Lots of herbs, olives and paprika on the nose. There is also plenty of warm fruit, plums and blackcurrant dominating. Some nice funky aromas of paint and tar.
Round, medium acidity, good fruit and an almost full body. Some astringent tannins give a nice structure to a very nice wine. And good QPR as well! (2004 views) | | | Tasted by yofog on 9/4/2014: Bright and stony with distinct herbal/pine notes and a little blood, you can really tell there's some cinsault in here. Peppar (surprisingly as it is only 20% Syrah), olives, some barnyard, oak and butter. Lots of fruit, medium acidity, full body with distinct tannins. On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.
A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.
