Tasted by Dyquem on 12/31/2018 & rated 96 points: Last of the case. Was absolutely surprised. Drank the last bottle in 2011. This was the best it ever tasted! Had a nice golden hue, showed good citrus, light yeast. but had this great green apple flavor! Was incredible. The finish went on and on. Just kept on chewing 15 minutes after. Everyone wanted more but that was the last of the 1998 PJ Fleur. @perrier Jouet (1931 views)
Tasted by dasper on 8/28/2016 & rated 91 points: A little past its prime. (4319 views)
Tasted by oldwines on 12/31/2014 & rated 92 points: Nice moderately yeasty, crisp citrus and tropical fruits on the finish. (6015 views)
Tasted by gabird on 11/28/2014 & rated 92 points: - Light gold color with small pearls and aromas of orange blossom. It's somewhat balanced and has flavours of apricot and grapefruit with a medium body. Polished texture with a medium finish - Decided to try one last bottle on the post Thanskgiving brunch and had a big surprise. Amazing that it held its flavor and freshness after all these years. Smooth like you'd hope for and still holding the fruit. Nice! (5913 views)
Tasted by BBinSC on 12/3/2013 & rated 88 points: Not sure I'd fully put this on the downside, but would say it's mature and unlikely to improve. Cellared bottle, showing some oxidation, fine bubbles, decent fruit, good nose, faded fairly quickly. (7269 views)
Tasted by gabird on 11/2/2013 & rated 90 points: The wine looks Light gold. The legs are Fast. It smells like a ripe Peach and tastes like Peach, and Lemon. The body is Light/Medium. The wine has Satin-like texture and finishes with a luster of its name sake. After 15 yrs the bubbles aren't quite full tilt. Remarkable retainage of its character. (5782 views)
Tasted by Fpkjr on 4/29/2012 & rated 89 points: Cellared perfectly, opened at 45 deg, worried it may be past it's prime from what I've read here- <not unfounded>
My tasting from two sips, Citrus & peach w/ hint of lemon and a floral note.

<edit> 4/30/12 After some time to recall previous tastings, these bottles while kept pristine are on a downhill side! Accordingly I'm changing my rating. Must consume the remaining three with in the next month. <edit> (5991 views)
Tasted by gabird on 1/3/2012 & rated 92 points: - Yellow color with small pearls and aromas of geranium. It's somewhat balanced and has flavours of peach and grapefruit with a medium body. Round texture with a medium finish - Most likely past prime but cellared surprisingly well for '98 vintage. Still has the citrus and floral notes. No time like a Rose bowl evening to roll out the old stuff! (4192 views)
Tasted by pfrattar on 11/5/2011: 11/2/11 - I think I drank this well past its prime. For this reason, I will not rate it. If you have a bottle, drink before it gets worse. (4228 views)
Tasted by Javachip on 7/3/2011 & rated 92 points: Lively medium-sized bead; lovely notes of apple, lemon, and fresh croissant. (3341 views)
Tasted by smorris291 on 9/30/2010 & rated 92 points: This bottle-in contrast to some other notes-had plenty of life left. Great nose with a combination of bready notes + citrus. Refined and complex. (3619 views)
Tasted by jgself on 8/28/2010: Toasting to the reopening of the pool. (3382 views)
Tasted by jonysan on 4/4/2010 & rated 90 points: Toasty and yeasty with still plenty of fizz. You could tell some of the fruit is going away, so drink now as it is still very enjoyable. Every one loved it as an Easter aperitif. (3164 views)
Tasted by jfkwines on 10/29/2009: CT was right, this was way past its prime. Too much yeast not enough citrus or florals or anything else. Last of the mohicans for us on this vintage and we are sorry to see it go off so poorly (3663 views)
Tasted by jfkwines on 10/18/2009: Slightly flat, not yeasty at all. Mild wioth a hint of citrusy lemon (3646 views)
Tasted by soyhead on 11/23/2008 & rated 92 points: tasted blind. aromatic nose - some licorice or unusual component, as well as hazelnut. Creamy in the mouth, yet good acidity. Doug tasted and smelled sauerkraut. Refined. While quite enjoyable, it seems hard to justify paying 3-4 times as much as a good entry level NV Champagne (such as Piper-Heidsick Brut NV). (3546 views)
Tasted by annerk on 11/6/2008 & rated 91 points: Green floral notes on the nose lead to a crisp yeasty blend of light citrus, a bit of sweet nut, and light toast with medium acidity on the palate. Medium length finish remains consistant with palate. Nice effervescance, light elegant bead. A very nice Champagne but poor QPR. (3657 views)
Tasted by soyhead on 10/24/2008 & rated 93 points: nose- fresh roasted nuts,as if walking by a street peddler. Mouth - marzipan and chalk, toasty and acidic at the same time. Ying and yang. Yummy. (3824 views)
Tasted by mouton45 on 6/21/2008 & rated 90 points: Too young (3812 views)
Tasted by tsedg on 5/14/2008: Mother's Day (3820 views)
Tasted by riccodog13 on 2/14/2008 & rated 90 points: Rich with floral honey suckle, carried by orange zest and tangerine. Accented by roasted hazelnut and yeast. Excellent texture and presence. Although not quite up to the level of some other tet-de-cuvees, very enjoyable. Drink now-2011. 90 pts. (3841 views)
Tasted by jeffreym123 on 1/1/2008 & rated 89 points: decent, but horrible qpr. (4087 views)
Tasted by BrianV on 12/30/2007 & rated 90 points: A little bit on the dryer side. Overall, good flavor. (3958 views)
Tasted by Vino Me on 12/14/2007 & rated 91 points: 2007 Champagne Tasting (part 2): About the same quality as the 1996 that I had 2 weeks ago. 40% Pinot Noir, 40% Pinot Meunier and 20% Chardonnay. Selling for $100 at this tasting. Loaded with red fruit notes. Very floral with a sharply focused almost stinging bead. 91 points. (5070 views)
Tasted by KeithAkers on 12/8/2007 & rated 91 points: nose: nice clean crisp nose with some green apple and lemony citrus elements. maybe also getting a bit of fig on the nose too

