Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 84 pts. and median of 84 pts. in 1 note) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by concorde on 11/8/2016 & rated 84 points: A vibrant wine that has high expectations, but ends up falling just short. A worldly palate with a feminine touch, this wants to excite me, and I was totally into it as I pulled the cork. As I tasted it, I realized that it wasn't going to bring me where I wanted to go. The structure is there, as is the solid winemaking. This would have been a spectacular wine had it been allowed to show its true potential. Unfortunately it was cut short by a bitterness and a desire to go back to the old days before femininity was allow to display its greatness. I will continue to enjoy the wine, even though I know that this is the last hurrah of this bottle. It did well for the effort, unfortunately expectations were set entirely too high. (818 views)

Varietal character (Appellation America)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.
