Community Tasting Notes (average 91 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 25 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Octavian_Valkamo on 7/17/2023 & rated 92 points: Golden pure colour. Very nice bubbles.
Brioche (bread dough), dried dates/apricot, apple.
After a while: vanilla, waffle dough, red apple, marmelade.
Elegant, layered, fresh. Don't miss it! (553 views)
Tasted by graemeg on 4/5/2023: NobleRottersSydney - North Italy (Fix, St James, Sydney): {cork, 12.5%} [Gordon] Fairly mature nose of yeast and bakery aromas. The palate has a real ‘cheese-on-a-biscuit’ character to the flavours. It’s medium weight, with fairly large and vigorous bubbles. Rich palate but properly dry, although it seemed to me surprisingly short and hollow on the finish. Possibly needs more time in either the glass or the cellar. I wasn’t really convinced, but I may have been in the minority. (721 views)
Tasted by Kaizah on 2/5/2023 & rated 92 points: Nicely balanced with brioche notes (676 views)
Tasted by Roi Vin de LBC on 12/31/2022 & rated 90 points: 90 points. Powerful champagne Darker hue, fruit but also richness Very enjoyable. (731 views)
Tasted by La cave à JC on 12/29/2022 & rated 92 points: Saveur de pomme cuite, brioche, légèrement oxydé. A boire maintenant. (721 views)
Tasted by platpeeps on 7/12/2022 & rated 93 points: On the initial attack the principal flavours were red fruits and ripe apples, but infused with a minerally saline element. As the wine developed there was a slight oxidative note plus a sprinkling of black pepper but on the finish there was predominantly sweet black chocolate. An impressive, complex sparkler arguably over-dominated by the chocolate character. CHP 93 pts (889 views)
Tasted by ProfByron on 3/18/2022 & rated 91 points: Savoury Champagne, very proper, even a bit stern. But interesting.

Drink now. (852 views)
Tasted by A_rytter on 2/6/2022: Bread and breadcrust, some fruity sweetness, m+ body. Nose more exoressive than taste, fine glass. (674 views)
Tasted by Orange Tsian on 12/25/2021 & rated 90 points: 瑞士卷、奶油和香草奶昔的味道比较重,香草奶昔很香,随后多碎屑的矿物、粉笔之类的味道,带有些许白花香,慢慢揭开才有一些明亮的柑橘、苹果和热带果味,比较细致。入口酸度圆润且扩散,支撑酒体,整体偏饱满干净。除了黄果之外,还有细微的树莓奶昔味,酵母味合适,还有淡淡的果脯和蜂蜜。90/100 (962 views)
Tasted by Dutchd1 on 9/6/2021 & rated 90 points: Good value for 2008 vintage. (1086 views)
Tasted by ProfByron on 4/6/2021 & rated 89 points: Not so sure of my past note. It’s flavoursome but this bottle is perhaps a tiny bit past its peak. Not for cellaring, except for the bottles with the best corks? (774 views)
 Tasted by K&J on 11/15/2020 & rated 92 points: Delicious! (706 views)
Tasted by ProfByron on 11/13/2020 & rated 91 points: Classic. Worth buying.

Drinking well now. No rush. (671 views)
(1366 views)
Tasted by PFLK on 6/19/2020 & rated 90 points: Nice and a bit demanding not only crisp. Bread and nice concentration. (528 views)
Tasted by Thefatbastard on 1/27/2019: Sans note. Bien, mais on trouve mieux pour moins cher. Pas particulièrement complexe. (1032 views)
Tasted by graemeg on 10/9/2018: "2019" Sydney International Wine Show - stewarding notes; 10/7/2018-10/12/2018 (Blue Mountains, NSW): {12%} Bread and yeast nose. Fresh palate, very dry, light-bodied, surprisingly under-developed for a decade old, but likely a recent disgorgement I should think. Less yeasty on the palate then you’d think. Medium acid, and with medium-sized delicate bubbles. Medium length finish, and seems like a wine which needs to cellar a while longer now. (1262 views)
Tasted by maxima on 6/29/2018 & rated 89 points: Bu en succ.
Un peu cher mais c`est vif et précis.
Vineux à souhait avec des amandes et du beurre, un peu de pommes aussi.
Bien. (1265 views)

Joseph Perrier

Champagne
Producer: Champagne Joseph Perrier
The History of the House of Joseph Perrier can be traced back to the end of the 18th Century where Alexandre Perrier ran a wine business under the name Perrier & Fils. In 1825, Joseph, the son of Alexandre Perrier took charge of Perrier & Fils. He purchased a large house with chalk cellars, where he and his wife established the House of Joseph Perrier in (what was then called) Chalons-sur-Marne .

Joseph Perrier died in Chalons –sur-Mame in 1870. His grandson Gabriel Perrier, being without any heir, gave up the House of Joseph Perrier to Mr. Paul Pithois on 2nd August 1888. The House Joseph Perrier still belongs to this family and Mr.Jean-Claude Fourmon, the buyers great grandson is Chairman.

This House, one of the few located at Chalons-en-Champagne (formerly known as Chalons-sur-Marne ), possesses its own vineyards, made up of the best growths such as Cumieres, Damery and Hautvilliers. Champagne Joseph Perrier is not a large House, concentrating, as throughout its history, on making top quality wines for discerning customers. Champagne Joseph Perrier can meet a third of its requirements, which are completed by purchases of more than 20 growths from the Cote des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims.

Extract from Tom Stevenson book CHAMPAGNE
"House style: The wines are mellow and fruity, influenced greatly by the Pinot: they are made in a relaxed style and are very easy to drink. There have been some quite outstanding late releases of fresh Champagne classics. Joseph Perrier is one of my favourite houses".

Champagne Blend

"Champagne blend" is a classic grape blend that typically includes Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and/or Pinot Meunier in any proportions.

However, this blend can also include Arbane, Fromenteau (Pinot Gris), Petit Meslier and/or Pinot Blanc as well.

France - When it comes to wine, France stands alone. No other country can beat it in terms of consistent quality and diversity. And while many of its Region, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne most obviously, produce wine as rare, as sought-after and nearly as expensive as gold, there are just as many obscurities and values to be had from little known appellations throughout the country. To learn everything there is to know about French wine would take a lifetime. To understand and appreciate French wine, one only has to begin tasting them. Sub-Region:

Champagne - The French region of Champagne (including the cities of Rheims, Épernay, and Aÿ) was the first region in the world to make sparkling wine in any quantity. Today, the name of the region is synonymous with the finest of all sparkling wines, and wine-making traditions of Champagne have become role models for sparkling wine producers, worldwide. Surprisingly, the region of Champagne is now responsible for only one bottle in 12 of all sparkling wine produced. Styles of champagne range in sweetness ranging from an extra brut or brut 0, to the basic brut to demi sec to doux; some houses produce single vintage champagnes and others produce non-vintage (or incorporate wines/grapes of multiple vintages), often to preserve a specific taste; combinations of grape varietals; and colors, including a rosé. There are several sub-appellations, including the Valley of the Marnes river running from Épernay west, Massif de Saint-Thierry north and west of Rheims, Valley of the Ardre, the Mountains of Rheims (between Rheims and Épernay), Côte des Blancs, Côte de Sézanne, and Côte des Bar in the South. Champagne wine only uses three grape varietals (cépages): Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.
