Tasted by Finare Vinare on 8/10/2021 & rated 93 points: L. 09 - so a solera of the vintages 2005-2009. No date on back label, but probably disgorged in Spring 2013. Nicely developed with complex aromas, vertical structure and brilliant acidity. A great experience of aged Laherte. Should keep for several years more. (Disclaimer: ITB with Swedish importer Vin & Natur) (1245 views)
Tasted by arvidpalmqvist on 9/3/2020: Candied fruit, orange marmalade, biscotti, biscuits, bruised apple, quinine, grapefruit, minerals. Quite complex and long in a vinous and elegant style, Lot.09 (solera 2005-2009). All 7 grape varietals leaves me humbled and intrigued at the same time. (966 views)
Tasted by guitarguy on 10/22/2016 & rated 90 points: A nice mouthful of baked apples, lemony mineral, fine bubbles and caramel notes. Drink now. (1491 views)
Tasted by Hansen73 on 5/29/2016 & rated 88 points: A bad bottle, oxidized (2124 views)
Tasted by CamWheeler on 5/23/2015 & rated 88 points: Blind Champagne Tasting: Very floral, lemon, orange peel and light toast. Good acidity here drives the palate and it is crisp but not harsh. I wouldn't mind a touch of dosage here to soften but I was happy to drink it. (2834 views)
Tasted by Sheila62 on 1/11/2014: L.09-I really like this 7 varietal champagne (18% Chardonnay, 14% Pinot Noir, 18% Pinot Meunier, 8% arbanne, 15% petit meslier,17% Pinot Blanc and 10% fromenteau). Typical Laherte champagne with great focus, linearity, minerality, acid, and spice. I believe all of the field blend is pressed at the same time. In comparison to the Aubry old fashioned blend, this is elegant and regal whereas the Aubry was rustic. This is really good and recommended! (2111 views)
 Tasted by piyeh on 12/7/2013 & rated 89 points: 濃郁的榛果、淡雅的花香,以及檸檬香氣和礦物氣息,頗有複雜度;氣泡綿密充沛,入口的酸度高,口感清新而爽口~ (1971 views)
Tasted by Italiana on 5/26/2013 & rated 90 points: This note added some days after drinking this bottle, but wanted to note that it was quite attention getting and enjoyable--one of those wines bought too cautiously -- wishing now I had bought multiple bottles. Oh well, just have to console myself with Selosse and Krug. (3544 views)
Tasted by yofog on 3/5/2013 & rated 92 points: Pretty serious, with almost a chewy texture...I suppose in the sense of vinousness, 'cause it wasn't any less fine for its chewiness. (3660 views)
Tasted by defigio on 12/31/2012 & rated 86 points: A bit schizophrenic, with fruit, mineral, herb, and floral notes competing in the glass. Gives way to a mineral finish with length, but not entirely pleasant. Might try again paired with crudo instead of on its own, but generally disappointed with the structure of this one. (1926 views)
Tasted by CamWheeler on 11/2/2012 & rated 87 points: William Downie Dinner (Sydney, Australia): Green apple and pear with some slight florals as it warms up. With piercing acid, it is very clean but there is not much more to the palate. (4270 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 7/30/2012 & rated 91 points: Chablis 2004 Shootout...Raveneau, Dauvissat and Fevre...Top Vineyards (L2O - Chicago IL): A fascinating field blend of both typical and non-typical Champagne varietals, this shows great green apple and lemon aromas, then the same on palate. Lean and mineral-driven from start-to-finish, this has great energy and nuance. I brought this as the Champagne for our Chablis dinner because of its "les Clos" name," but really enjoyed it far more than for just that novelty element. (4978 views)
Tasted by rosesandthorns on 2/16/2012 & rated 88 points: This Extra Brut has bright acidity and lemony nose but also has and weighty though fleeting honeyed flavor with some toasted hazelnuts and a warm yeast biscuit on the mid-palate. Tasty dimensions to this wine. Enjoyed it and if it wasn't a school night I would have had another glass. I just kept thinking while drinking this bubbly that it would go well with shrimp dishes simply prepared in butter and garlic sauce or mushroom turnovers, crab and bacon bites. (2363 views)
Tasted by celtic67 on 1/25/2012: 2hrs of air in bottle. beautiful & complex on the nose, alternating between red pinot fruits & citrus w/greener herbal aromas. the "other" varieties really add another dimension. bright & crisp on the palate with extreme chalky notes on the finish. awesome wine. (3695 views)
Tasted by DRod on 8/27/2011 & rated 91 points: Pale yellow. Nose of fairly rich apple and brioche, apple pie almost, nice hit of fig. Smells delicious. On the palate it tastes a lot like it smells. Apple pie with fairly fine mousse, good acidic structure. Again that lovely fig, touch of vanilla. Persistent finish of similar. Delicious. 91+ (2944 views)
Tasted by Don Roz on 2/19/2011 & rated 90 points: wow u really taste the different grapes in your mouth, one after another. very special stuff. really fresh to drink. acidity on the end is a bit nervous, i reckon this will be finetuned if u keep it 2-4 years in the cellar. edgy stuff and needs food as company. (2641 views)
Tasted by Jossik on 2/3/2011 & rated 87 points: Naso chiuso e forse inizialmente troppo fruttato, poi escono note agrumate ma non mi convincono. In bocca invece è affilatissimo, gran spalla acida e bella lunghezza. Molto molto indietro, da aspettare (2928 views)
Tasted by Nursing a Hangover on 1/3/2011 & rated 89 points: citrusy nose and palate. quite crisp and refreshing as a starter (3006 views)
Tasted by Heynetty on 12/31/2010 & rated 91 points: A: Straw color with a fine mousse
N: Soft summer pudding and victoria sponge. Its like comfort eating via the nostrils. JTH got green banana, marzipan, woody coffee cream, brioche and pecan shells. I have summer fruit, gentle vanilla and light honey.
P: This is bizarre. Its like the 'DRINK ME' potion in Alice in Wonderland. Chocolate coated hazelnut, apple, summer fruit pudding. Acidity is integrated, not piercing but there. Lots of red fruit. JTH has cranberry and Xmas cake. The body seems quite light but the flavor is concentrated and dense. Complex and lovely. When the wine warms a little the caramel and pecan comes out a little more according to JTH. Alcohol 12.5%

