| Community Tasting Notes (average 81.3 pts. and median of 86 pts. in 8 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by Psdycp on 12/9/2021 & rated 85 points: Balanced aroma of mulberries and English breakfast tea with toasted almond. Palate echoed the nose and it is clean but rather light for a Zin. Spicy and nutty towards the finish which is chalky and grapey. Lacking the density and boldness of a classic Californian Zin. (869 views) | | Tasted by Riccardo Vigoli on 12/20/2019 & rated 77 points: Smell of vinegar. Strawberry. Light roses. Dark taste. (1521 views) | | Tasted by JCherniak on 6/1/2019 & rated 86 points: Nose of mushroom and red fruit. Flavour of raspberry and spice, but not much excitement. A bit puckering. (1604 views) | | Tasted by JohnnyUtah18 on 12/20/2018 & rated 55 points: Nope (2390 views) | | Tasted by BrendanMcS on 12/1/2018 & rated 89 points: A real bargain here. Definitely a solid go to wine. A nice and balanced Zin that shows big and has a good spice to it. (2258 views) | | Tasted by Camvin on 11/14/2018: 3 1/4 (1639 views) |
| Ravenswood Producer websiteZinfandel ZAP: Zinfandel Advocates & Producers | Varietal character (Appellation America) | Wikipedia-ZinfandelUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson CaliforniaNapa Valley.http://www.stagecoachvineyard.com/vineyards/our_vineyards.php Santa Ynez.http://www.everyvine.com/org/Camp_Four/vineyard/Camp_Four/ |
