 Tasted by 1W2T on 5/2/2024 & rated 88 points: Trevlig (159 views)
Tasted by DougLee on 9/28/2023 & rated 91 points: Salmon ruby hue. Lifted nose of violets, raspberry, rinsed stone. Crisp cranberry, red raspberry, and strawberry on the fizzy palate. Energetic acidity driving true refreshment. Wonderful with grilled salmon. Half bottle consumed on MDI. (829 views)
Tasted by astroman on 4/30/2023 & rated 90 points: Blind bubbles tasting (That Wine Place): Blinded. Base of 2017, 100% Pinot Noir, Disgorged Mar 2022 with 4g/l. Med pink almost ruby like. Much darker than the earlier rose. Lots of strawberry, red cherry, raspberry, med body. (1308 views)
Tasted by Travislee0113 on 3/22/2023 & rated 92 points: This bottle was well-matured. Nice honey nose and astringent palate; it deserves the higher classification it commands now. (1157 views)
 Tasted by Chekib m. on 12/9/2022 & rated 91 points: 2014 base, disgorged 2018.
Bit older than I would usually drink this champagne.
Color is deep pink, verging on light red.
Expressive nose with some aging. Red berries, mushroom, nuts and pastry.
Full body, frothy, Sweet Red berries flavours, dried fruits, dry with mellowed acidity. Good intensity and depth of flavours, long sweet red berries aftertaste.
Very good rose de Saignée. My favourite producer for this style of rose. (1387 views)
Tasted by mjdixon on 11/10/2022 & rated 88 points: Initial taste similar to some Alsace/Reislings with a petrol note - not really my type of thing.
This lessened over time but was always there.
Don't think it was a bottle problem?? (1358 views)
Tasted by grapenomad on 11/7/2022 & rated 90 points: Tasted the 2017 base. Moderate salmon pink in the glass. Aromas of strawberry and cream, very fruit driven at first, but opens up to secondary notes quite a bit as the wine warms up. Medium-bodied, fine mousse, high acidity. Well-rounded, well-made Champagne, but not a lot of terroir drive here. Would drink this if there was nothing else on offer. (1063 views)
Tasted by chicsucre on 10/16/2022: Strawberries and cranberries, very pleasant and food friendly

Did a half bottle at the Morris since our friends weren’t drinking (765 views)
Tasted by FiggySmalls on 10/6/2022: I rarely pile on, but my second bottle of the 2021 disgorgement shows worse than the first.

literally exploding fine mousse from a bottle that hasn't moved in days. nice cran-apple ginger ale vibe (war heads, anybody??? Now think "spiced cran-apple" flavor)

Wine is just moussey, cran-gingery stuff with a pretty color right now. Sigh (738 views)
Tasted by FiggySmalls on 9/27/2022: October 2021 disgorgement

very cranberry ginger-ale on the nose. palate is kinda the same. not a bad thing necessarily.

medium energy. has acid but overall quite rich with a slight sweetness. tons of youthful mousse even on careful pours=annoying. tiny unimpressive bead and resultant "meh" mouthfeel.

delicious and expressive but lacks anything interesting beyond the color. almost like a fizzy bottle of pale ripe vintage Burg

I remember loving this. Maybe the bottles I had back in 2020 had decent bottle age vs the youth? Or grower bottle variation? (605 views)
Tasted by ant-1 on 7/10/2022: Wow la fraise gourmande ! De la matière et des fruits rouges, j’adore. (1108 views)
Tasted by Nyllet on 6/14/2022 flawed bottle: Chemical vanilla that blows off a bit, some root vegetable, gooseberries, dirt. Must be a flawed bottle. (500 views)
Tasted by maxima on 1/11/2022 & rated 91 points: Ample et généreux, un Champagne substanciel.
Des fraises et des agrumes avec une
belle minéralité. Beaucoup de bulles fines
et persistantes.
C'est long et vineux.
EXCELLENT. (1931 views)
Tasted by dcwino on 1/9/2022 & rated 93 points: This is a large scale Champagne, very red/pinot driven. Upon release, it was a bit straightforward. With time, it developed sous bois, adding beautiful complexity. I recommend cellaring for five years or more. (1713 views)
Tasted by Chris on 1/1/2022 & rated 94 points: Deep flavor profile and fantastic rouge color. Love this wine. For less money than say a Billecart Salmon Rose, you get so much more. (1182 views)
Tasted by dcwino on 12/25/2021 & rated 93 points: Generous red fruits, this particular bottle is showing pronounced sous bois which adds nice complexity. (1712 views)

