Tasted by Chasing Wine on 1/3/2018 & rated 89 points: Golden color with ripe lemon curd and Slightly oxidative nose. Still quite flavorful, not fresh but secondary flavors. Honeyed, dried, over ripe citrus, , banana, sweet oak notes with a waxy and full mouthfeel. Good acidity and long lingering lemon on the finish. If you like slightly oxidized whites, this is great.  Tasted by vintagedds on 6/18/2013 & rated 89 points: Appearance very light in color, almost clear. Nose has hints of citrus and oak. Very acidic on the palate with hints of vanilla, oak, and citrus. A bit past it's prime, but tasty if the acidity wasn't too strong. (2806 views)
Tasted by Cellar Fiend on 2/21/2011 & rated 83 points: Too much oak but not undrinkable. (3527 views)
Tasted by theguy on 1/23/2010 & rated 85 points: Very tarte, acidic, citrus wine. Hint of oak. Finish of citrus and butter. I had with cheesie food. I think it would be much better with a meaty white fish or shellfish. Yes...scallops or lobster. (3648 views)
Tasted by itsallgone on 7/24/2008: Very light in color - almost clear. Felt it tasted like a cross between a sauvignon blanc and a dry riesling. Lots of citrus, high acidity, and effervescence on the finish. (4114 views)
Tasted by smallhart on 5/4/2008 & rated 90 points: Really a fine Chardonnay. Great structure, the slightest oak, crisp and buttery. (3337 views)
Tasted by Delpo on 1/8/2008 & rated 92 points: Gorgeous structure and balance. Tropical fruit flavors are deftly balanced by judicious use of oak. Will go and buy more of this one. (2183 views)
Tasted by rcc777 on 1/3/2008 & rated 89 points: Light yellow color, strong vanilla butter on the nose and gobs of butter taste, nice long finish. Great wine for the price. (1970 views)
Tasted by Train_de_Nuit on 10/25/2007 & rated 95 points: Not too much oak or butter. Just right. Had with a Chicken Paella and it was off the hook. Seemed made to go with the meal. (2113 views)
Tasted by vespasian on 10/16/2007: Pale lemon in colour. Notes of citrus and butter on the nose. Straightforward but reasonaly well balanced. High alcohol. (2056 views)
Tasted by bkburns on 10/5/2007 & rated 90 points: Tight, crisp, but opens up ever so slightly. Didn't like it the first night, but by day 2 I was thinking it was a pretty good deal for the price (2287 views)
Tasted by Mrbuzz on 7/10/2007 & rated 89 points: Crisp citrus, green apple, pear fruit....sharp acidity, yet slightly creamed with a dash of vanilla oak. A little heat pepper....sharp at times...but keeps it lively. A nice refreshing, zippy Chard...with zero Heitz terroir. Their whites are for starters...palate refreshers...for the big boy reds! I've got a 1991 Martha's decanting.....nice Chard to pass the time until. (2229 views)
Tasted by last chance on 5/31/2007 & rated 87 points: Very pale yellow gold color. Nose of pear and Granny Simth apples with a little citrus. Flavors of pear and apple that are a little more tart than promised by the nose. Seems almost a little grassy at the finish. I didn't notice a lot of oak or butter from this wine, it was just a crisp, clean Chardonnay that was a lot of fun to drink on one of the first hot summer days of the year. (2207 views)
Tasted by oeno8105 on 5/29/2007 & rated 84 points: Bought this as a "social chardonnay"; something to open when you just want to say, "Hey, how are you? Come on in." I found it to be very oaky and lemony, although smooth and crisp enough to cleanse the palate. (1710 views)
Tasted by EMichels on 11/3/2006 & rated 87 points: Drinks like a rough 2x4; Needs food flavors to fill in the holes and smooth out the bumps (2335 views)

Chardonnay

The Chardonnay Grape

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
