Tasted by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy on 4/20/2023 & rated 92 points: Always a pleasure. Drinking well at the moment. (634 views)
Tasted by shafer1994 on 11/6/2022 & rated 94 points: Delicious and fresh - in a wonderful place right now! Yellow to golden color. Elegant nose with notes of white peach, pineapple, light honey, buttery. Intense but elegant and harmonious finish. Wonderful length. Some more years ahead. (905 views)
Tasted by Miceri on 8/7/2022 & rated 95 points: Golden yellow; a somewhat nutty nose with perhaps a slight hint of oxidation and/or some orange; broad soft attack, white pear, a bit neutral to begin with followed strong “buttery” flavours and a very long aftertaste; a “meaty” powerful wine with elegance; 80% Roussane (1136 views)
Tasted by rwpalmer on 6/9/2022 & rated 89 points: Amazing lemon verbena nose. Lively and firm but just starting to carry a bit much oxidation for my taste. (1235 views)
Tasted by drjb on 12/18/2021 & rated 93 points: This bottle opened with a deep green gold colour and a nose of honeysuckle, lemon butter, grapefruit and pear lifted by a touch of honey. The palate is quite rich and round with quite delicious fruit characters reflecting the nose and just enough balancing acidity and mineral characters to provide the necessary structure to provide length and refreshment. This is an interesting and unusual food wine to turn to when Chardonnay has lost its appeal ! (1570 views)
Tasted by Bandreas on 12/26/2020: Lots of oak there which detracted from the potential quality of the wine.
I did not find this one very enjoyable.
Why so much oak?? (1492 views)
Tasted by cch1966 on 10/31/2020 & rated 92 points: Deep gold. Sweet tropic fruit and a touch of honey. Medium acidity. Well balanced wine with long finish. (1323 views)
Tasted by SlimShaney on 8/27/2020 & rated 93 points: a little awkward like a wood cabin with incongruent plank lengths. But like the dryness never yielding though like a girl who wants to be a boy, there's some identity crisis happening here (1374 views)
Tasted by Vini Ciclismo on 6/21/2020 & rated 94 points: Straw gold.
Crushed herbs, white flowers, hint of honeysuckle. Lightly framed, perfect.
Powerful but finely focused. Great acidity and a long resonating finish. Talc, tropical fruits, nectar. Complex but never heavy. Great wine. (1342 views)
Tasted by wineismylife on 3/5/2020 & rated 93 points: WIML93

Tasted non blind.

Yellow color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of honeysuckle, white pepper and Brandy soaked pears. Flavors of honey, apricot and yellow pears. Medium acidity, full bodied. Drink or hold. (1322 views)
Tasted by rwpalmer on 12/28/2019 & rated 92 points: One of the best wines of the Xmas feast. Dense, herbal, imposing without being clumsy. Loads of extract. Hard to imagine a better example of southern Rhone blanc. (1173 views)
91-92 (1617 views)
Tasted by OenoEd on 4/6/2019 & rated 92 points: Evolved color, past gold, approaching parchment. Crazy nose: apple scented candle wax, fresh paint on wood, pear liqueur, hard boiled egg salad, musty damp clothes closet. Smells better than described, exotic and exciting! Drinks almost like a beautiful fino sherry: almond paste, orange zest, hint of bitter lemon tonic on the finish. This overwhelmed grilled day boat scallops, but paired beautifully with pan fried soft shell crabs, with slivered almonds, butter, orange zest, and a bit of the wine for the sauce. The fatty rich crunchiness of the crabs balanced the exotica that was too much for the scallops. Drink up before 2021, unless you LOVE sherry! (1519 views)
Tasted by andreel on 10/27/2018 & rated 90 points: Very rich and concentrated with a touch of bitterness. Went great with grilled turbot. (1839 views)
Tasted by I1bearup on 8/13/2018 & rated 93 points: Wow aromas are insane. Booming on all levels. Too flabby on mouthfeel though. (1948 views)
Tasted by yaCellar on 8/10/2018 & rated 91 points: My first white Beaucastel and my first white proper Rhône. Light golden. Rich, unctuous. I get the dried fruit and fruit skins. Hard overall for me to describe. Too much going on and I don’t have the words for it. Loved it overall.

Prep: Started at 40°F and gave it 45m of slow ox. It became a little too warm. Food: Paired very well to a roasted cauliflower soup w/ toasted cumin seeds, and salad with spicy prawn and Brazilian Lobster tail. (1700 views)
Tasted by PeterMole on 6/1/2018: Still young, dormant? Wait 2-3 years. (1750 views)
Tasted by DRob on 12/9/2017: Even richer than expected (2062 views)
Tasted by Mascarello59 on 11/2/2017 & rated 93 points: Apples, wax, apricots and raisin on the nose. Rich oily texture. Full bodied with harmonius balance. More uplift from the acdity than expected. Had this with chicken in creamy sauce, a very nice fit. Again not a wine to drink on its own but great with the right food pairing. (1718 views)
Tasted by ews3 on 4/29/2017 & rated 92 points: Paired with Black Bass a l’Oriental. Young and big, this had a lovely waxiness, with some stone fruit, floral, and honeycomb. The dish had a puffed rice component that worked very well with this texturally. (2007 views)
Tasted by bajayngo on 11/2/2016: Drank over 3 days and it didn't budge. These wines age forever. Bright and fresh with tropical fruits but still the wax, honey, pith and viscous weighted mouth feel. Always a pleasure. (2287 views)
Tasted by bajayngo on 7/14/2016: In a great spot of early drinking. Tropical entry with wax, honey, honeycomb and spices. Big on the palate but some acids keeping it in check. Love these young and old. (2498 views)
Tasted by Motz on 7/13/2016 & rated 93 points: Smells and tastes as it should. Better than expected acid, expansive texture and mouthfeel, long and generous finish. (2361 views)
Tasted by mmcdds on 5/21/2016 & rated 93 points: Tonight this is a really nice cdp blanc that's drinking really with just an hour or so of air. Deep, rich stone fruit up front, with tropical fruit following close behind. There's a firm, underlying core of oyster shelly minerality with baking spice and anise notes. There's lots going on here. Quite delicious. (2229 views)
Tasted by Vinsant on 1/22/2016: Ripe tropical fruit, hay, honey, and citrus. Diggin this vintage, nicely balanced with uplifting acids. (3136 views)

"As I have written many times in the past, the sweet spot for drinking Châteauneuf du Papes is usually the first 5-6 years after the vintage. Then they seem to go through an adolescent, awkward, and sometimes dormant stage, only to re-emerge around year 10-12, where the majority of wines are often fully mature. The best of them will continue to hold on to life (but rarely improving) beyond 15-20 years. It is only the exceptional Châteauneuf du Papes that will evolve for 20-25+ years, and those are indeed a rarity. However, things may be improving dramatically in terms of the longevity of Châteauneuf du Pape, although Grenache-dominated wines, the vast majority of wines produced in the appellation, are wines that do not have the polyphenol (extract and tannin) content of top Cabernet Sauvignons, Merlots, or Syrah-based wines. Nevertheless, the younger generation in Châteauneuf du Pape has taken seriously the farming in the vineyards. There are more organic and biodynamically run vineyards here than in any other appellation of France. The yields, which were already low, are even lower today (20-35 hectoliters per hectare), and of course, the proliferation of top luxury and/or old-vine cuvées gives a significant boost to the number of wines that will evolve past 25 or 30 years. The advantage of these wines is their broad window of drinkability." - Robert Parker
