Tasted by cobystilp on 12/17/2017 & rated 89 points: Aged, funky and beautiful. Amen. (1506 views)
Tasted by Altonplace on 7/28/2014: Thin and dull but not objectionable for a dinner party. No need to go back to Falesco. (4511 views)
Tasted by hkm520240 on 2/9/2014 & rated 86 points: Dark garnet core, showing nose of plum, red fruits and hints of leather. The palate is soft and subtle, with plum, cherries and earthy undertone. Medium finish with soft chewy tannins. Pretty straightforward and a little boring too. (5305 views)
Tasted by winegr on 4/13/2013 & rated 88 points: I would downgrade this a bit. It has developed and is more open, but fades a bit quickly and is slightly less interesting. Still solid. (6833 views)
Tasted by wtianseter on 2/16/2013 & rated 80 points: My perspective is much different than those few raters that gave comments here in CT and the pro rating it has gotten.
There is no way I would have picked this as a Merlot had it not been on the label. The wine was a surprising rose red. The nose was dusty very light fruit and some spice. The taste was very thin muddled together red fruits and as I drank it, the wine became thinner. The wine almost immediately took on a taste of out of balance acid and that character applied to the finish as well. There was a very light tannic tone to the finish. I bought one bottle to try before I bought more---I doubt I'll be spending any more money on this wine (6999 views)
Tasted by Swaggering Beaunie on 2/8/2013 & rated 90 points: Very nice wine. Burgundian nose with the faintest hint of Brettanomyces. Round, well-balanced palate; nice tannins, hint of oak, and long finish. Not complex, but superb as an ordinary drinker...great QPR on this wine...one of the best under-$15 bottles out there. Definitely will buy more.

Edited to add: there is not much aging potential in this wine; this is one to buy for immediate drinking. (6273 views)
Tasted by mutantwine on 2/3/2013 & rated 86 points: Classic Merlot and exelent value. (3528 views)
Tasted by RossoVino on 12/20/2012 & rated 87 points: The wine looks Ruby colored. It tastes of red berries maybe Cranberry, and Plum. The body is Medium. The wine finishes Medium. A nice simple merlot, good every day type of wine. (3143 views)
Tasted by widgiemooltha on 11/22/2012 & rated 87 points: Very drinkable. Simple straightforward motto obols (2433 views)
Tasted by wahoo70 on 9/13/2012 & rated 89 points: Great merlot - rich, chewy and perfectly balanced. Translucent ruby purple color; reticent nose, as noted by many previous reviewers, with blackcurrants, plums, cranberries and a touch of leather; clean, pure, rich fruit flavors, especially blackberries, cranberries and plums, a touch of vanilla, and a dose of bitter coffee, with a savory note (leather perhaps); chewy tannins for balance, and a long, dark finish. A wonderful surprise and terrific value - great candidate for house wine. As suggested in winemakers notes, went perfectly with Indian chicken tikka masala, and very well with spicy barbecue beef dish the next day. (2754 views)
Tasted by cobystilp on 8/28/2012 & rated 89 points: Very good. Drank over many nights. Became deeper and more complex. Good signs of things to come. Just plain awesome QPR. (2786 views)
Tasted by urban_dk on 8/26/2012 & rated 91 points: As advertised by the winemaker, this merlot bridges Old World and New World styles. Big dark-cherry fruit at the beginning with an austere, dry finish. Not too big on the acidity, but still a wine that needs to be paired with bold meat or pasta dishes. Impressive for the price. (2720 views)
Tasted by Sauvyfan on 8/17/2012 & rated 89 points: Great value. See previous notes. (2855 views)
Tasted by yui on 6/13/2012 & rated 89 points: boring in the beginning, but forgot about it in the fridge for about 4 days. It was waaay better then. (2957 views)
Tasted by jamesmichaelgardner on 5/29/2012 & rated 84 points: Smooth fruits and florals after sitting, light leather, oils, lingering finish, hint of spice bite, ash red color, agree with the "synthetic" taste notes below. (2938 views)
Tasted by mau on 5/6/2012 & rated 86 points: Alright wine, nothing special in my taste (3093 views)
Tasted by BrettMansdorf on 2/14/2012 & rated 89 points: Nice finish - smooth - lots of berries, perhaps some vanilla... Definitely full bodied - great deal. (1004 views)
Tasted by Carstennoe on 2/7/2012 & rated 85 points: Nose opulent fruit with a slight synthetic hint. Palate also very opulent. Dark fruit and again the synthetic taint. Good acid and prominent tannins. I don’t really care for the synthetic quality of the wine, but aside from that it is a solid wine with room for improvement. (3913 views)
 Tasted by Seanmurphy1661 on 2/1/2012 & rated 88 points: Smooth (3966 views)
Tasted by yui on 1/4/2012 & rated 90 points: crowd pleaser. QPR (4475 views)
Tasted by cobystilp on 12/20/2011 & rated 90 points: Gulpable (4406 views)
Tasted by cobystilp on 12/11/2011 & rated 91 points: This bottle is great. I expect some bottle variation given my last two. This one tastes like it has been laid down for about 5 years. Well integrated, mature, dark, brooding. Leather nose and tastes. Saddle oil. Deep purple violets underneath. Awesome. I hope my last 10 bottles are like this one. (4520 views)
Tasted by Sauvyfan on 10/9/2011 & rated 90 points: Great old world style merlot with great earthy notes on the nose and palate. Big juicy plum on the palate, with some chocolate notes. Awesome QPR. Recommend drinking it in one night. Not nearly as good on day two. (5076 views)
Tasted by PrebenDK on 9/8/2011 & rated 90 points: Decanted and aerated for 2 hrs. This time and treatment is necessary at the present ageing level (2 years). Color bright red. Nose with plums and prunes. Nice and mature. Taste again with plums and prunes, later licorice too. Aftertaste medium long. Tannins silky like a typical Merlot. A great bargain for 50 Danish kroner (equals less than 10 $ !) (5151 views)
Tasted by VitK on 8/3/2011 & rated 80 points: too much kick, harsh on pallet (5391 views)

Merlot

Merlot is a dark blue–colored wine grape variety, that is used as both a blending grape and for varietal wines. The name Merlot is thought to be a diminutive of merle, the French name for the blackbird, probably a reference to the color of the grape. Its softness and "fleshiness", combined with its earlier ripening, makes Merlot a popular grape for blending with the sterner, later-ripening Cabernet Sauvignon, which tends to be higher in tannin.
