Tasted by Froggyllian on 4/9/2016 & rated 82 points: The wine looks ruby colored. The legs are fast. There is no sediment in the bottle. At the beginning it has a closed barnyard smell, probably because of the screw cap, then it smells like red currant, cranberry, cherry, black pepper, bell pepper and oregano, with a hint of coffee. It tastes like cranberry, red currant, raisin, cherry, pomegranate, oak, black pepper, coffee, tea, bell pepper, oregano and alcohol/hot. The body is light. The wine has juicy texture. The wine finishes short. The wine has low acidity. (3078 views)
Tasted by Man in Black on 12/21/2014: The wine is clear and bright with a medium ruby colour. The nose is clean and developing, showing medium intensity aromas of red fruit (ripe strawberries, red currants), black fruit (dark cherries) and pungent spices (liquorice, black pepper). The wine is dry in the mouth with a medium acidity. It has medium(+) fine-grained tannins and a medium(+) alcohol. It has a medium(+) body and medium(+) intensity flavours of ed fruit (ripe strawberries, red currants), black fruit (dark cherries) and pungent spices (liquorice, black pepper). The finish is medium.

It is a good quality wine. It has a remarkable fruit concentration, but the finish could be longer. The tannins are well-balanced by the alcohol and the fruit concentration, however the wine could be more aromatically complex.

Can drink now, but it has enough tannic structure to be kept for 1-2 years, albeit it is unlikely to develop more complexity. (3954 views)
Tasted by Adventurer on 6/24/2014 & rated 85 points: An OK choice at $5. There are a couple which are better at this price but the 2010 Jacob's Creek Shiraz Cab is much like many of the $7-10 bottles I've had. Let it breath for about an hour. A well integrated average wine. (4547 views)
Tasted by asajoseph on 10/16/2013 & rated 74 points: Don't know what I was expecting from this wine, but I see nothing to really recommend it apart from the price. It wasn't awful, and whilst it had a bit of Shiraz spice & body, and a fairly long finish, there was almost no real flavour on the palate.

Cheap wine doesn't have to be this dull. (5233 views)
Tasted by scottyggg on 8/25/2013 & rated 85 points: Pepper/licorice bite with a rounded array of fruit on the nose - primarily cherry and blueberry. Nice colour, not particularly syrupy. Decent balance of fruit and acidity. Crisp aftertaste with a little lingering dryness. (5616 views)
Tasted by cliffkol on 7/26/2013 & rated 86 points: Good for a grocery store wine. Flavors of cherry, dark fruits, a bit of earth. Thin to medium body, a bit of a finish. Would serve to company. (2888 views)
Tasted by Henman on 5/30/2013 & rated 84 points: From a small (187ml) bottle. Ripe, a bit confected dark fruit on the nose. Light to medium bodied, a bit thin and harsh, delivering some ripe and sweet dark fruit with peppery and liquorice notes. The alcohol seems to push through, giving it a slightly harsh touch. Overall, a mediocre to decent quaffer. (2582 views)
Tasted by mjrhomberg on 4/12/2013 & rated 81 points: Uninspiring .... Nothing to note other than price point of 4.99 a bottle. Wine is thin with some cherry notes and a short finish to boot (1950 views)
Tasted by Jkkiehl on 7/7/2012 & rated 90 points: Very good for a red wine from a family that usually prefers white. Not overly sweet or dry. Nice, bold flavor. (2081 views)

Jacob's Creek

Producer Website

Cabernet-Shiraz Blend

A very popular blend in Australia-particularly from South Australia, where the two varietals work well together. The most famous of these would be the Penfolds Bin 389, considered Australia's most cellared wine. In years gone by this was referred to as "Baby Grange" as some of the wine used barrels from the vintage of Grange.

The 2018 Paternus states only McLaren Vale Shiraz (no Cab Sav).