taste: real nice feel on the mouth. crisp and medium bodied with that good effervescance on the mouth. Some more green apple and a bit of lime

overall: really nice crisp finish to this. a really nice champagne (4001 views)

Perrier-Jouët

Producer website
Perrier-Jouët was founded in 1811 in Epernay by Pierre-Nicolas-Marie Perrier and his wife, Adele Jouët. One of the most prestigious houses in Champagne, the firm was shipping wine to Great Britain by 1813 and to the United States by 1837. Perrier-Jouët owns 266 acres of vineyards in Champagne, with an average rating of 95%, and is known worldwide for its consistency of style. By the end of the 19th Century, its Brut cuvées earned the reputation of nobility and prestige that continues today. Perrier Jouët's glamorous "Cuvée Belle Epoque", known in the United States as Fleur de Champagne, was launched in 1969 and has become the most important cuvée de prestige to appear after World War II. The bottle is adorned with enamel-painted anenomes originally created by Emile Gallé in 1900, but the wine is as famous for its taste as it is for its beautiful packaging.

Champagne Blend

"Champagne blend" is a classic grape blend that typically includes Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and/or Pinot Meunier in any proportions.

However, this blend can also include Arbane, Fromenteau (Pinot Gris), Petit Meslier and/or Pinot Blanc as well.

France - When it comes to wine, France stands alone. No other country can beat it in terms of consistent quality and diversity. And while many of its Region, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne most obviously, produce wine as rare, as sought-after and nearly as expensive as gold, there are just as many obscurities and values to be had from little known appellations throughout the country. To learn everything there is to know about French wine would take a lifetime. To understand and appreciate French wine, one only has to begin tasting them. Sub-Region:

Champagne - The French region of Champagne (including the cities of Rheims, Épernay, and Aÿ) was the first region in the world to make sparkling wine in any quantity. Today, the name of the region is synonymous with the finest of all sparkling wines, and wine-making traditions of Champagne have become role models for sparkling wine producers, worldwide. Surprisingly, the region of Champagne is now responsible for only one bottle in 12 of all sparkling wine produced. Styles of champagne range in sweetness ranging from an extra brut or brut 0, to the basic brut to demi sec to doux; some houses produce single vintage champagnes and others produce non-vintage (or incorporate wines/grapes of multiple vintages), often to preserve a specific taste; combinations of grape varietals; and colors, including a rosé. There are several sub-appellations, including the Valley of the Marnes river running from Épernay west, Massif de Saint-Thierry north and west of Rheims, Valley of the Ardre, the Mountains of Rheims (between Rheims and Épernay), Côte des Blancs, Côte de Sézanne, and Côte des Bar in the South. Champagne wine only uses three grape varietals (cépages): Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.
