Community Tasting Notes (average 91.5 pts. and median of 92 pts. in 26 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Rosal on 7/15/2023 & rated 91 points: Nose: Medium aromas of Lemon Peel, Wax and hints of Floral.

Palate: Dry. Medium Acidity. Low Tannin. Medium Body. Pronounced Flavour Intensity of Honey Suckle, Vanilla and Apple Pears. Medium Finish of Juicy Apple Pears. (578 views)
Tasted by houstonjeff@hotmail.com on 3/5/2023 & rated 93 points: nicely aged Bordeaux Blanc. Mellow acidity with fresh fruit and complex tastes. We really enjoyed this wine on a warm spring evening by the pool. Enjoy now. (570 views)
Tasted by skurtz on 8/21/2022 & rated 92 points: Consistent with my previous notes, this wine tastes like lemon and sunshine. It paired well with sushi and a tomato salad. (1063 views)
Tasted by skurtz on 4/29/2022 & rated 92 points: Great wine to start our Bdx celebration dinner party. Lots of lemon, pineapple, and melon, well balanced with a clean finish. Superb! (1224 views)
Tasted by Perthor01 on 11/2/2021 & rated 93 points: great wine - the semillon kicking in now.... (1553 views)
Tasted by curtr on 5/15/2021 & rated 91 points: Nice citrus and depth. Lively acidity. (1449 views)
Tasted by Trinkreif on 10/10/2020 & rated 92 points: A fruity wine with drive and depth. Green pear, apple, pink grapefruit and tangerine peel in the nose, creamy on the palate with an energetic and juicy finish with lemon and a bit salt, stimulating appetite and thirst. Nice one. (1620 views)
Tasted by Ashdene on 9/5/2020 & rated 92 points: Yellow gold in colour. Subtle bouquet which changed in the glass. Initially a hint of pineapple, then melon and a hint of herb/ spice. Big wine. Nice weight in the mouth. Dry but with a hint of sweetness, especially with food. Good acidity. A long finish. A really classy wine. Very good (1367 views)
Tasted by skurtz on 8/15/2020 & rated 93 points: Intense nose of herbs and minerals, but on the palate wow, bright lemony citrus, melon, tropical fruit, gycerine heft, mineral in the long finish. One of my favorite white wines this summer! Paired well with my grilled burger. 92/93 (1446 views)
Tasted by Richard Nabavi on 4/18/2020 & rated 92 points: Attractive pale colour. There was a whiff of sulphur on the nose on opening but this soon blew away to reveal a fine bouquet of agrume, minerality and floral notes. On the palate it is quite complex and rich, but it finishes on long fresh aftertaste with just the right amount of refreshing acidity. This is really very good for a non-classed growth at this price point.

Drink now for a fresh, youthful style or keep for a more mellow experience in two or three years. (1379 views)
Tasted by CellarBord on 12/13/2019: 8 bottles served at a dinner. This was a night of bottle variation. 1 was oxidized and not served, 2 were slightly off and 5 were in great shape. I tested all before the meal. I enjoyed this at our June 25th event with no issue. The good bottles showed grapefruit and paired nicely with roasted bombster scallop. The scallop gave the wine a sense of lesser intensity. I thought the Striped Bass made a better pairing option. (1287 views)
Tasted by CellarBord on 6/25/2019 & rated 92 points: Nice depth and already developed enough to pair well with pan-seared striped bass with braised leeks. (1290 views)
Tasted by Mathijs81 on 6/16/2019 & rated 91 points: First of four bottles, purchased in local supermarket at 31€ / bottle.

+ Colour : straw yellow, with a few hints of greenish taint. Silky, narrow tears running down the glass
+ Nose : plenty of agrum, zeste of lime & orange, some pineapple, mineral and quite grassy
+ Taste : bone dry, very mineral like, salty, good acidity, nice and greasy from the Semilion
+ Finish : good length, pear, white stone fruits, mineral, slightly more greasy as well

Well made ... still its missing some depth and complexity to match the big Pessac boys.
But then again, at its current price range, you get a lot of white Pessac for your buck !