Strawberries and cranberries on this expressive and fresh Champagne, nice mousse and fairly tight bubbles, not too vinous for a PN, medium length finish with slightly tart cranberries coming back. (1670 views)
Tasted by Pimelles on 7/31/2021 & rated 92 points: Beautiful dark red color in glass.

Aromas of strawberries, watermelon jolly rancher, touch of kool aid.

Fine mouse. Effervescence disappears fairly quickly in the glass.

Red fruit, Dr. Pepper, good acidity and balance. Fairly mineral and lean with 8 g/l dosage.

Exceptionally elegant. Held its weight over the course of 4 days. (1349 views)
Tasted by Chris on 7/5/2021 & rated 97 points: Incredible rose champagne. Fantastic red color and gorgeous red fruit, more flavor than most rose champagne I've had. love this stuff! (1404 views)
Tasted by dcwino on 5/8/2021 & rated 91 points: Expressive nose displaying generous red fruit, strawberry, cherry soda, smoked salmon, cooper, sweet spices and limestone. Very good concentraion, generous sweet red fruit, medium fine abundunt mousse, warm and round, good acidity and mineral, and a medium to long sweeet red fruit driven finish. This is a full body red sparlking wine. (1931 views)
Tasted by aChave on 1/23/2021 & rated 90 points: Bright red fruit with nice balance and a frothy character. Food friendly and delicious. (1838 views)
Tasted by Gregmonroe on 12/29/2020: Deep rose color, almost opaque. Bubbles are spaced out, but continual. Smell of sweet strawberry. Flavors of strawberry and maybe watermelon candy. Sweeter than I hoped, but good. (1672 views)
Tasted by lmybudo on 12/9/2020 & rated 93 points: Beautiful deep rose color, aromas of strawberry, cherry, rhubarb, raspberry. Full acidity, creamy texture in the mouth, luscious flavors of strawberry, cherry, raspberry, watermelon and rhubarb along with a nice steely flavor to balance out the fruit. Wonderful with white cheddar, Brie, and goat cheese. (1580 views)
Tasted by Rixon on 7/5/2020 & rated 93 points: 'Consistent notes'. Oemotståndlig i all enkelhet. (2050 views)
Tasted by Rixon on 6/14/2020 & rated 93 points: En helt underbar roséchampagne. (NV René Geoffroy Rosé de Saignée) ($77.00) The demand is so feverish the wine sells out just as it’s starting to really find its fruit with a year on the cork. I tasted an ’08 cuvée disgorged 12/10, with the magnificently pretty fruit of this lovely vintage. An ’09 cuvée, disgorged the first week of March, has more body and fruit but less flower; richer, more brioche-y, more mid-palate. We’ll see it in the Fall. It does bear mentioning, our most popular Geoffroy wine is also our least dry Geoffroy wine. This in-demand fella is packing a whole 10g.l. of filthy residual sugar. Thanks for not minding!

Pinot Noir

Varietal character (Appellation America) | Varietal article (Wikipedia)
Pinot Noir is the Noble red grape of Burgundy, capable of ripening in a cooler climate, which Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot will not reliably do. It is unpredictable and difficult both to grow and to vinify, but results in some of the finest reds in the world. It is believed to have been selected from wild vines two thousand years ago. It is also used in the production of champagne. In fact, more Pinot Noir goes into Champagne than is used in all of the Cote d'Or! It is also grown in Alsace, Jura, Germany, the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Romania, Switzerland, Austria, Croatia, Serbia, Italy, and so forth, with varying degrees of success.

