| Community Tasting Notes (average 85.4 pts. and median of 87 pts. in 6 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by Ncjordan on 2/11/2014 & rated 77 points: At first this wine displayed a distinctive slightly rotten vegetal character on the nose that then transferred to the palate. Perhaps I got used to it as I continued to drink, but the off putting taste neutralized, after 40 min or so, and allowed the very lovely nose of red roses, flowers and berry red/purple fruit. Quite sensual bouquet. Still slightly downtrodden in the mouth compared to the beautiful aromas from the wine. Good acidity, mild tannin, short finish. Interesting varietal. Can see why it's used for blending... (1518 views) | | Tasted by Chateau du Fey 1994 on 11/16/2013 & rated 90 points: nice but perhaps a little simple. Short finish. not overly fruity. good balance. Spice, pine, and sage. Smells like a Christmas tree! (1630 views) | | Tasted by snarfglk on 9/6/2013 & rated 87 points: Kind of flat and boring; not much pizazz. (1674 views) | | Tasted by nlassow on 12/7/2012: Agree with JDK. Bright crisp coloring, great acidity, and not overwhelming on the palate. We drank it with pizza and regret not having a 2nd bottle. (2064 views) | | Tasted by JDKWines on 9/11/2012 & rated 90 points: Bright purple, clean and sharp all around. Nose was rich with bread, wild spice and mixed berry. Dry, medium to high acidity, completely alive with sage, sour cherry, spice. Very nice finish. Good with almost anything. Superb value. (2092 views) |