Tasted by Zweder on 2/25/2019 & rated 91 points: UCGB tasting Bordeaux 2016 (Beurs van Berlage, Amsterdam.): Creamy bouquet with vanilla as well. On the palate white fruits, oak, focused acidity and some pleasant bitterness. 91+ (2032 views)
Tasted by Jeff Leve on 2/11/2019 & rated 91 points: The waxy, lemon peel and grapefruit are sweetened with hints of vanilla and honeysuckle. Sweet, juicy and fresh you can enjoy this on release. (1803 views)
Tasted by La Cave d'Argent on 1/26/2019 & rated 92 points: Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux 2016 Vintage Tasting (Las Vegas, NV): A pale yellow blend of 75% Sauvignon Blanc and 25% Sémillon, the 2016 Larrivet-Haut-Brion Blanc offers attractive aromas and flavors of kiwi, white peach, mango and saline. Light-to-medium-bodied, freshly acidic and seamlessly alcoholic, it is nicely dense on the middle palate and closes with a crisp and lengthy finish. Drink now-2026. (2116 views)
Tasted by Woodbridge Brad on 1/25/2019 & rated 88 points: Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux Tasting of the 2016 Vintage (Metreon San Francisco): Lovely balance, a very gentle and subdued wine, all the right elements but time is needed here for development. (1416 views)
Tasted by rjonwine@gmail.com on 1/25/2019 & rated 92 points: Light yellow color; aromatic, lemon grass, green olive, lime nose; tasty, oily textured, lime, lemon grass palate with good balancing acidity; medium-plus finish (75% Sauvignon Blanc, 25% Semillon) (1124 views)
Tasted by bestdamncab on 1/25/2019 & rated 91 points: UNION DES GRANDS CRUS DE BORDEAUX 2016 VINTAGE SAN FRANCISCO. (Metreon, San Francisco, Ca.): UNION DES GRANDS CRUS DE BORDEAUX 2016 VINTAGE SAN FRANCISCO. Nose of slate, honey, and citrus, same on the palate, medium body, tasty, opened slightly in the glass, good acid, needs 3 years to peak drinking, lovely fruit, medium finish hurt score. (1450 views)
Tasted by Aravind Asok on 1/24/2019: UGC 2019 Los Angeles (Jeremy Hotel, West Hollywood): Hmm. Closed nose, all I got was some stony minerality and the vestiges of oak influence. Soft acidity on the palate, and showed a touch thin and maybe a little green/weedy. (880 views)
Tasted by tomoem on 1/21/2019 & rated 90 points: Zachys Grands Crus de Bordeaux 2016 (New York City, NY): A respectable showing with balance. Nothing particularly special but not bad. Semillion really does balance the SB moreso in this wines than others tonight. (1231 views)
Tasted by skurtz on 12/18/2018 & rated 92 points: Opened at 1862. Impressive citrus and tropic fruits on the nose and palate. A pleasure! (767 views)
Tasted by Jeff Leve on 4/29/2017 & rated 92 points: Vanilla with a healthy dose of pomelo, lemon peel and honeysuckle are all over the place here, finishing with another blast of juicy lemons. (1523 views)
Tasted by Jeff Leve on 4/29/2017 & rated 92 points: Soft, medium bodied, forward, elegant and refined, the fruit is ripe, plummy and smoky. The tannins are silky and the finish is refined. (2178 views)

Vins Bordeaux (Conseil Interprofessionnel du Vin de Bordeaux)

History of Bordeaux

History of 1855 Bordeaux Classification

"2009 is all about ripeness, with wines impressively packed with ripe fruit and high alcohol levels. They are showy, in-your-face, and full of pleasure. The 2010s have the fruit and alcohol levels of the 2009s, but with a compelling freshness on the finish that balances the fruit and provides a perfect sense of structure." - Ben Nelson

"2016 is a landmark vintage in certain spots of Bordeaux and it should be remembered as one of the most inspired campaigns of the last 40-50+ years." -Jon Rimmerman
"The quality of red Bordeaux in 2016 was universally lauded – although the response to the en primeur campaign was muted. Quantity was high too, with the equivalent of 770 million bottles of wine produced. An exceptionally dry summer with cool nights eventually, thanks to mid September rain, resulted in small, thick-skinned, ripe grapes, and the wines are marked by high tannin and acidity, with superb aromatic fragrance." - Jancis Robinson

"2017 was complicated, but there are some excellent wines. Expect plenty of freshness and drinkability from wines that will offer excellent value, and others that will rival 2016 in terms of ripeness and ageability. But they are likely to be the exception not the rule, making careful selection key." - Jane Anson

"In the past, a vintage such as 2022 may have been overripe, raisined and low in acidity but 2022 had a sneaky little reservoir in its back pocket - a near perfect marriage of cool/cold/rain the previous winter and the previous vintage that literally soaked the soils (a key to why 2022 is not 2003...or 1893)." - Jon Rimmerman
