Tasted by WineGuyFL on 1/25/2024 & rated 93 points: Last bottle. This has been a great Cabernet Sauvignon. The bottle was opened for about one and a half hours. Still drinking very well. (501 views)
Tasted by WineGuyFL on 10/31/2023 & rated 93 points: This has been a great wine. It continues to drink very well. One bottle left. Just opened it for an hour to an hour and a half. (639 views)
Tasted by JTA9904 on 10/21/2023 & rated 93 points: Still fantastic. Popped and poured, no decant necessary. Very aromatic nose, and still has a structure of fruit and well integrated tannins. Delicious with meatloaf. Nice finish as well. Drink now, it’s still in a nice window. (664 views)
Tasted by BernieMSY on 10/19/2023 & rated 94 points: Opened 90 minutes prior to tasting.
Dark magenta color; leather nose.
After
Dense and chewy. Lots of dark fruit with a pronounced cocoa/mocha flavor profile. The tannins have receded, as has the overtly fruit-bomb profile that was apparent shortly after bottling. This will be continues to evolve in an interesting manner, but I suggest drinking it sooner rather than later.
It may have several good years ahead of it, but I don’t see it getting any better than it is right now. (656 views)
Tasted by AAJR on 10/15/2023 & rated 93 points: Last bottle, drinking remarkably well. Soft tannins with berry, plum & space flavors. Glad I save this one, wish I had a few more... (724 views)
Tasted by WineGuyFL on 8/14/2023 & rated 93 points: Just like a bottle consumed two years ago. Drinking very well, but I have 2025 down as the last year in my drink window. I am inclined to stick with that year. It is not going to get better from here. (569 views)
Tasted by MrD on 5/6/2023: Delicious! (631 views)
Tasted by vitroman on 4/3/2023 & rated 92 points: This wine was much more enjoyable on the second day. Distinct notes of chocolate and mocha on the nose and palette. This would definitely cellar for a while longer, but is drinking very well right now. (542 views)
Tasted by cheetadad on 12/22/2022 & rated 90 points: - Brick color - Inky purple and dense. No air necessary. Wonderful vanilla nose. Fruit is front and center followed by heavy oak, which lingers on while the fruit fades rather quickly. I think its beginning its downward journey. Drink up if you still have some. (922 views)
Tasted by JGinMO on 11/29/2022 & rated 92 points: Still years left in the tank (971 views)
Tasted by MrD on 9/13/2022: Delicious! (1064 views)
Tasted by Zinlady on 7/11/2022 & rated 95 points: Wow so dark. Great nose wonderful with steak. Still tannic Was opened two days before Lots of sediment (1116 views)
Tasted by BernieMSY on 7/2/2022 & rated 94 points: Delicious (1065 views)
Tasted by BernieMSY on 4/4/2022 & rated 94 points: Popped and poured.
Dark, nearly opaque purple;
Beautifully integrated. Lots of dark blue/black fruit, with cedar pencil, leather and a ever-so-slight touch of mint. Tannins are well-integrated and the finish goes on and on.
Give Parker credit: he called this one a gem upon release, back when the winery was not well known. This is a tour de force. (1076 views)
Tasted by ppcwino on 2/25/2022 & rated 91 points: My last bottle of 2 cases. I had saved this last one for about 5 years. Was still very good, but faded a little after about 4 hours. Probably still has decent life left, but probably might not want to wait 5 more years before drinking. (1117 views)
Tasted by dsimmons on 12/28/2021 & rated 90 points: I like it but not as good as a bottle I drank in '18. Still plenty of fruit and good balance. Drink up. (1420 views)
Tasted by mtwehr on 12/27/2021 & rated 87 points: Opened for Christmas dinner: PnP. Big berry notes on the nose. Big jammy full-bodied with softer dusty tannins. Rather one-dimensional, it was very fruit-forward (dark berries) and just a big gob of flavor. It also lacked drive and energy and seemed a bit hot at 14.5 percent alcohol. (1071 views)
Tasted by zanzabar on 12/25/2021 & rated 94 points: Perfectly stored, short cork held up well. Wine decanted about an hour and this was singing and still had room to unfold after 3 hours. I say of you have them and they've been well stored and untouched for years then they should have a few more years left.

Gotta be honest, I figured this would be over the hill, but its still climbing. Kudos Hall, I'd take this over younger more expensive bottelings. (1018 views)
Tasted by vinko84 on 11/22/2021 & rated 93 points: Fully matured Napa Cab. Nothing else to say. (1080 views)
Tasted by Robwild on 11/22/2021 & rated 92 points: Full bodied. Supple and well balanced. Raspberries, blueberries, vanilla, cherry and cassis. Soft tannins. A delightful Napa Cab. (990 views)
Tasted by BernieMSY on 10/26/2021 & rated 95 points: 45 minute decant
Medium purple color, savory nose. Fresh blackberry/blueberry fruit, balanced by cedar pencil, leather and roast meat. Structured, but tannins have softened. Nice, long concentrated finish. Quite delicious. Drinking very well. Easily the best bottle of the two cases I bought on release. (1062 views)
Tasted by WineGuyFL on 8/23/2021 & rated 93 points: I agree with another recent reviewer......drinking very well right now with no tannins. While that is a good thing from a drinking enjoyment point of view, it also means this one will not last forever. I have had 2025 down as the last year of my drink window. Based on this tasting, that is the latest year I would use. (1239 views)
Tasted by Good2drink on 6/17/2021 & rated 93 points: Sipped it without food. Wonderful. Full bodied, smooth and complex with no tannins (1338 views)
Tasted by rocknroller on 6/12/2021 & rated 89 points: Very dark red/purple color. PNP, drank a couple glasses over 3 hours. Less giving nose at first, gradually becoming more interesting with dark fruits; blackberry, a little sweetness on the nose, On the palate, full bodied with rather firmish tannins and a green streak that distracts; tart black currants and black cherry fruit with pleasant underbrush and dried woodsy qualities; strong peppery finish. Good, but falls a little short for me. (1450 views)
Tasted by RCS73 on 4/18/2021 & rated 94 points: Really in a great spot right now.

Complete first layer of berry jam, mocha, crushed flowers, and cinnamon. Secondary palate of camphor and pencil - lead almost Bordeaux like.

Thick and unctuous - very nice (453 views)

Hall

Producer website
Since first working in her family’s Mendocino vineyards, Kathryn Hall dreamed of a place to showcase fine wines alongside expressive art and masterful architecture. Now, Kathryn and Craig Hall are creating an unrivalled destination
in the Napa Valley—where winemaking excellence meets contemporary design to celebrate life and inspire the senses. In 2005, Craig and Kathryn Hall unveiled a state-of-the-art winery amid the legendary Sacrashe Vineyard in the hills
of Rutherford that is dedicated to making single vineyard and limited-production wines. The Halls acquired the historic Bergfeld winery in St. Helena in 2003, and are merging history and innovation with the completion of California's
First Winery to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Gold Certification.

HALL’s estate vineyards encompass more than five hundred acres of classic Bordeaux varietals; Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Sauvignon Blanc.
As winegrowers, the Halls have a strong respect for the environment and a commitment to cutting-edge vineyard technology to yield the highest quality grapes.
Through meticulous attention to detail in the vineyards, HALL wines are able to express the unique and diverse character of Napa Valley’s soils and climate.

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