Pinot Noir is one of the world's most prestigious grapes. It is very difficult to grow and thrives well in France, especially in Champagne and Burgundy. Pinot Noir thrives less in hot areas, is picky on soil, and deserves some oak storage.

Pinot Noir, or Blauburgunder / Spätburgunder in German, is a blue grapevine - and, as the German name suggests, the grape comes originally from Burgundy in France.

The grape, which thrives in calcareous soils, is used primarily for the production of red wine, and it is widely regarded as producing some of the best wines in the world. The wine style is often medium-bodied with high fruit acidity and soft tannins. It can be quite peculiar in fragrance and taste, and not least in structure - which may be why it is referred to as "The Grapes Ballerina".
Pinot Noir is also an important ingredient in sparkling wines, not least in champagne since it is fruity, has good acidity and contains relatively little tannins.
The grape is considered quite demanding to grow. The class itself consists of tightly packed grapes, which makes it more sensitive to rot and other diseases.

Pinot Noir changes quite easily and is genetically unstable. It buds and matures early which results in it often being well ripened. Climate is important for this type of grape. It likes best in cool climates - in warm climates the wines can be relaxed and slightly pickled.
In cooler climates, the wine can get a hint of cabbage and wet leaves, while in slightly warmer regions we often find notes of red berries (cherries, strawberries, raspberries, currants), roses and slightly green notes when the wine is young. With age, more complex aromas of forest floor, fungi and meat emerge.

In Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Hungary, it often produces light wines with less character. However, it has produced very good results in California, Oregon and New Zealand.

With its soft tannins and delicate aroma, it is excellent for white fish, chicken and light meat. For the stored wines you can serve small game. Classic duck breast is a matter of course, a Boeuf Burgundy and Pinot Noir are pure happiness.

Pinot Noir loses quality by over-harvesting.
Pinot Noir is prone to diseases, especially rot and mildew. Viruses cause major problems especially in Burgundy.
Pinot Noir are large round grapes with thin skins. Relatively high in alcohol content. Medium rich tannins and good with acid.
As a young person, Pinot Noir has a distinctly fruity character such as raspberries, cherries and strawberries.
A mature Pinot Noir, the taste is different. Cherry goes into plum and prune flavors. It smells of rotten leaves, coffee, moist forest floor and animal wine. This must be experienced.
In warm climates you find boiled plum, some rustic, little acid.
If the grapes are over-grown, the wine will be thin, with little color and flavor.

Champagne

Le Champagne (Le comité interprofessionnel du vin de Champagne) | Grandes Marques & Maisons de Champagne (Union des Maisons de Champagne)

France - When it comes to wine, France stands alone. No other country can beat it in terms of consistent quality and diversity. And while many of its Region, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne most obviously, produce wine as rare, as sought-after and nearly as expensive as gold, there are just as many obscurities and values to be had from little known appellations throughout the country. To learn everything there is to know about French wine would take a lifetime. To understand and appreciate French wine, one only has to begin tasting them. Click for a list of bestselling items from all of France.
Sub-Region:

Champagne - The French region of Champagne (including the cities of Rheims, Épernay, and Aÿ) was the first region in the world to make sparkling wine in any quantity. Today, the name of the region is synonymous with the finest of all sparkling wines, and wine-making traditions of Champagne have become role models for sparkling wine producers, worldwide. Surprisingly, the region of Champagne is now responsible for only one bottle in 12 of all sparkling wine produced. Styles of champagne range in sweetness ranging from an extra brut or brut 0, to the basic brut to demi sec to doux; some houses produce single vintage champagnes and others produce non-vintage (or incorporate wines/grapes of multiple vintages), often to preserve a specific taste; combinations of grape varietals; and colors, including a rosé. There are several sub-appellations, including the Valley of the Marnes river running from Épernay west, Massif de Saint-Thierry north and west of Rheims, Valley of the Ardre, the Mountains of Rheims (between Rheims and Épernay), Côte des Blancs, Côte de Sézanne, and Côte des Bar in the South. Champagne wine only uses three grape varietals (cépages): Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.
