Thumbs up sad its my last bottle (1579 views) | | Tasted by OttawaB on 7/10/2014 & rated 89 points: Nice, balanced, medium weight. Drank at a meal and do not have more detailed notes other then I enjoyed it as a simple but tasty wine. (1702 views) | | Tasted by Rondelet on 1/31/2014 & rated 88 points: Bought this wine direct from Bill at the Winery. In the glass, it’s a deep garnet red. The nose is great and has a lot going. Med+ intensity and developing with aromas of black fruit, cherry, liquorice, fruit cake and a hint of mint, as well as a slight minerality. On the palate, the tannins are high and bit dry/woody. Intensity is not as high as the nose, but very fruit forward with lots of black cherry, plum, some red fruit and blueberry accents and black pepper. However, there is also a somewhat bitter tea leaf/tobacco type accent that mars the finish. This is too bad, as the wine is excellent up until then. This settles down with some time in the glass, but it affects the final score for me. (1942 views) | | Tasted by Weston3220 on 9/12/2013 & rated 90 points: slightly closed nose to start, with nice woody stems, on the palate beautiful togetherness, composed, with a blanace of fruit and woody vegetal notes that are in harmony, fruit with acid with vegetal wood stemmy notes, so elegant yet has some meat on its bone
conc: love this wine showing really well, will see how day 2 is also (2074 views) | | Tasted by Merrit on 8/7/2012 & rated 90 points: This bottle was opened two nights ago at my wedding, but wasn't finished. It's drinking wonderfully tonight. It's got a luscious strawberry and cherry nose. The palate erupts with cherry, strawberry, dark chocolate and just the right amount of oak. The lengthy finish evolves from sweet cherry to an herby flavor, to smoke, and then back to a lovely candied fruit taste. The balance of fruit, alcohol, acid and tannin is perfect - everything is in its right place. This is outstanding wine at the three-year mark. conc: Delicious but really needs time [but can drink now for sure!] (2196 views) | | Tasted by Weston3220 on 9/23/2011: No Formal Tasting Note. Poured into a decant quick swirl for 5mins, then drank, tasty and delicious nice full body rich but with good acidity, oak is there but in good use, nice beautiful fruit (1837 views) | | Tasted by Chateau du Fey 1994 on 8/25/2011 & rated 89 points: Fairview is one of the few BC wineries that does a great cab blend IMO. Two Hoots is not as good as the Bear but is still excellent. And great value. Soft fruits with balanced acidity and a nice finsih. Drinking well now but has potential to improve with time. | Fairview Cellars Producer Website Producer Location (Google Maps)Red Bordeaux BlendRed Bordeaux is generally made from a blend of grapes. Permitted grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and rarely Carménère.Today Carménère is rarely used, with Château Clerc Milon, a fifth growth Bordeaux, being one of the few to still retain Carménère vines. As of July 2019, Bordeaux wineries authorized the use of four new red grapes to combat temperature increases in Bordeaux. These newly approved grapes are Marselan, Touriga Nacional, Castets, and Arinarnoa.
Wineries all over the world aspire to making wines in a Bordeaux style. In 1988, a group of American vintners formed The Meritage Association to identify wines made in this way. Although most Meritage wines come from California, there are members of the Meritage Association in 18 states and five other countries, including Argentina, Australia, Canada, Israel, and Mexico.Canadahttps://www.winegrowerscanada.ca/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_wineBritish Columbia Wines of British Columbia (British Columbia Wine Institute)Okanagan Valley Okanagan Valley (British Columbia Wine Institute)Okanagan Valley VQA Okanagan Valley (British Columbia Wine Institute)
