Tasted by Millennial Drinkers on 5/13/2018 & rated 90 points: Deep brick red with brown edges. A bit of leather on the nose with dark plums, a little burnt cherries, bark and touch of potpourri. Medium dry tannins (5.5/10) and medium bodied. Acidity is a bit high on the palate with notes of dark raspberries, leather, cherries, sandy and stewed fruits mixed with baking spices. Long and dry finish. Drink now.

Doing well for a 21 year old wine. A little tired with the acidity taking the lead and taking it a little bit past the peak. Definitely fun to try. (2012 views)
Tasted by cab blends on 5/13/2018 & rated 91 points: After half an hour the nose is great - Tobacco and integrated.

If I was tasting this against other 21 year olds it would probably be a 95.

Cherry and raspberry and nice medium body T6 (2058 views)
Tasted by warrenpeace on 1/11/2018 & rated 96 points: What a great wine ! The fruit is fully present yet the wine has great structure. Finish sails on for at least a minute. Drink now or over next 5 years (2069 views)
Tasted by G_H on 11/4/2017 & rated 95 points: Banago, nice sweetness, chocolate, blue berries, horse sweat, vanilla, , some mentol, extremely warm, plums, amazing (2251 views)
Tasted by RR47 on 5/21/2017 & rated 92 points: Very alive, balanced throughout, blackberries, blueberries, earth, tobacco, long finish. Wine of the night for 6 guests. Cellared correctly since release. (2402 views)
Tasted by Quiet Lion on 10/26/2016 & rated 91 points: Nicely aged but too much sweetness and sawdust to merit a higher score. Perhaps on the downside. (1292 views)
Tasted by iamandyc on 6/29/2016 & rated 92 points: Beautiful aged wine that is silky and balanced. Nose of fruit, sweat and vanilla. So smooth upon entry with black cherry and blackberry fruit dominating. A bit of mocha and tobacco on the finish. Ample acidity and finely grained tannins to give some energy on the finish. (1472 views)
Tasted by Abologna on 11/14/2015 & rated 93 points: Deep purple w/ concentrated blueberry and vanilla pouring from the glass. Palate is full of juicy dark fruits with blueberries leading the pack with vanilla and spice backing it up. Glossy mouth feel ... Well structured with a long dry finish. This wit is in its prime ... Drink now!! (1637 views)
Tasted by Zweder on 7/4/2015 & rated 92 points: Regular dinner group (By Me @ van der Dussen): Concentrated bouquet with very ripe dark forest fruits, cherries and sweet spices. On the palate ripe dark berries as well, a lot of sweetness, sweet licorice, coconut, sweet spices again, some coffee, good acidity and round tannin. Completely ready now, but no real hurry. (2056 views)
Tasted by RR47 on 12/17/2014 & rated 92 points: Dark red, light bricking. Immediate nose of blackberry and coffee. Open for 15 minutes, first taste: Good dark fruit, light coffee, and beautiful balance and structure throughout. Ends with soft integrated tannins and enjoyable acidity. Easily 5+ years left. Cellared correctly since release. (1799 views)
Tasted by no leashes on 8/2/2013 & rated 91 points: Delicious dark fruit, tobacco, leather and earth. Medium bodied, integrated tannins. (2479 views)
Tasted by Zweder on 4/6/2013 & rated 92 points: Concentrated and lush bouquet with a lot of good cherries. A mouth filling wine with a lot of sweetness, good spices and soft but still powerful tannin. A beautiful, lush and complex wine, although the alcohol shows a bit in the finish. (1722 views)
Tasted by Old Vino on 2/7/2013 & rated 94 points: This bottle was considerably different from previous one - more mature and well aged. This still is relatively young and could go on easily past 2020+ (2304 views)
Tasted by affordableCollector on 1/24/2013 & rated 91 points: dark red in color. black fruit, plum, blueberry, spice, licorice, leather, tar, cotton candy, on the nose. medium acid and tannins. (2188 views)
Tasted by Old Vino on 1/9/2013 & rated 91 points: Surprisingly YOUNG. We could not have guessed it was 15 years old. Dry sour-cherry, packed with fresh red fruit. Very lovely. Would try the only bottle remaining in cellar by 2020. (1963 views)
Tasted by charleshetzel on 12/19/2012 & rated 90 points: still tons of fruit, great structure, enjoyed that Rutherford dust from this Rutherford Hillside fruit. We love the aroma of blueberries, dark cherries, and hints of chocolate. This wine has 5 years to 7 years left on it. (2138 views)
Tasted by heirloomcreative on 12/25/2011 & rated 94 points: Fantastic bottle of California Hillside wine. Medium plus body, fruit has integrated beautifully with the alcohol and acidity is still strong [not tight thought, rather balanced]. 30 minutes in the decanter woke her up and MAN DID THIS WINE SHINE! Consistent notes of blackberry, strawberry and currants intermingled with tobacco [loose and dried], tahitian vanilla and juniper berry. Eucalyptus and birch wood held up an angle of aroma I hadnt encountered since my last visit to the coastline...the medicinal, sage like, herbed core wound everything in a beautiful tight package...really a knockout! Wonderful food wine or alone, with hours 2-3 from opening being absolutely magic...just wish another bottle had been available then as it became irresistible to not finish. (2467 views)
Tasted by jinks on 6/25/2011 & rated 96 points: Tasted non blind alongside 4 other 90s napa cabs/bord blends.
WOW, never had this wine before. This is the shit and it still seems youthful. Dark purple, no bricking. Dynamic and focused aromas of white chocolate, cassis, berry fruit, leather, and butterscotch. Still giving full fruit flavors, good structure and plenty of tannins. A tiny bit tart on midpalate. Great finish.
1st out of 5 this night, beating CSS, profile, cakebread and viader. (2346 views)
Tasted by mappleton on 4/9/2011 & rated 96 points: - Flavours of dusty and black currant - Just fantastic. Much more rustic and balanced than many other over the top 97's. Stunning (2539 views)
Tasted by eschuldt on 5/31/2010 & rated 90 points: Nice oak backbone to a wine that seems to be on the way down, fruit is tasting slightly sweet/stewed at this point. (2345 views)
Tasted by wpd on 10/18/2009 & rated 92 points: Deep purple. Sweet fruit like currants, berries, on the palate nicely balanced with touch of cedar. Soft tannins intergrated with good acidity. Drinking at its peak. (2216 views)
Tasted by llink on 7/18/2008: Popped and poured. Nose of VA, acetone mixed with. some currants and cedar. Palate is still young and has good acidity and refined but obvious tannins. A little velvet on the palate. The VA is a real detractor for me, it was not undrinkable but is also not nearly the wine that it should be. (2431 views)
Tasted by WineForRob on 2/27/2007 & rated 92 points: Still a young wine to me. Nice dark berry nose with some spice. STill strong tannic structure and a wonderfully smooth finish that had great length. I think this should still sit a few more years for best drinking. (3006 views)
Tasted by Ibetian on 11/5/2006 & rated 92 points: Complex nose of red cherries and rasberries, with a wiff of smoke. Smoothe, with a nice, lingering finish. One of the better wines of the strong 1997 CA cab vintage, drinking at its peak now, I'd say, but will probably last a few more years. (3026 views)
Tasted by AZ Wine Lover on 5/1/2006 & rated 85 points: Not good at all (3029 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
