Tasted by SeattlePaul on 4/16/2023: I think this one was a little bit over the hill. Not as big as one would expect... everything from fruit to oak to acid was just... attenuated. (572 views)
Tasted by mkparker on 9/4/2021: na (334 views)
Tasted by kanab ram on 9/19/2020: Still drinking well but the fruit is diminishing. Updating the drinking window to drink now. (921 views)
Tasted by suburbanfrog on 12/29/2018 & rated 93 points: A great Merlot that definitely benefited with age for those who stored properly and were patient. Great fruit and actually shows a sense of place having had wines from this area. (779 views)
Tasted by Loren Sonkin on 7/31/2016 & rated 88 points: A bunch of Sineann with friends (Our home): Very enjoyable. Nice cherry fruit, some spice on the nose. On the palate, this is drinking quite well. Not a lot of complexity. Some though. Good fruit. nice balance. Plenty of time left, but I am not sure it gets much better. (1569 views)
Tasted by joraesque on 7/31/2014 & rated 88 points: Notes of blueberries and graphite on the nose, reminiscent of Washington Cabs. Past its prime on the palate, with medium-high acidity; pair with mushrooms and gravy, as in beef Stroganoff. Best within 10 minutes from opening. (1204 views)
Tasted by joraesque on 8/3/2012 & rated 90 points: Notes of blueberries on the nose initially, which morph into sarsaparilla after some time, and also faint notes of funghi (mushrooms) and warm bread. Medium to full bodied on the palate, with fresh fruit, medium tannins, and good acidity. This is somewhere between your typical, overoaked Napa Merlot, and a softer, rounder Merlot from Bordeaux. An outstanding food wine, it paired wonderfully with a mushroom tart (http://www.stfranciswine.com/recipes/recipe.asp?RecipeID=177). Peter Rosback, Sineann's winmeaker, really knows how to make the best out of his grapes! 14.6% ABV. 89-91 (1518 views)

Merlot

Merlot is a dark blue–colored wine grape variety, that is used as both a blending grape and for varietal wines. The name Merlot is thought to be a diminutive of merle, the French name for the blackbird, probably a reference to the color of the grape. Its softness and "fleshiness", combined with its earlier ripening, makes Merlot a popular grape for blending with the sterner, later-ripening Cabernet Sauvignon, which tends to be higher in tannin.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
