Tasted by timewithwine on 2/3/2013: Well, these wines didn’t last long, did they! With oyster stew. The wine is too big for the dish, but still, oh, so fun. (146 views)
Tasted by timewithwine on 12/31/2012: Just as always with chicken at the Stonewall Jackson for the FCM Gala (sneaked it in). (139 views)
Tasted by timewithwine on 12/15/2012: Yeah, that baked apple thing is going stronger and the yeastiness is growing. The finish does offer up some lemon oil and lemon zest. Oh, Yeah! 14.9% alc. With spiced shrimp and assorted cheeses during the tree trimming gathering with the Smileys, Dortons, Steve Kite and Kate Saxman. Recommended. (139 views)

The Chardonnay Grape

Rosella's Vineyard

In 1996, Gary Franscioni planted the 50-acre Rosella’s Vineyard, named for his wife, on their estate property just 1½ miles north of Garys’ Vineyard in the Santa Lucia Highlands Appellation of Monterey County. We have been sourcing grapes from this vineyard site since 2005 and believe that Rosella’s Vineyard, with Gary Franscioni’s exceptional farming practices, produces a unique wine representing the best of the Santa Lucia Highlands. Santa Lucia Highlands has proven to be a world class appellation, and we are proud to offer a wine from this great vineyard.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
