Tasted by ArtF on 4/28/2024 & rated 93 points: I plan to finish my last two halves by end 2025. (519 views)
Tasted by MattGeneve on 3/25/2024 & rated 92 points: Nick's "Good Barolo and Barbaresco" Dinner - Friday 22 March, 67 Pall Mall; 3/24/2024-3/25/2024 (67 Pall Mall): Lovely nose. Extremely fine marmalade, lychee, passion fruit, lemon curd. It was late in the dinner at this point but I recall it was quite a thick sweetness on the palate, actually slightly too much for me. But I loved the aromatics. (876 views)
Tasted by NickA on 3/22/2024 & rated 94 points: Good Barolo and Barbaresco (67 Pall Mall): I love 2005 Sauternes! So good, with its sweet saffron, ripe pineapple and mint notes, excellent balance and enticing vivacity. (852 views)
Tasted by Vinumming & Ahhing on 3/22/2024 & rated 92 points: Nick A's "Good Barolo and Barbaresco" at 67 PM (67 Pall Mall, London): Had a half of this in Jan and this is so youthful by comparison. Intense lemon curd, passionfruit coulis and lime juice nose. With air some pineapple, and almond hints emerge. Very enjoyable stuff. (909 views)
Tasted by Paul D on 3/22/2024 & rated 91 points: Nick’s Barolo and Barbaresco (67 Pall Mall, London): Last wine of the night and not much on this one, but I recall a lovely, florally, saffrony Barsac, quite elegant and fresh. (839 views)
Tasted by aagrawal on 2/7/2024 & rated 90 points: From 375mL. Deep golden color; high intensity aromatics, pure orange (like the nose on a muscat, pure fruit), with some baking spices, nutmeg, orange zest, candied orange peel, some honey; palate is full bodied, sweet but balanced by medium acidity, medium-plus alcohol is all in place, citrus fruit, not quite as much complexity as on the nose but well balanced; medium length finish. This is fabulous value, seems in a better spot than last year, and will likely continue to evolve in a good direction. I'm particularly impressed by the depth on the nose, though the palate is more one-note. One of my better bottles of this. 90 (1097 views)
Tasted by SouthernStateofMind on 1/29/2024: Similar to prior observations. (838 views)
Tasted by Vinumming & Ahhing on 1/26/2024 & rated 92 points: Passion fruit and later mango with some creme brulee char. Rich, long and fabulous with fois gras initially and again with cheese at the end of the evening. (982 views)
Tasted by moany rhoney on 10/13/2023 & rated 90 points: Oddbods Committee Tasting; 10/12/2023-10/13/2023 (New Inn Colchester): not overly sweet, fruit is bitter orange. with caramel. long interesting finish. (1458 views)
Tasted by Texas Corkscrew on 10/12/2023: Duplicate listings (1218 views)
Tasted by honest bob on 9/30/2023 & rated 86 points: From 37,5cl, perfect cork, did not improve in the glass. Oh dear, I did get this one right last time (CT TN 02.05.2022). Primary sugary, watery peach fruit, honey, a bit of pollen, a touch of bitterness and a hint of botrytis. Very light, one-dimensional, even ephemeral for Sauternes/Barsac in a decent vintage. 86P (1177 views)
Tasted by ArtF on 9/23/2023 & rated 96 points: Six months since last half. Medium gold, smoothly sweet with lots of balanced acidity for firmness and power. No bitterness or bandage taste. Just lots of pleasure like a good, stiff drink. (1166 views)
Tasted by galewskj on 9/5/2023 & rated 92 points: From a 375. It has been fun to assess this wine as it ages. In its youth, the wine was quite light and energetic. It seems to have gotten richer, sweeter and more desserty as time goes by. Clearly lower in quality than Y, Climens, Rieussec, La Tour Blanche, de Fargue and most Suiduiraut vintages. (1355 views)
Tasted by Senso-beak on 8/6/2023 & rated 94 points: 1/2 bottle removed from cellar since release and opened. Liquified light crude caramel. Nice yellow coloring, maturing. Creme Brulee nose, bristling with uber ripe apricot, quince, yellow raspberry, honey, brown sugar. Very unctuous and dense - really nice showing. (1135 views)
Tasted by SouthernStateofMind on 6/9/2023: Medium gold. Presents aromas of peach, apricot, orange marmalade, marzipan, and honeysuckle. Delicate and surprisingly nimble on the palate. Ripe fruit is measured with adequate acidity leading to evenly distributed finish. No botrytis or cloying effect present and acidity is measured at present so it will be interesting to track its progression from here. A perfect accompaniment to goose liver pate and blue cheese, nonetheless. (847 views)
Tasted by JohnLI on 6/9/2023 & rated 92 points: Golden colour. Marzipan honey candy with prominent lemon and orange flavours. This is quite light style Barsac but very enjoyable now. (1411 views)
Tasted by hargy on 4/16/2023 & rated 91 points: really quite light and delicate and not at all cloying - not the most complex of Doisy-Daene and it could do with a bit more acidity but may well improve - lovely (1528 views)
Tasted by ArtF on 3/7/2023 & rated 94 points: Half bottle, Still light to medium gold at 18 years. Fresh, balanced sweetness. Has matured beautifully. In a very good place today. (1476 views)
Tasted by btock on 2/17/2023 & rated 94 points: This wine kicks butt. Fantastic structure, still pouring with such a youthful profile. Pale coloring, juicy acidity, just a treat. Opened a 375 to accompany an after dinner cheese course. Wine was refreshing. This one is going to go the distance. (1413 views)
Tasted by aagrawal on 1/1/2023 & rated 89 points: From 375mL. Deep straw to light golden color, excellent for its age; aromatic, white flowers, orange blossom honey, some baking spices; palate is medium bodied, balanced sweetness with medium-plus acidity, some minerality and great elegance and lightness throughout, 14% alcohol seems high but mostly balanced, slight fading of fruit through the midpalate; finish is medium length. Not quite stage 3 maturity, but showing well for a stage 2 sauternes with nice balance though lacking a bit of complexity. I'm sure this will be better in two decades, but it's drinking reasonably well now and over the next 5-10 years. 89, on its way back up.
Day 2: Fleshed out orange blossom marmalade which has replaced some of the lighter florals; alcohol a bit better integrated throughout, and a bit more persistent fruit through the midpalate; medium finish. I would say better than yesterday, but still 5-10 years short of maturity.
Day 3: Similar to day 2. (1783 views)
Tasted by galewskj on 1/1/2023 & rated 93 points: 2022 New Years Eve: From a 750, this sauternes is filling out and gaining weight as it ages. Quite regal with the hallmark honey, spice, chalk and slight tropical fruit. Drinking really well and much better than when it was a pup. (1715 views)
Tasted by rocknroller on 12/31/2022 & rated 94 points: New Years Eve Celebration (Rocknroller's (Kevin & Vicki's Place)): Medium gold color. Drank a glass over 30 minutes. Interestingly we had this exactly 3 years ago here on NYE. I loved it then, and I have to say it was even better now. I agree with galeskj's comments. Toasted coconut, orange and pinapple, spiced orange, caramelized, lovely spices and balance to the spices, orange panna cotta, a touch savory, honey, great vibrancy and energetic lift here. Reminds me of the trajectory of the '05 Rieussec. (1633 views)
(1632 views)
Tasted by GARDEN on 10/16/2022 & rated 92 points: Paired with Roquefort cheese. Very nice... (1601 views)
Tasted by TheFoodieTraveler on 9/25/2022 & rated 93 points: Quite fresh w nice salinity but a little cloying. Needs more time. (1546 views)

