notes start to set in. Medium to full bodied. Nice complexity with a good freshness. Medium long and juicy finish. Really enjoyed this one. Decant it for half an hour. In a beautiful drinking spot right now. (1738 views)
Tasted by Sugarb on 2/20/2020 & rated 91 points: Continues to drink very well, great balance and a medium finish. (1626 views)
Tasted by mflesh on 12/22/2019 & rated 93 points: Perfectly in balance and ready to go. Was pissed that we floated this bottle so fast. Great dirty black cherry and terroir filled red wine that has a nice finish that is integrated perfectly. 9 years old and drinking perfectly tonight! (1798 views)
Tasted by Bruce’s on 11/10/2019 & rated 92 points: Superb with sauce (1546 views)
Tasted by BillyRayValentine on 11/1/2019 & rated 92 points: Agree with recent notes, although decanting time may be overstated. Opened up after 10-15 mins. Nice and easy. (1211 views)
Tasted by drummer on 10/11/2019 & rated 91 points: PNP did no justice to this wine, after reading my previous notes and those of others, I'll decant 30min-1hr next bottle. That's what I get for just grabbing a bottle heading out to a party w/o doing my homework. (1171 views)
Tasted by jeffreylubowski on 9/15/2019 & rated 93 points: QPR of the century at 35 bucks. All noble grapes except malbec. Doesn't come off as very Italian, but a great wine nonetheless. Made in a restrained style, medium bodied, black olive and earth and a bit of bell pepper. The cab franc really shone through. Tannins subdued and this is drinking very well. Not oaky, not hot, not in the modern style. Wish I had more. (1323 views)
Tasted by Rick 4 Wine on 8/1/2019 & rated 92 points: Solid wine drinking well here. Definitely improves with food and thirty minutes of air time. (1095 views)
Tasted by Slaz on 3/29/2019 & rated 93 points: Similar to a great Medoc. Needed some air; an hour of decanting helped much, it was completely shut down upon opening. Layers of flavors, with good earthiness and acidity, layers of fruit notes, and secondary notes too. Kept evolving over several hours. Drinks very well with some decanting. Excellent. (1143 views)
Tasted by drummer on 3/21/2019 & rated 93 points: Very interesting as it unfolded. Initial pour was very compressed and concentrated with almost bitter tannin. Over 4 hr it developed licorice, black cherry, and hints of clove, with a unique balance, as the tannin opened up in the mid palate staying light in the bottom producing a very concentrated mid palate with strong licorice. Not often have I experienced the the tannin staying so focused upward. (1153 views)
Tasted by IvanKrazy on 1/14/2019 & rated 92 points: Oh what a beautiful wine. It keep getting better and better as the night went on and got more air. Delicious right now but it still feels very young so it obviously has years ahead. (1174 views)
Tasted by ChateauDutremble on 11/3/2018 & rated 92 points: Discreet at first...vegetal notes...celery salt...fennel...floral notes...then hints of burnt caramel! Anise, cherry, more spices...round and full-bodied...nobody guessed from Italy. Medium to short finish...delicious wine with lots to offer! (1275 views)
Tasted by ddingley on 10/15/2018 & rated 93 points: Really like where this wine is at now. Plum and currant and hint of spice—lovely soft tannins and long finish—smooth but well structured in medium bodied wine. Glad I have one more (1226 views)
Tasted by Slaz on 6/2/2018 & rated 92 points: Much improvement relative to my last tasting in 2015, appears at its peak, which is likely to last for a few years. (1647 views)
Tasted by mflesh on 6/19/2017 & rated 92 points: Age has done this one well!! Two more years in the bottle and all of a sudden we have clove, black olive, blackberry and licorice all in the front and middle. Finishes with a toasted tannin and grilled meat note and sort of a darker fruit....Figgy! This was a NICE Father's Day pizza wine. This one will probably not appreciate any more than it already has, and will probably continue to stay the way it is, but it seems as though it still has a lot of life in it. Even though I think this one will probably last another 5-7, I think it's time to start drinking this one now. (2222 views)
Tasted by MarkWhite on 11/25/2016 & rated 92 points: A nice moderately full bodied super Tuscan with restrained aromas of plum and black cherry. The inky wine hits the palate with the Plum, blackberry, and chocolate with a hint of raspberry. Silky on the finish with nicely rounded tannins and well balanced acids to keep it refreshing with a long aftertaste. Ready to drink now or will keep giving for another 10 years. Quite a good QPR that will be headed for the cellar when I can find it in quantity. (2529 views)
Tasted by Rick 4 Wine on 8/26/2016 & rated 91 points: Nice wine. Fruit is balanced with good minerality and softer tannins that build throughout the flavor profile. The Cab and Merlot are both softer and already exhibit some forest floor flavors that would have made me guess this wine was older than a 2010. I'm not getting the JS 95 on this. We didn't decant, so perhaps that owes to the lack of depth. (2703 views)
Tasted by Bran_Man on 7/31/2016 & rated 90 points: Very good. Buy again. Cassis and berry, but robust and full. (2743 views)
Tasted by Ken332 on 3/26/2016 & rated 92 points: Excellent moderately fruit forward super Tuscan, double decanted about an hour before serving, and served with steak Diane. Both the wine and the steak were excellent and a good complement. Nose of cassis and plums with moderate, soft tannins and touch of raspberries in the mid-range. This is a blend of Cabernet, merlot, Cabernet France and Petite Verdot that has a few years to go and should only get better. Definitely needs a couple of hours of breathing. Moderate alcohol at 14.2% and generally very well made and enjoyable. Wish I had more of this. (2591 views)

Red Bordeaux Blend

Red Bordeaux is generally made from a blend of grapes. Permitted grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and rarely Carménère.Today Carménère is rarely used, with Château Clerc Milon, a fifth growth Bordeaux, being one of the few to still retain Carménère vines. As of July 2019, Bordeaux wineries authorized the use of four new red grapes to combat temperature increases in Bordeaux. These newly approved grapes are Marselan, Touriga Nacional, Castets, and Arinarnoa.

Wineries all over the world aspire to making wines in a Bordeaux style. In 1988, a group of American vintners formed The Meritage Association to identify wines made in this way. Although most Meritage wines come from California, there are members of the Meritage Association in 18 states and five other countries, including Argentina, Australia, Canada, Israel, and Mexico.
