Tasted by Mtnmd1 on 6/9/2019 & rated 91 points: Despite the age, well balanced with classic brambly fruit front and center. A bit of a wow moment as this was from split and expected to be well past it’s prime. What a graceful zin! (876 views)
Tasted by Bil on 5/13/2018 & rated 85 points: Definitely past its prime but still some cherry and red berry flavors holding on (1406 views)
Tasted by Bil on 6/9/2017 & rated 88 points: Drinking well despite the age. No longer fruit forward but rich with vanilla and enough dark fruit to make this still a pleasure to drink (1983 views)
Tasted by Vinu on 9/27/2016 & rated 90 points: Just opened and tastes wonderful. Jammy. (2522 views)
Tasted by drycreekwhine on 2/26/2016 & rated 91 points: A 14 year old Zin with lovely dark fruit still very much apparent. The color suggests a much younger wine. Well done, Ted S. (2809 views)
Tasted by Bil on 12/23/2014 & rated 87 points: Clearing out some bottles that got 'lost' in my cellar. This one is definitely past it's prime but still drinking pretty well. No longer a fruit bomb but enough fruit left to still be delicious. Will drink the last few bottles of this soon. (2840 views)
Tasted by arthrovine on 4/11/2013 & rated 90 points: Black round fruits. Thick gritty textures. Milky creamy tannins. Mild heat. Drink now. Dessert-ish. (3603 views)
Tasted by Zinlady on 3/4/2012 & rated 91 points: Quite nice. Had with roasted chicken and cranberry sauce - Nice color, nose and finish. Has aged nicely and is ready to drink (3702 views)
Tasted by arthrovine on 11/27/2011 & rated 92 points: Great bottle. Muted restrained but very present fruit, slight saddle leather, austere dry creek valley character. Some heat blew off with air (3633 views)
Tasted by arthrovine on 4/11/2011 & rated 91 points: drinking well. fruit is fading ever so much. Stoic wine. (3625 views)
Tasted by rasieh on 12/25/2010 & rated 93 points: excellent even tho drunk late, (3446 views)
Tasted by ctjared on 11/26/2010: Last bottle was a little disappointing (2416 views)
Tasted by wtracker on 11/7/2010 & rated 89 points: Full of vigor, cherry and licorice, a lot better than last bottle (2335 views)
Tasted by wtracker on 5/3/2010 & rated 78 points: Dwindling fruit, past its peak (2642 views)
Tasted by Max Power on 4/27/2010 & rated 92 points: This was delicious. I feel for all of those that have bottles past peak but this was drinking great last night and today. Very dark in the glass with a gentle but full bodied nose of berries and plum. The fruit was very powerful, full and seamless. Chewy tannins and great midpalate led to a long, delicious finish. I love this Seghesio, even at $30. (2786 views)
Tasted by deschamp52 on 3/14/2010 & rated 93 points: Very nice. Nicely balanced despite 15.6 % alcohol. Relatively restrained flavors of berries and plums. I think it may be just slightly past its peak. Drinking beautifully.Wish I had more. (2730 views)
Tasted by phil0711 on 9/24/2009: definitely over the hill - very sad for what was an impressive zin in it's prime. (3188 views)
Tasted by dwbumsted on 9/1/2009 & rated 89 points: Well balanced wine - like liquid blackberry cobbler (3292 views)
Tasted by markopf on 5/8/2009 & rated 89 points: Good as seghesio always is. Not past prime, ready to drink. Very good. (3335 views)
Tasted by jonb72 on 11/16/2008 & rated 88 points: dark berries, vanilla (3485 views)
Tasted by prufrocksabogado on 8/10/2008 & rated 89 points: Probably held this a bit too long, but traces of a once significantly more powerful and luscious wine were still present. Earth, vanilla, slightly dried plums in rapid succcession with a deep sip. Consumed half early in the day solo, and the rest in the late afternoon with a rare salt-crusted ribeye. Held its own. A fine, but not exceptional wine. (3684 views)
Tasted by vanpe003 on 5/18/2008 & rated 88 points: Gives very little on the nose. Medium bodied and well balanced on the palate. PML brought this. (3602 views)
Tasted by Moorese on 4/4/2008 & rated 90 points: Really a pleasant surprise and in a fine place. Sweet blackberry and red raspberry, peppery spice, plenty of life, nice acidity, resolved, soft, long, and ultimately charming. Don't get me wrong, this is not terribly profound or nuanced, but I rarely drink Zin much less Zin with a bit of time on it. This a not a hot, sloppy mess even though the alcohol content is 15.6% (which I suppose is relatively modest for a Zin). Rather, it is a well-balanced, tasty drink with just enough to elevate it to an outstanding experience. (3747 views)
Tasted by enosnob on 1/1/2008 & rated 92 points: 1/01/2008: Deep purple-ruby color with a nose of wild flowers, briar, wild berries, spice and wet grass. This is a full bodied, dense wine. It is very complex with plenty of structure. It has a big backbone of tannin, acid and fruit. The flavors are of red fruit and prunes, with spice, licorice, pepper, vanilla, and whatevr. Long finish of licorice, tannin and spice. (3955 views)
Tasted by kekuhn on 11/26/2007 & rated 93 points: Terrific; full-bodied and flavorful; plum and berry notes. (4173 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
