Tasted by Acohen on 5/13/2024 & rated 90 points: Dark currant and medium tannin (24 views)
Tasted by Pate on 12/26/2022 & rated 90 points: User error was the main issue. Great wine but we basically popped and poured on Christmas Eve, on same day the bottles flew with me from LA to PhX. I decanted the first bottle for an hour, the second not at all. In future these need a much longer decant. Minimum of 3 hours maybe more. I think it would have opened up beautifully but for me was still really tight. (817 views)
Tasted by NebHeadLA on 5/20/2022 & rated 93 points: Wow. Decanted for 2 hours, and the wine was singing. Rich, jammy, integrated and resolved. Great. (1014 views)
Tasted by mpsocal on 8/21/2021 & rated 93 points: Big fruit with a hint of oak. Very long finish. I thought it might have been past it’s prime but after an hour or two it felt aligned. (1509 views)
Tasted by Enfant sauvage on 4/20/2020: Opened for Super Bowl LIV. This is way too far outside my wheelhouse for me to judge fairly, I suppose, but to me this tastes like very nice fruit that is completely ruined by oak. There are far worse oak offenders out there of course, but I can't understand this as a desirable style of wine. What is more, the need for all those new barrels just adds to the already stoopid pricing on these types of wines. I wish Anomaly was a Cali Cab anomaly, but sadly it's not. Also, it completely failed to bring the 49ers luck. (2410 views)
Tasted by cab blends on 10/27/2019 & rated 90 points: Rich heavy cab with hints of steel and mountain rocks in the finish.

Tasted by Millennial Drinkers on 10/27/2019 & rated 92 points: Deep purplish ruby red. Lush nose with anise, blackberries, tobacco, minerality, cassis and black cherries. Medium plus tannins (7/10) and full bodied. Lots of baking spices in the palate with dark berries. Long finish. Drink till 2027. (2481 views)
Tasted by Bluethunder on 9/6/2019 & rated 91 points: Full body with deep rich black fruit, cassis and earthy undertone. (1869 views)
Tasted by christianderivel on 9/1/2019 & rated 93 points: Great wine. Everything is there. Smooth tannins, black fruits, right balance and structure with a good finish followed by after tastes of dark chocolate. (1583 views)
Tasted by Len from Dallas on 6/25/2019 & rated 89 points: An OK wine. Nothing real special and certainly does not finish. (1187 views)
Tasted by brianofthevine on 12/2/2018 & rated 94 points: Delivering on all cylinders right now after almost 10 years of age. Lush blackberry, black cherry, and plum fruit right up front. Beautiful core of black licorice, earth, tobacco, and some subtle mineral notes. Great structure and balance to this wine. Smooth, supple tannins on the long finish that can definitely still lay down for a few more years...which is what i will be doing for my remaining stash...well done! (1566 views)
Tasted by tomoem on 11/3/2018 & rated 93 points: Had at The Angus Barn in NC from a BYO magnum. Opened 24 hours before tonight. Still fabulous and worth having. Similar notes to last tasting with dominant cherry fruit, some cassis, tobacco, and black fruits. Finish is more tobacco than fruit. (1489 views)
Tasted by cmoore64 on 8/13/2018: Big robust wine. Nice nose and smooth finish after an hour or two. Went well with rib eye steaks (1469 views)
Tasted by DGR on 5/11/2018 & rated 93 points: Needed to open up, but once it did after a few minutes it is drinking beautifully. (1954 views)
Tasted by jaysonb22 on 4/6/2018 & rated 92 points: This wasn't as good as I wanted it to be, but it was out of my custody for a bit and may not have been stored correctly. First taste after opening was dull with little to no nose. After 24 hour decant the nose opened up a bit, but not overly fragrant. Dark inky ruby color, this one was very dry with blackberry and cocoa flavors. (1642 views)
Tasted by tomoem on 2/5/2018 & rated 93 points: It's tomorrow and this wine continues to sing. What a find for the money.

Truthfully I opened another magnum for the super bowl and it was the WOTN. Expressive and laden with cassis and charchol on the tongue. Long finish with some graphite at the back end. (1579 views)
Tasted by tomoem on 11/29/2017 & rated 92 points: Built to age and at 8 years now this is approaching just now to be drinkable. PnP ..... definitely not ready with a wonderful bouquet of dark cherries. The mouthfeel at first was harsh and astringent. Restrained fruits amidst a dried closed mid palette. An even dryer finish with evident dark fruit and tobacco.

I suspect that tomorrow this will have improved. I will report tomorrow (1880 views)
Tasted by #1Winelover on 11/20/2017 & rated 96 points: Had this in Sept at the winery, had a wow moment with the '09 and this bottle reinforced my initial tasting.
Tried a glass and then decanted while drinking. Primarily black with some purple and red around the rim. Terrific smell, nice legs on the glass and primarily red and black fruit including black cherry, blackberry Nice mineral notes Cherry cola on the finish. Anomaly is an age worthy wine. I can’t wait to begin trying the 12/13/14. (2621 views)
Tasted by EMTAME on 11/20/2017 & rated 90 points: Full bodied, dark fruited, with a savory edge to the finish. Well made, but I prefer the ‘09 Beau Vigne ‘Juliet’ from earlier in the evening. (1812 views)
Tasted by Yack Man on 11/1/2017 & rated 93 points: This being a 2009 vintage, I didn’t go into this wine thinking it would be one to write home about, but to my surprise this wine is better than I expected. Nice dark beet purple red color, cassis, blackberry dark fruit, dark plum, leather and tobacco notes with some substance. This is the first time I have tried the label and I will look to acquire it again. (2370 views)
Tasted by #1Winelover on 10/7/2017 & rated 96 points: This was my 1st time visiting Anomaly. Anomaly is smack in the middle of St. Helena on the valley floor and right next to Las Piedras. Tasted with their owner Steve, and their Director of Sales, TJ. I learned about the history of Anomaly, we walked the vineyards, Steve showed me the rocky river bed that used to go right through the property, I tasted some of their grapes as they are picking today and my tasting was yesterday and boy were the tiny berries delicious! They are ready!

Had the '09, '12, '13 and '14 Anomaly. The '12 was ready by the end of the tasting, the '13 is not ready yet and too tight and the '14 would need a little bit more time in the decanter. But oh baby, when tasting the '09, you know what to expect!

The '09 is drinking beautifully right now. The terroir is right there and smacks you in the face. Full-bodied, mineral and earth notes, lot's of purple and black fruit and a long chocolaty and cherry cola finish! Kudos to Mark Porembski and the entire Anomaly team! (2596 views)
Tasted by SDJayhawk on 7/19/2017: From the anomaly spring 2017 retrospective tasting.

No one rated 2009 as a standout vintage

Their recommendation was to hold on to wines 2008 and later (1954 views)
Tasted by bundan on 7/2/2017 & rated 94 points: I have drank the 2007, 2008, and now the 2009. The 2009 was the best by far. Great fruit, excellent balance. (1683 views)
Tasted by Dale Rattles on 5/3/2016 & rated 93 points: Day 1: with a 1 hour decant, solid core of fruit, but closed and not interesting (89-90). Put away. Day 3 after Vacuvin, simply incredible (95). Black and blue fruit, secondary notes of eucalyptus, herbs and leather. Complex and delicious, with a finish that went on forever. For my next bottle, I plan to open a couple of days beforehand, re-cork and enjoy. (3011 views)
Tasted by AusTxJim on 2/6/2016 & rated 88 points: Needs more time (2520 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