C: No dosage or MLF but gorgeous. The balance of fruit and acidity is great. The alcohol is integrated, the finish long, the intensity is great and complexity very apparent. Outstanding quality here. Has the 7 original champagne grapes. The usual suspects and arcane, petit messlier, pinot blanc (or pinot grease as JTH likes to call it- haha!).

Was about $60 from The Sampler in London, UK (565 views)
Tasted by LoireFan on 12/21/2010 & rated 91 points: Maybe 92. Quite citrusy, but this didn't distract from the pleasure. (3021 views)
Tasted by br on 9/25/2010 flawed bottle: oxidized (3223 views)
Tasted by trister on 8/16/2010 & rated 91 points: Honeydew, citrus. Crisp and clean. An excellent accompaniment to a wonderful evening, start or finish. (3247 views)
Tasted by Jossik on 5/28/2010 & rated 86 points: Bella bottiglia con grande acidità, beva compulsiva e profumi interessanti. Aperitivo sferzante e dritto (3033 views)
Tasted by bodulations on 5/19/2010: Medium lemon green color.

Honey, lemon, honeydew, mint, apples, grapey and weirdness coming from the 7 cepagés. Overall a very youthful nose.

On the palate the mousse is lovely creamy but a bit nervous. This has an extra high pitched tart acidity that has been balanced with neither dosage nor malolactic fermentation but rather with ripeness of the fruit although all grapes were gathered the same time. The result is an incredible freshness. Weird. Minerality reminds me of stones and chalk.

Very Lahertian style with an attack and heaviness with a light body. Very pretty but sooo young! This will not please everyone. Would be very interesting to follow the development of the solera. Length is very long with a saline finish. Outstanding weird stuff but not to be drunk as a l'apero. I drank it from Riedel Vinum Sauvignon Blanc glass. (3615 views)
Tasted by Shorepower on 4/5/2010: Päron, honung och lite äpplen i doften, mineraler. Lite obalanserad i smaken, mycker mer mousse än vanligt. Syran är inte så framträdande så inget vin för lång lagring. För äkta vinnördar, ett måste, nu har man ju provat i princip alla druvor som får odlas i champange. (3337 views)

(NV LAHERTE Les Clos Extra-Brut) Champagne Dear Friends, As Easter approaches, I dangle a single word in front of you...Unique. A word that is often abused in the wine-trade but personifies the electric Champagne of this producer, this parcel is a unique peek into the looking glass that defines an individual style. If you long for a singular expression that combines indigenous varietals with an attitude that could care less about the accepted norm in Champagne, look no further than the fastidiously crafted wines of Laherte... NV Laherte Freres Les Clos Extra-Brut (2005) Laherte Freres Les Vignes d'Autrefois Pinot Meunier Extra Brut Please note: Laherte is for those with a flexible notion of their wine boundaries - if you favor something like Bollinger or Krug, stay very far away. If you lean toward Jerome Prevost, Cedric Bouchard or any of the other important young-guns, Laherte is even more extreme in their expression of the Extra-Brut style (with arguably two of the most admired wines in all of Champagne among the underground, the Les Clos and Vigne d'Autrefois). It's impossible to pick a favorite between the two wines - it's not about a 93 vs. a 90 pt score - that's missing the point entirely. Les Clos

Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos exact outline

Les Clos is arguably the finest grand cru vineyard. Les Clos has greater density and power than the more elegant Vaudésir It is a deep and compact wine. The strong mineral core is of polished steel and this is enveloped in a luscious depth of fruit. If Vaudésir is the queen of the grand crus, Les Clos is the king. It ages wonderfully – a minimum of 10 years. It’s a large sunny vineyard, (28.39 hectares) facing south. It is quite rocky and has a higher level of limestone.

It is also a vineyard in Bussières

France - When it comes to wine, France stands alone. No other country can beat it in terms of consistent quality and diversity. And while many of its Region, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne most obviously, produce wine as rare, as sought-after and nearly as expensive as gold, there are just as many obscurities and values to be had from little known appellations throughout the country. To learn everything there is to know about French wine would take a lifetime. To understand and appreciate French wine, one only has to begin tasting them. Click for a list of bestselling items from all of France.
Sub-Region:

Champagne - The French region of Champagne (including the cities of Rheims, Épernay, and Aÿ) was the first region in the world to make sparkling wine in any quantity. Today, the name of the region is synonymous with the finest of all sparkling wines, and wine-making traditions of Champagne have become role models for sparkling wine producers, worldwide. Surprisingly, the region of Champagne is now responsible for only one bottle in 12 of all sparkling wine produced. Styles of champagne range in sweetness ranging from an extra brut or brut 0, to the basic brut to demi sec to doux; some houses produce single vintage champagnes and others produce non-vintage (or incorporate wines/grapes of multiple vintages), often to preserve a specific taste; combinations of grape varietals; and colors, including a rosé. There are several sub-appellations, including the Valley of the Marnes river running from Épernay west, Massif de Saint-Thierry north and west of Rheims, Valley of the Ardre, the Mountains of Rheims (between Rheims and Épernay), Côte des Blancs, Côte de Sézanne, and Côte des Bar in the South. Champagne wine only uses three grape varietals (cépages): Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.
