Community Tasting Notes (average 96.3 pts. and median of 97 pts. in 4 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by MJReb on 9/14/2023 & rated 97 points: Repeating the impressions of the last bottle a year ago: deep yellow color, beside others white orchard fruit, salinity, incredible density and very long. Produced in a 900 l barrel, kept over 5 years on its lees. The best Riesling I know. Has been the last of 3. (157 views)
Tasted by MJReb on 7/2/2022 & rated 97 points: The dark yellow color made me a bit afraid, but the nose and the first sip told immediately the truth: this is best Riesling I know. Only one 900l barrel produced, the wine has been for five years on its lees.
Ripe white orchard fruit, citrus and very stony. Incredibly dense with enormous length. (212 views)
Tasted by MJReb on 7/19/2020 & rated 97 points: Citrus (grapefruit and oranges), salty, highly complex with an extreme density and length. This wine has been 5 years on its lees in a big barrel of less than 1000 litres. The best Riesling I ever had, phantastic. (443 views)

#2014 Vintage Notes:
2014 Vintage Report by Terry Theise
2014 Vintage Report by Wine Spectator
"My gut still tells me the Saar (and to some extent) the Ruwer are better overall in 2014 than the more storied areas of the Mosel proper, but those that spent the requisite time living in their middle-Mosel vineyards made some of the most electric and "feathery" Riesling in a long time (maybe the finest in 20 years - yes, it's true!)" - Jon Rimmerman (Of course only a very short historical memory would call the Saar and Ruwer less 'storied' than the middle Mosel - jht)

Rheingau

On weinlagen.info

The small but fine wine-growing area Rheingau offers one for the culture of the vine ideal microclimate and best soil conditions. The Rhine runs uninterruptedly almost one thousand kilometres from Basel up to its muzzle into the North Sea, in a northerly direction. With a short exception - the Rheingau. The Rheingau mountains force the river to a change in direction here. The vineyards falling in this region to the south stretch really to the sun. The king of the white wines, the Riesling, finds ideal local conditions for the unfolding of his fine fruity and elegant type of vine character on the multilayered weathering grounds with loess, loam and sand additions.
