Expected bready, doughy, brioche
Got apricot, grilled pineapple, apple compote.
Enjoyable — and enjoyed.
Unique but unexpected.
I have one more bottle and I may hold to see what transpires … (2643 views)
Tasted by KenK on 10/5/2021 & rated 89 points: A bit perplexing as I enjoyed it overall, yet with more age wine has become somewhat tropical and funky. Still good, but was hoping for more brioche vs apricot. (2402 views)
Tasted by gharter on 8/28/2021 & rated 93 points: Fine bubbles. Wonderful nose with apples, lemon, pear, brioche, almond. complex flavors with lemon, pear, brioche and almond. Long smooth finish. Drinking really well, but enough to hold longer. (2237 views)
Tasted by OldHick95 on 8/6/2021 & rated 94 points: Great complexity. Baked apple, caramelized pear tart, lime zest. Creamy long finish with slight pineapple. Wonderful depth. (2291 views)
Tasted by bavaur on 7/13/2021 & rated 96 points: Chilled, popped and poured. Really fresh nose of red apples, lemons, cream and a hint of toffee. Really great acidity and mouthfeel, with a more honeysuckle, biscuit and mint-like finish on the palate. Really vibrant, fruity and yet textured and layered at the same time. Superb. (2377 views)
Tasted by ShadowIII on 4/5/2021 & rated 94 points: intense nose with brioche, nutty notes, apples, pears, creamy, rich, long finish, a delight, special treat (1481 views)

Tasted by catowne1 on 12/31/2020 & rated 93 points: Been a member with Schramsberg for about 4 years now and have been impressed with every wine I’ve had from them so far. I believe they are a SOLID competitor to any Champagne in comparable and even higher price points. This one is no different. At 14 years old, it’s in its prime right now. Still fresh enough to think this one has another 3-5 years left, maybe more.

Beautiful deep golden color. Nose of honey, baked apple pie, sweet rolls, maybe a slight bit of lemon drop. Palate is creamy and rich with a long finish.

Great value for the price point. (1730 views)
Tasted by ABPotts on 12/25/2020 & rated 95 points: Christmas Day 2020. Beautiful deep golden color. Cloves, orange, brioche, golden raisins. Great acidity and body. Flowers and citrus during an extended finish. Drinking wonderfully now but probably has a few years left. (1398 views)
Tasted by OldHick95 on 12/25/2020 & rated 93 points: Merry Christmas to me! Complex, mature wine that is drinking like a champ. Light gold hue. Baked apples, clove, cinnamon and fresh bread notes. Long finish with some honey. (1680 views)
Tasted by eoinhharkins on 8/22/2020 & rated 92 points: In a really good spot nose, lively nose of brioche, golden apple, slightly oxidative note and Meyer lemon, really fine mousse with, medium plus acidity and a medium plus finish (1707 views)
Tasted by glou.sf on 11/22/2019 & rated 93 points: Creamy texture with brioche flavors, citrus, green apples, and white flowers. Great acidity and lovely mouthfeel. Nice finish. Quite nice bottle of bubbles! (1987 views)
Tasted by sstein19 on 5/25/2019 & rated 96 points: Light gold in color. Caramel apple on the nose with some honey and pineapple. Tart on the entry and lingers. Caramel, green apple, candied lemon, and pineapple. (2019 views)
Tasted by rozndatbow on 5/11/2019 & rated 95 points: Outstanding! Lovely toasted nut flavors with some bread yeast and earthy tones. Incredible drinker! (1889 views)
 Tasted by Mburley88 on 11/20/2018: 87% Chardonnay; 13% Pinot Noir (2111 views)
Tasted by schott on 8/4/2018 & rated 91 points: Popped from ice bucket. Medium effervescent. Light golden flax. Medium nose of yeast. Fine bubbles - long lasting. Medium sweet. Fruity. Very light alcohol. Slight yeast at finish. Everyone enjoyed. 87% Chardonnay, 13% Pinot. (2014 views)
Tasted by S1 on 6/23/2018: Wow, this bottle is in a great spot. While this wine has always been a little too sweet for my preferences, today it seems nicely balanced. There is definite sweet strawberry, but I was eating local strawberries so who cares?! Age has been kind; the nutty, yeasty quality adds interest. There are hints of melon and a hint of lemon curd. Tight bubbles and balanced acidity rounds out the finish. (1651 views)
Tasted by Troon on 3/26/2018 & rated 92 points: This was a nice sparkler that was showing signs of maturity. There was still a strong bead of bubbles which lingered after pouring. I detected apple and some toast on the palate. A very enjoyable wine. (1733 views)
Tasted by mflesh on 3/23/2018: Pretty good strawberry and some lighter, less severe watermelon notes here. The wine has a nose with a lot of sweeter strawberry and nutty notes. Enters with tiny bubbles all around, coating the glass and your mouth. The finish is VERY mildly tart and quite dry. Overall I think this wine is doing great, especially given its roots. Very well balanced sparkler. Takes me back to touring and tasting in the cave. (1667 views)
Tasted by ScottSherry on 8/7/2017 & rated 91 points: Showing nuttiness with its age. Really good drinking, if you like age on sparkling wines. (2334 views)
Tasted by J-Sho on 7/3/2016 & rated 92 points: Wonderful champagne, nice complexity. (3402 views)

Tasted by RayOB on 3/29/2016 & rated 89 points: Peter Michael Tasting (67 Pall Mall): Quite sweet with a nose of pineapples and mango. This is their flagship sparkling wine made of 87% Chardonnay, 13% Pinot Noir. (3599 views)
 Tasted by Winedog1 on 3/26/2016 & rated 96 points: Delicious. (3161 views)

2006 Schramsberg Vineyards J. Schram

Winemaker's Tasting Notes:
The 2006 J. Schram opens with bright aromas of green apple, ripe grapefruit and sweet pineapple followed by exotic nuances of mango, guava, panna cotta, and toasted almond. On first sip, tangerine and Kaffir lime are present, which are accentuated by layers of tart pear and Fuji apple. The palate’s texture is viscous and savory on entry. A long finish is driven by generous mouthwatering and lingering acidity.

Champagne Blend

"Champagne blend" is a classic grape blend that typically includes Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and/or Pinot Meunier in any proportions.

However, this blend can also include Arbane, Fromenteau (Pinot Gris), Petit Meslier and/or Pinot Blanc as well.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson

North Coast

The North Coast American Viticultural Area (AVA) in California, covering more than three million acres, includes Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake counties, and portions of Marin and Solano counties. (see The Wine Institute for more information)
