The wine looks crimson colored. The legs are medium. There is light sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry and nutmeg. It tastes like blackberry. The body is medium. The wine has silky texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity. (1236 views)

 Tasted by jonahfactor on 3/23/2019: Cellared since release. Leathery and tannic out of the bottle. But unwinds in the glass to reveal considerable charm. Black plums, raspberries, ripe cherries with a lovely mineral backbone. Long, satisfying finish. The CT scores don’t do this justice. I’d put this in the mid-90s. But decant generously first.  Tasted by mtaczak on 11/10/2018: Drank alongside the 2010. 2010 holding up much better. 09 tastes much more advanced and not in a good way. Some of the funk blew off but it stayed kind of off-putting, compared to the 10 that was silky smooth and ready to go. (1642 views)
 Tasted by mclanew on 12/27/2017 & rated 91 points: At first somewhat impenetrable with black fruit, leather, forest floor flavors enveloped with mouth coating tannins. Over a couple hours of air it evolved, fleshing out a bit and becoming a bit more accessible and enjoyable. I think this is a well made wine that could use a few more years and or a decent decant.  Tasted by tward on 9/16/2017 & rated 91 points: This compared very favorably against a bottle consumed three years ago (Sept. 2014). My private note then was "Had over two nights. Decanted, kept half overnight in decanter with plastic wrap on top in wine closet. A bit dissapointing and the depth grew on the 2nd night but became a bit raisiny and almost cooked. It's good, but I'm not sure about it right now."

This time it really showed well. Note that it has been kept in good, but imperfect conditions, dark, but with seasonal temperature fluctuating from upper 50's to mid-upper 60's. So it's effective age is probably about 2021 vs. ideal conditions.

It gets right up to the edge of that southern Rhone / CdP too-ripe fruit, but doesn't cross the line. Big and burly, with a combination of dark, very ripe fruit and fresher red fruits. I got mint, dark chocolate, eucalyptus, black tea, garrigue. Really liked it on PnP and it opened a bit over a couple of hours. (1781 views)

Admittedly a short decant and we drank ove rtwo hours so didnt really give it good time. Maybe that the mouvedre made this way to tight and needs a few years but i am not sure. Fiercely tannic, and I enjoy cleansing tannins, but without the astringency you would get in a Cab. I would suggest a long decant or wait 4 or 5 more years. I love the idea of a MTG blend. I reserved 1/2 bottle in a 1/2 bottle and it was still interesting with smoky mission figs and dark chocolate on day 3. There's wet carob in the nose. Maybe not quite as over the top excellent as some others in their line, but we fully enjoyed it. I was especially intrigued by the Tannat with Mourvedre and Grenache. In some ways, to my taste, the Mourvedre was more dominant than I would have first expected (thought it's 56%, I expected to taste more of the 23% Tannat). Improved with time out of the bottle, so while drinking well, it would suggest holding off for another year or two on any other bottles. (1691 views)

Tablas Creek

Tablas Creek Vineyard, founded by the Perrin family of Chateau de Beaucastel and Robert Haas of Vineyard Brands, is dedicated to growing grape varieties traditional to France's Rhone Valley. The partners chose hilly western Paso Robles for its limestone soils, rugged terrain, and ocean influence. All Tablas Creek wines are estate grown using environmentally sustainable practices.

Mourvedre (56%) provides dark red fruit, earth, spice, and mid-palate richness while Tannat (23%) adds dark color, smoky, spicy flavors and firm tannins and Grenache (21%) brightens everything with forward fruit, approachability and lushnes.600 cases produced.

A spicy nose of black olive, dark chocolate, menthol, and blue fruits. The mouth is powerfully structured showing flavors of fig, briary fruit, pepper spice and a spurprisingly creamy texture with fine, chalky tannins. The finish shows Tannat's characteristic firmness leavened by bright acids and a a pretty floral note from Granache. For now, pair with substantial food like wild boar ragout or pasta putanesca, or lay it down for a decade or more. (8/11)

Red Rhone Blend

On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.

A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.
