Tasted by MC2 Wines on 7/1/2019: Return to Aus; 6/23/2019-7/5/2019 (Adelaide, South Australia wine regions, Tassie, Yarra, etc.): No detailed note here as we consumed it with dinner. Opened and decanted for probably close to an hour. This was prob a bit closer to the intense Aussie style than not although it had really come into itself with the time in the decanter. Darker fruit. More almost chewy style tannins. It was enjoyable. Really needed a big meat dish to balance. (1744 views)
Tasted by Bobby J on 1/7/2018 flawed bottle: Pretty good. Probably should have saved it a bit longer, to try it in another year or so... (1067 views)
Tasted by Collector1855 on 10/7/2016 & rated 91 points: Dark purple. Nose of red and black fruit, bonbon, ripe but a bit foresquare. Lots of raspberry and strawberry on the palate, added a bit more aromas of earth 1h after opening. Nice but a touch too sweet for me. (1724 views)
Tasted by chatters on 5/13/2015: Kaesler tasting (United Cellars, 100 William Street, Sydney): Slightly cheesy, funky, meaty notes…not out of condition, a little hollow in fact, muted black berry and currant fruit, lightly spiced. With time cream, chocolate, vanilla and slightly rubbery notes with time. In the mouth the wine is quite juicy and savoury with concentrated black fruits and plain chocolate notes then slightly chalky and course, drying tannins and a certain coolness to the palate from rather a lot of alcohol. Hmm to Meh for me. it's a bit out of whack. (1750 views)
Tasted by Bobby J on 4/27/2015 & rated 85 points: Big and bold but perhaps a bit bitter (1411 views)

Kaesler Shiraz Alte Reben

Alte Reben, meaning ‘Old Vines’’, demonstrates of the power and flavour of the older vines from the Kaesler estate. This wine is produced entirely from grapes grown in our Marananga vineyard planted in 1899. Not many can boast custody of a nine acre, single vineyard of Shiraz planted in the nineteenth century – we make the most of it. The wine is aged in new French oak Puncheons.
