Tasted by KeithAkers on 9/15/2023 & rated 93 points: This was from a 375 that I bought at a restaurant. After about a half hour of opening up, this shows off a savory and classic quality with melded tones of black cherries, licorice, herbs, some funky notes, violets, tobacco leaf, and some olive tapenade. The Medium/full bodied feel is silky and refined in a light-heavyweight sense along with crisp, medium+ acidity and silky, medium+ tannins. This has a real lengthy finish that leans heavy into the deliciously savory side! This is why I drink Tempier!!! It’s all of the slightly feral and savory goodness that you want from Mourvedre and it's in full flight right now. (778 views)
Tasted by PMJak11 on 8/11/2023 & rated 93 points: Such a great wine! PnP. Dark red color. Loads of flowers and earth on the nose. Dark cherries and blackberries on the palate. Lovely texture with medium depth and medium finish. Love it! (826 views)
Tasted by PMJak11 on 6/10/2023 & rated 94 points: Always great! Similar to previous notes/bottles. Floral nose with earth and dark cherries throughout. Medium depth and a long finish. (930 views)
Tasted by amateur62 on 3/18/2023 & rated 92 points: Mourvèdre (~ 75%) with Grenache and Cinsault and a smaller proportion of Carignan and Syrah, 14% vol.

Decanted 2 hours before dinner. On the nose red fruit, earthy notes with a fresh floral touch. On the palate good freshness, still present tannin that was hardly recognized during the meal but got more pronounced when drinking the last glass on its own, medium to full bodied, long finish.

Very classical Bandol that is in a very good shape now, but there is no hurry to drink the last bottles, it has enough structure to age in grace, drink now till 2032. (1083 views)
Tasted by PMJak11 on 11/4/2022 & rated 94 points: PnP. Dark red color. Classic Tempier Bandol! Cow shit, earth, smoke, and wood. Medium depth and full of character. Medium plus finish. Always a fav! (1452 views)
Tasted by JM_MadTown on 9/29/2022 & rated 91 points: This bottle is in a good spot with mellow tannins and nice dark red fruits. It is robust, full-bodied and quite enjoyable with the garrique, cherry fruit, leather and earthiness. (1179 views)
Tasted by DAIC on 9/21/2022 & rated 90 points: Past best? A bit all over the place, big, lot’s of competing tastes but enjoyed it (1011 views)
Tasted by dlduchon on 9/19/2022 & rated 95 points: The best regular bottling Tempier I have had and I have been drinking Tempier since the 80s. Extraordinarily polished for a Tempier, with superb balance. A beautiful tasting experience. I still love, and maybe prefer the more rustic vintages, but Daniel R. made a beautiful wine this vintage.  Tasted by PMJak11 on 7/21/2022 & rated 94 points: PnP. Dark red color. Floral, earthy, cow shit nose. Wine is light on fruit and heavy on smoke and earth. Always a fav! (1071 views)
Tasted by PMJak11 on 6/20/2022 & rated 95 points: One of my favorites! 1hr+ decant. Dark red color. Prime drinking age. Absolutely insane nose of perfume, flowers, earth, and cow shit. Same on the palate with medium depth and finish. So unique and awesome! (870 views)
Tasted by Christoph4204 on 4/16/2022 & rated 92 points: Perfect. At it's peak. (928 views)
Tasted by JM_MadTown on 1/1/2022 & rated 90 points: This bottle is very similar to the one I had a year ago. It has a bright red color with a slightly orange rim. It is full bodied, with dark red fruit, garrique, balanced acidity and a medium finish. There is still amble tannin on the palate. With the acidity and tannin, I think this could age for a long time. (1287 views)
Tasted by jlhkiss on 10/22/2020 & rated 92 points: Consistent with previous notes. Still a hard frame, so drink 2022+ (2616 views)
Tasted by JM_MadTown on 9/29/2020 & rated 90 points: This bottle was decanted about 30 minutes ago. It has a bright red color with a slightly orange rim. It is full bodied, with dark red fruit, garrique, balanced acidity and a medium finish. There is still amble tannin on the palate. With the acidity and tannin, I think this could age for a long time. (2271 views)
(2675 views)
Tasted by amateur62 on 6/21/2020 & rated 92 points: Decanted an hour before dinner. Starts a bit rustic, requires still some time to come together and to overcome the high alcohol but then it starts to sing. Intense mixture of red fruits, herbs and earthy notes, full bodied and long finish. Classical Bandol, keep in the cellar or give it a long decant, 91-92. (2307 views)
Tasted by JM_MadTown on 3/10/2020 & rated 90 points: This wine is ready to drink but still has many years of life ahead as there is still ample tannin on the palate. As is typical for Bandol, in my opinion, this wine is rustic in a good way. It is full bodied, with dark red fruit, garrique, balanced acidity and a medium finish. (2360 views)
Tasted by MonkeyBiz101 on 8/16/2019 & rated 90 points: Less mature than the last. Bottle variation on 375ml (2075 views)
Tasted by MonkeyBiz101 on 8/14/2019 & rated 90 points: From a 375 ml. Lots of garrigue, still a little hot, but now feels somewhat clumsy. On the way out? (2023 views)
Tasted by Beerzebub on 8/2/2019: P&p; drinking pretty well right away, and gets better with an hour+ of air in the bottle. Tons of garrigue scents, quite herbaceous, with tarry/earthy depth and floral accents. Dark fruit, balanced and tasty. Good acidity, and medium-strength grippy tannins. Well put together, balanced, characterful, tasty, moreish wine. (1816 views)
Tasted by jlhkiss on 5/15/2019 & rated 92 points: Still very tight - consitent with previous notes. Balanced, great purity of fruit, elegant, smooth, but still hard and tannic. Drink 2020-2030. Technical score: 92. Enjoyment score: 92. (2086 views)
Tasted by MonkeyBiz101 on 5/6/2019 & rated 91 points: From a 375ml. Very strong showing with roast lamb. Good garrigue. (1839 views)
Tasted by AllRed on 1/13/2019 flawed bottle: Second Sunday Group: Priorat (Frank's): Acidic and sour. Not a sound bottle. (2117 views)
Tasted by Jeanda on 1/9/2019: Encore une bouteille qui ne se goûte toujours pas bien du tout : le nez est muet, les tanins sont séchards et l'alcool ressort. (1773 views)
Tasted by A L P on 12/29/2018 & rated 85 points: Very disappointed with this wine. The first Dom. Tempier I’ve had without a bit of character. Just a sort of innocuous fruitiness. Sure hope this doesn’t bode ill for future vintages. (791 views)

Domaine Tempier

Producer website

U.S. Importer (Addt'l Info)

Domaine Tempier is located at Le Plan du Castellet. Its vineyards stretch over three different communities- Le Castellet, Le Beausset and La Cadière. The plots of land are thus far apart and require extra work. But the soil of these different areas yield distinctive cuvées -Spéciale, Migoua, Tourtine and Cabassaou - as well as interesting and complex blends for white, rosé and red wines.
Domaine Tempier owns 30 hectares. It produces AOC Bandol exclusively - an average of 68% red, 29% rosé and 3% white wines, approximately 120,000 bottles per year
