(378 views) | | Tasted by AndrewSGHall on 6/20/2021: Most immaculate cork on a 21 year old bottle I've pulled. Gorgeous wine. Peak maturity with savory backbone to red cherry fruits with plenty of life and acidic spine. Herbal elements and a little smokiness. Balanced and suave. (716 views) | | Tasted by imbibe on 3/22/2020: Give it half an hour to open up and it sings. Goes from dark fruit to leather over 45+ seconds. There's some acid to keep it from ever being tedious. (868 views) | | Tasted by Rieslingfan on 2/22/2018: I purchased this on release from the winery, and held it in perfect storage since, but clearly it was too long in the tooth. Still fairly dense, it showed disjointed acidity, and a strange combination of tired, overly mature elements and overripe fruit, leading into a teeth rattling finish. The cork was absolutely perfect - no staining, solid, but the wine had gone in multiple directions at once, making for a not so pleasant overall experience. (1475 views) | | Tasted by Bill Bucklew on 7/4/2015 & rated 91 points: Very secondary nose with some Brett notes, saddle leather and earthy components, on the pallet more brambly fruit, BlackBerry, raspberry, it's a bit of a paradox in that it has acidic, red fruit mixed with slightly riper elements. Much better than the last bottle I would definitely give it some time to open up though couple hours. Minimum. (2127 views) | | Tasted by AndrewSGHall on 6/23/2015: Still incredibly primary with dark fruits and related notes. In about an hour or so, spread out with more meaty and herbal notes. Great depth. (2043 views) | | Tasted by Neecies on 3/3/2013 & rated 91 points: Black and dense in the glass. Tarry nose with some anise, and a faint eucalyptus note developes with time. Massively concentrated on the palate with black oil-cured olive and some herbs. Desperately needs more time. Too bad I only had one bottle! (2986 views) | | Tasted by Bill Bucklew on 1/4/2013 & rated 89 points: Popped and poured....soy sauce, black olive and herbal (eucalyptus) on the nose. Anise, dark cherry and blackberry, leather and bell pepper. Primarily secondary characteristics, drink up. (3114 views) | | Tasted by MC on 4/3/2010: Nice fruit and concentration. Nothing overblown. Drinking well. A- (3525 views) | | Tasted by OneLastSyrah on 2/24/2010 & rated 90 points: Wine, skiing, and snowboarding; 2/20/2010-2/26/2010 (Telluride, CO): 14.8% ABV. Popped and poured. Right out of the gate this was showing a funky, bretty horse leather nose with a touch of mint/eucalyptus. Medium full bodied with dark high toned raspberry fruit. This could probably hold for another five years or so. Seemed younger than its vintage. I had trouble getting past the nose on this wine and found it fine, but disappointing, overall. (3712 views) | | Tasted by GrandeSerataFuori on 10/10/2008 & rated 90 points: Had this for our anniversary dinner in Woodstock. Popped and poured. Rich deep color. Somewhat muted nose of earth, prunes and other dark fruit, opening up a little with air. Initially, the medium body gives way to mouth-coating tannins, in a good way, but with food this wine shines. No signs of fading after 2 hours open in the bottle. (2866 views) | | Tasted by NittanyLion on 6/9/2008: decanted about an hour - this wine was surprisingly open for business. deep dark color - lots of black cherries on the palate (1955 views) | | Tasted by Rieslingfan on 10/4/2007 & rated 96 points: This is the one wine that did not change at all from decanting. It was delicious on opening, and it was delicious when we tasted it 3 hours later. Mint, soy, berry, earth, roasted meat – you name it and it was in there, and all balanced on the tip of a tannic sword. This could evolve for decades and stay in balance. It has all that and more. This was an utterly fabulous wine. (2318 views) | | Tasted by tmbergmann on 3/27/2007 & rated 91 points: While settling down nicely, the wine retains all of the layers and flavors of previous tastings. Great wine. Hints of spcies, cherry, leather with just enough minerality to make it all really interesting. Long lingering finish. Wine could age another 5-7 years. (1964 views) | | Tasted by jbaron on 8/31/2006 & rated 86 points: Somewhat tasty, but this bottle was tart and unforgiving. Aeration did little, and I'd say that the bottle was better upon first opening than it was 2+ hours later. (2215 views) | | Tasted by rjonwine@gmail.com on 1/8/2004 & rated 93 points: Black purple color; berry, vanilla nose; big, juicy, concentrated, rich, boysenberry palate with a bit of vanilla; medium finish 93+ pts.
