Tasted by Guarded by Griffs on 11/24/2022 & rated 92 points: Very good. Still within the window, but I’f you’re thinking about it drink it. (471 views)
Tasted by Tony Poli on 9/18/2020 & rated 87 points: At a blind tasting, theme was Merlot, minimum 10 years old. Obviously new world, all guessed California. Dark purple, no real signs of age. Nose had dark fruits, plums, cassis. Palate had some complexity, but one could really taste the alcohol. Long finish. Started off the tasting, was soon eclipsed. Not bad, not great. (1280 views)
Tasted by BostonDoug on 6/17/2019 & rated 89 points: Others seem to have found this faded, I still get good (aged) fruit, ripe plumb. Good tannic and acidic structure. I recall not loving this wine when I first bought it some years ago but I think it's aged well. (1809 views)
Tasted by SumCellar on 1/13/2019 & rated 82 points: Fruit is gone. (2037 views)
Tasted by Barry Notes on 8/23/2018 & rated 84 points: PnP, splash decant, returned to bottle. Clear, deep red/brown/purple. Rich nose. This was disappointing. Heavy, black fruit, flat, earthy, maybe waited too long. Full body, long finish. $43 (2292 views)
Tasted by TheWineyChef on 12/25/2016 & rated 91 points: Perfectly aged Merlot drinking great, softened tannins and deep fruit. Drink now and enjoy. Wish I had a few more (3625 views)
Tasted by artp on 12/15/2016 & rated 89 points: Drinkable. Opened up after 30 minutes. Classic Merlot. (2896 views)
Tasted by garygailkrivan on 11/4/2016 & rated 91 points: Thought this has really matured since tasting it at the winery years ago. The tannins have softened, there's some cherry and blackberry's on the nose and pallet, with hints of tobacco. (2757 views)
Tasted by fredpalmer68@gmail.com on 3/13/2016: 3-13 Opened early in the day around 1pm to have with steak at night. (3286 views)

Tasted by JuliannaDHS on 8/3/2015 & rated 91 points: My last and best bottle. Once again there are aromas and flavors of cherry and plum but now I get spices and leather as well. I also like the Bordeaux green glass bottle. I believe I'll get more of this. (2296 views)
Tasted by pamitos on 5/15/2015 & rated 90 points: Decanted it for n hour before drinking and it still needed an hour more to smooth out, taste of berries with a soft finish (1786 views)

Tasted by 1H2oMan on 11/14/2014 & rated 87 points: This is better the 2nd day, It should be drinking well now. The last bottle on had was Feb 2013 and I rated it higher score (2481 views)
Tasted by bu11itt on 10/24/2014 & rated 90 points: Extremely fruit forward on the nose. Light mouthfeel with typically weak, but structured, tannins and a slightly dry finish. (1791 views)
Tasted by danielbleier on 10/18/2014 & rated 88 points: Nicely understated - plum and black olive notes (2070 views)
Tasted by bkay on 7/5/2014 & rated 92 points: Drinking nicely now. Smooth after only an hour of decanting (2460 views)
Tasted by Delli on 5/19/2014 & rated 92 points: This was a very nice wine. Purple and opaque right to the edge of the glass; I'm left to wonder if a little petit verdot might have made it into the mix. The nose is dominated by floral notes. The palate adds dark fruit, chocolate and mocha. The finish is medium in duration and features sour cherries. 5+13+16+8=92 (2054 views)
Tasted by dbanks on 8/9/2013 & rated 85 points: Tracy says average. Flavorful but weak finish. (3955 views)

Merlot

Merlot is a dark blue–colored wine grape variety, that is used as both a blending grape and for varietal wines. The name Merlot is thought to be a diminutive of merle, the French name for the blackbird, probably a reference to the color of the grape. Its softness and "fleshiness", combined with its earlier ripening, makes Merlot a popular grape for blending with the sterner, later-ripening Cabernet Sauvignon, which tends to be higher in tannin.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