Vins Bordeaux (Conseil Interprofessionnel du Vin de Bordeaux)

History of Bordeaux

History of 1855 Bordeaux Classification

"2009 is all about ripeness, with wines impressively packed with ripe fruit and high alcohol levels. They are showy, in-your-face, and full of pleasure. The 2010s have the fruit and alcohol levels of the 2009s, but with a compelling freshness on the finish that balances the fruit and provides a perfect sense of structure." - Ben Nelson

"2016 is a landmark vintage in certain spots of Bordeaux and it should be remembered as one of the most inspired campaigns of the last 40-50+ years." -Jon Rimmerman
"The quality of red Bordeaux in 2016 was universally lauded – although the response to the en primeur campaign was muted. Quantity was high too, with the equivalent of 770 million bottles of wine produced. An exceptionally dry summer with cool nights eventually, thanks to mid September rain, resulted in small, thick-skinned, ripe grapes, and the wines are marked by high tannin and acidity, with superb aromatic fragrance." - Jancis Robinson

"2017 was complicated, but there are some excellent wines. Expect plenty of freshness and drinkability from wines that will offer excellent value, and others that will rival 2016 in terms of ripeness and ageability. But they are likely to be the exception not the rule, making careful selection key." - Jane Anson

"In the past, a vintage such as 2022 may have been overripe, raisined and low in acidity but 2022 had a sneaky little reservoir in its back pocket - a near perfect marriage of cool/cold/rain the previous winter and the previous vintage that literally soaked the soils (a key to why 2022 is not 2003...or 1893)." - Jon Rimmerman
