Dark garnet intense bouquet of sandalwood and leather. Great foward flavor of chocolate and dark berries mid of maybe olive finish long of brambel. When young was pff balance and tanic. Great wine drink now before all the fruit is gone (1378 views) | | Tasted by KAP on 9/6/2014 & rated 90 points: Still drinking well enough. (1301 views) | | Tasted by WineCPA on 6/3/2014 & rated 93 points: This was a great bottle of wine. It wasn't over the top with fruit, but still had tons of dark berry flavors. Drinking perfectly now. Tar on the nose and even some mineral/earthy tones mixed in on the finish. A bit more raisin came out on the nose after a day. But still held up perfectly. Drink now-2016. Agree with the previous notes about this being a poor QPR. But it was still a good wine. (1353 views) | | Tasted by cmr on 9/18/2010 & rated 88 points: Agree with previous review, for the price this is a horrible qpr and I don't see much more improvement occurring. Usual Zin berry fruit and overall very nice but not for the price. (2146 views) | | Tasted by Bacchant on 1/31/2010 & rated 90 points: Medium ruby color, with a clear hue. Unremarkable nose. Light to medium bodied mouthfeel. Palate shows two distinct elements: raisans & prunes upon entry, followed by unexpectedly sharp acidity & quite dry tannins on the short, tart finish. Good, but needs food. [14.8% abv.; $35.00]. (2034 views) | | Tasted by OneLastSyrah on 6/30/2009: Sonoma-Napa Trip Day 4 and 5; 6/29/2009-6/30/2009 (Napa and Sonoma): 14.8% ABV. Good nose of mineral, tar, floral quality. Rich red berry fruit. Nice, but the price seems a little out of line at $65. (3004 views) | | Tasted by wineaboutit on 3/29/2009 & rated 91 points: This is flat out delicious. Friend brought this to a birthday party, had one glass...a restrained nose of blackberry jam and raspberry...nothing over the top. Full bodied, w/layers of texture and complexity. I was completely suprised thinking this was going to be a fruit bomb montrosity...really good. (1023 views) |

Zinfandel ZAP: Zinfandel Advocates & Producers | Varietal character (Appellation America) | Wikipedia-ZinfandelUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Sonoma CountyMendocino County |
