Tasted by rbfoote on 4/23/2022 & rated 92 points: Bouquet is cherry and oak (woodsy). Flavours start with cherry and plum, also taste vanilla and some floral undertones. Pepper/spice comes through at the end. Despite the age, the flavours are very pronounced and fruit is still strong. Tannins are quite soft. A very nice bottle. (405 views)
Tasted by Spot Monkey on 5/25/2012 & rated 89 points: This is a big wine - immediately the alcohol level is apparent - almost too dominant in my opinion - masking the subtleness of the wine. I daren't say it but it fast a tad artificial - for the price it just doesn't match up to the other wolf glass premium labels - is it really worth three times the price of the gold or grey label? I understand that WB is trying to create the premium product and this is a hell of a red - almost eye waveringly strong but for me I would have to overlook it on price alone. (2822 views)
Tasted by Sleepy Dave on 2/8/2012 & rated 92 points: Wolf Blass masterclass with Chris Hatcher (Tower Club): Alcohol :: 15.5%
Matured for 22 months in 100% new French oak.
Vibrant purplish. tight but perfume and fresh that display layer of violet, savory meatiness, eucalyptus essence and mint, all surrounded the really sweet intense core of dark fruits. Fresh and elegance, the 15.5% is not detected with really good mid palate depth and succulent of fruits that leads to the detail, intense, complex long finish along with the firm, palate staining tannin and firm strucured.
