| Community Tasting Notes (average 93.4 pts. and median of 94 pts. in 109 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by AP MD on 1/6/2024 & rated 95 points: Drank with shrimp dinner with salsa verde and cilantro with Cajun spices. Color is golden. Wonderful nose of apple and lime. Palate is apple, grapefruit, honey, mint and lime. Great finish. This is typical of the fantastic Rhone blancs from Sine Qua Non. This is in its prime, but could also last at least another 5-7 years. (468 views) | | Tasted by Ex-Ray on 1/6/2024 & rated 85 points: Very dry Southern Rhone style but losing fruit, past its prime. Ric (525 views) | | Tasted by lesz on 12/9/2023 & rated 93 points: even my wife liked it. interestingly we had it poured initially in a large cab glass and when we switched to a normal size white glass it was much improved. (438 views) | | Tasted by jlgnml on 4/14/2023 & rated 94 points: Drank the rest from a btl Coravin end 2 months ago. Darker, almost almond color, good weight on the palate. A real treat. Drink/Hold and could buy more. (1115 views) | | Tasted by Vino Me on 10/5/2022 & rated 92 points: Opened by Allred. The 2nd time I have had this wine. Flourescent yellow color. Notes of resin, vanilla wafer and cherries. Seems to have filled out and added depth since I last had this in 2014. Full bodied with a buttery finish. 92 points. (1594 views) | | Tasted by AllRed on 10/1/2022 & rated 94 points: Our final bottle, popped & poured. Deep color. Tangerine, chamomile and orange zest notes. Deep and complex. Vanilla, citrus, cherry and melon flavors. Long finish. (1290 views) | | Tasted by Peech on 9/9/2022 & rated 95 points: Initially showing a hint of dustiness but thankfully this faded. A little metallic, a bit of flint, with caramelized sugar, bubblegum, and tropical fruits. Ripe on the palate, naturally. Later on toasty popcorn showed up. Drinking beautifully. (1285 views) | | Tasted by Simply Wine on 3/14/2022 & rated 95 points: Drinking marvelously well. Both freshness and depth, richness and cut. Beautiful Roussane driven wine. (1539 views) | | Tasted by VinhoVerde on 9/11/2021 & rated 91 points: Medium-gold color. Peaches and floral notes in the bouquet. Viscous texture. Still possesses very fresh fruit, but it’s mature. Modest acidity. Concentrated yellow fruit flavor. Lactic undertaste. Refreshing, long finish. The Moment is made from: 57% Roussanne, 17% Chardonnay, 19% Petit Manseng, and 7% Viognier. Delicious now, though should hold several more years. (1774 views) | | Tasted by jlgnml on 7/21/2021 & rated 92 points: Darker amber color. roussanne and viognier dominated nose. Good finish, just a different but exciting style. (1802 views) | | Tasted by chrisdgsmith@hotmail.co.uk on 9/3/2020 & rated 95 points: Fabulous deep gold colour and viscous legs. Heady, penetrating nose, so rich and exotic. Incredibly rich on the palate yet finishes with a touch of austerity before lingering with that exotic range of flavours for ages, so persistent. I can't argue with the assortment of exotic flavours noted by other tasters. Brilliant. On further reflection, it reminds me of a Guigal Condrieu 2016 with the volume turned up! (2480 views) | | Tasted by G_H on 7/30/2020 & rated 94 points: Apricot, yellow plums, slightly floral, honey, unripe papaya, pineapple, opulent and rich, medium length (2382 views) | | Tasted by wineismylife on 6/3/2020 & rated 94 points: WIML94
Tasted non blind. Opened and served immediately. Followed over about two hours.
