Tasted by ntonline on 10/15/2022 flawed bottle: Cork dried out
Unable to extract cork
Underlying wine tasted great, slightly sweet (285 views)
Tasted by skurtz on 7/3/2015 & rated 92 points: Consistent with my previous notes. Cork was in perfect shape. Great caramel, green apple flavor with a hint of almond. No fizz! Nice viscosity. My last bottle. (1245 views)
Tasted by skurtz on 3/30/2015 & rated 92 points: Squeaky cork that came out with a pop! Juicy unctuous green apple, flowers, and honeysuckle. Sublime viscosity and heft for a white wine. Delicious and in a great place at the moment. (1240 views)
Tasted by skurtz on 11/14/2014 & rated 92 points: Beautiful golden color, faint floral nose, on the palate lots of juicy green fruit balanced with acid - a touch of sweetness, again well balanced. Great viscosity. Fantastic! So this should not be confused with a dry wine, but it is also definitely not a dessert wine. Au contraire, this would be great to start a dinner, not just as an aperatif but also with light appetizers or salad. Tonight I'm having it with beef stew. Drinking well, in its prime.

Just as good on day two, if not better. The fruit is still forward, but the acid is more pressing, along with a faint (pleasant) bitter note that was observed by a previous reviewer. No longer sweet. (1325 views)
Tasted by cannym on 9/6/2013 & rated 92 points: Deep gold, hints of green. Nose of ripe pineapple and apricots. Tons of warm apricot, honey, smoke and spiciness. Quite thick and a bit oily. Definitely still carrying some obvious sweetness too. Enough acidity to keep some freshness though not very piercing. Long. Good with wild deer rillettes. PS Far from finished, tons of life ahead. (1622 views)
 Tasted by ArieS on 3/8/2009: 2 '01 Pinot Gris from Zind-Humbrecht; 3/8/2009-3/9/2009: From a 375ml. Indice 2
Deep gold color. Nose of pears, almonds.
On the palate some citrus, fresh unriped almonds, pronounced caramel. This is quite dry with multiple layers of complexity going on.
Nice acidity and an extra long finish with again a plaisant bitterness. (2779 views)
Tasted by ludwigbpm on 8/3/2008 & rated 85 points: Assez mou et simple, grand déception. (1584 views)
Tasted by pontac on 11/5/2006 & rated 70 points: We were expecting a dry wine so this was not only a surprise but a disapointment -- it is sweet, and not in good way as it is cloying, coating the tongue and leaving a sickly sweetness in the throat.

After an hour it has developed a burnt taste; there are some honey tones. But there is not the acidity. Its not as sweet as a dessert wine.

I really don't know what to make of it -- a warning about the sweetness on the label would help -- but I really don't like this.

12.50 GBP from Costco, brought by Sue (1913 views)
Tasted by Vino Me on 10/19/2004 & rated 92 points: Pinot Envy brought this to Las Vegas last weekend when my wife and I joined them. This was the best non dessert white wine of the weekend. I thought it was slightly better than the 1999 Zind Humbrecht Riesling Heimbourg which Otis shared with the Chicago crew in February. Like the Riesling though, this was a terrior driven wine which is what I probably liked most about it. Made in a relatively dry style with notes of pear, light citrus and minerals. Medium bodied with a long full finish. 92 points. (2222 views)
Tasted by JeffGMorris on 6/14/2004 & rated 94 points: Tasted at Biodynamic growers tasting NYC. Despite being very young the nose explodes with aromas of apricots, peaches and pit fruits. Sweet but not cloying on the palate and finish. Finish is very long persisting for several minutes. This wine will lose some of it's apparent sweetness as it ages. Wonderful wine. (1804 views)

Zind-Humbrecht

Producer website
Domaine Zind-Humbrecht is one of the stars of the Alsace, in the northeastern corner of France. Fought over for decades by Germany and France, the region, according to Robert M. Parker Jr., “is perhaps the most underrated and underutilized source of great white wines in the world.” Zind-Humbrecht was created in 1959 by Leonard Humbrecht and Genevieve Zind. Their son Olivier is now instrumental in running the 99-acre estate, which the family still owns. Like many Alsatian producers, Zind-Humbrecht makes white wines in varying degrees of sweetness, from dessert whites to very dry wines. The vineyards are planted to 30% Riesling, 30% Gewurztraminer, 29% Pinot Gris, and smaller amounts of Pinot Noir, Muscat, Chardonnay, Auxerrois and Pinot Blanc. Up to 18,000 cases are produced annually. Many are Grand Crus and single vineyard bottlings.

Pinot Gris

From Pinot Gris Wikipedia entry:
Wines made from the Pinot gris vary greatly and are dependent on the region and wine making style they are from. Alsatian Pinot gris are medium to full bodied wines with a rich, somewhat floral bouquet. They tend to be spicy in comparisons with other Pinot gris. While most Pinot gris are meant to be consumed early, Alsatian Pinot gris can age well. German Pinot gris are more full-bodied with a balance of acidity and slight sweetness. In Oregon the wines are medium bodied with a yellow to copper-pink color and aromas of pear, apple, and/or melon. In California, the Pinot gris are more light bodied with a crisp, refreshing taste with some pepper and arugula notes. The Pinot grigio style of Italy is a light-bodied, often lean wine that is light in color with sometimes spritzy flavors that can be crisp and acidic. Although this wine can be very sweet, it will begin to lose its acidity when it is nearly ripe.

Pinot gris is considered an "early to market wine" that can be bottled and out on the market within 4–12 weeks after fermentation.