Light yellow to yellow color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of orange rind, persimmon, nutmeg and wet stones. Flavors of tangerine, lemon, cherry and minerals. Bright acidity, full bodied. Drink or hold. I'd lean towards drink. (2364 views) | | Tasted by markcic on 4/22/2020 & rated 93 points: We took from the wine cooler and pnp'd. We probably should have decanted for an hour to let all the flavors intergrate and shine through. Stone fruit on the nose. Color of golden yellow. The palate was a marriage of apricot and orange marmalade with hints of melon. The finish was long and lingering. Served with our dinner of crab stuffed flounder. (2149 views) | | Tasted by Minnesota on 10/21/2019 & rated 94 points: Decanted 90 minutes prior, drunk from Riedel Vinum Sauvignon Blanc stemware. Vastly superior to bottle consumed couple months ago. No hint of oxidation despite deep yellow coloration. Just enough minerality to balance cornucopia of citrus and stone fruit notes. (2638 views) | | Tasted by jsmorris707 on 4/4/2019 & rated 93 points: Similar to prior notes after SO for an hour, deep gold, viscous; very good, had at boys night at my house, nice way to start (2658 views) | | Tasted by tcarter on 12/27/2018 & rated 94 points: Really nice but doesn’t hold up to some other recent vintages like the Kolibri IMHO. (2562 views) | | Tasted by Zweder on 9/2/2018 & rated 94 points: The bouquet is a bit locked a and at the same time showing some yellow fruits and quite complex. On the palate a very tasty wine with a pleasant touch of sweetness, good acidity and minerals, an enormous length. Beautiful and mouth filling wine. (3000 views) | | Tasted by VlgJeff on 8/27/2018: Rather dark gold in color when decanted. No nose to speak of. Initial palate showed only touches of lemon and stone, but with outsized acidity. Not much change after 30 minutes in the decanter. I'm thinking this bottle was in the advanced stages of oxidation, and so will not rate. (2912 views) | | Tasted by Geoff on 8/22/2018 & rated 95 points: Dark yellow color, complex nose, great mouthfeel, very compelling with melon, fruits and perfect balance, nice acidity. Very nice wine! (2530 views) | | Tasted by csimm on 8/4/2018 & rated 92 points: Sine Qua Non (SQN) Magnum Extravaganza + Bevan, Mike Smith, Sparkling/Champagne, and others (Calistoga): From magnum. Quince, lemon peel, lemon seed, and white rock. Fairly bitter and linear, this wine never fully came around for me, even with hours in the decanter. It was good, but missing some of the “wow” factor I usually associate with SQN’s whites. Stayed in second gear all night.
Hold for another year and hope the fruit still stays fresh enough after 2019/2020. (4516 views) | | Tasted by bonedocnine on 5/24/2018 & rated 92 points: The whites from SQN are not always my favorites but I really enjoyed this one. Obviously rich but it handles it well. Certainly the mouthfeel and taste are all about the rhone. Drink up but has no evidence of decline currently (2255 views) | | Tasted by Rosengoo on 3/24/2018 & rated 91 points: This was drank at a local restaurant after chilling and without decanting. The wine was clear and mid golden in colour with a nose of honey and some butterscotch. In the glass was a very smooth and balanced wine with some citrus flavours mixed with butter and honey flavours. No flavours were particularly in the forefront here but it had a fairly long finish. This was a pleasant bottle that seems to be in a good drinking window now. (2232 views) | | Tasted by SlimShaney on 3/7/2018 & rated 93 points: Concentrated. Golden ....can't write the next word. A bit of petrol? No kerosene. (2324 views) | | Tasted by jsmorris707 on 3/4/2018 & rated 94 points: Similar to prior note; very good (2269 views) | | Only displaying the 25 most recent notes - click to see all notes for this wine... |

An Interview of Manfred Krankl - PodcastWhite Blend"White blend" means the wine is made from a blend of two or more different white varieties - or in some cases a blend of pink or red varieties that are vinified white, ie. without any skin contact. A blend of Antao, Arinto, Rouperio. USAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Central Coasthttp://www.ccwinegrowers.org/links.html
