Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 90.5 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 57 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Burgnick on 2/13/2024 flawed bottle: Slightly advanced for what its supposed to show. Champagne-like nose. Lacked acidity on the palate. (465 views)
Tasted by The_Cat on 11/5/2023: 92 pts. Golden color very complex and exuberant nose medium to full bodied was probably 3-5 years more vibrant. Consume now! (459 views)
Tasted by vinkeger on 8/5/2023 & rated 85 points: Rekondisjonert flaske. Sjekket og rekorket hos produsenten.

Lansert i 2019.

(777 views)
Tasted by Peter Z. on 5/15/2023 & rated 88 points: Too much evolution for my preference (796 views)
Tasted by G SQUARED on 3/19/2023 & rated 94 points: Still remarkably fresh. Give it about an hour in a decanter (879 views)
Tasted by vetty on 11/18/2022 & rated 90 points: cooked fruit, oxidation. over the peak now. (1091 views)
Tasted by BradE on 10/28/2022: Corton Charlemagne and Rousseau Chambertin: Showing it's age but in perfect shape. Started slow, but opened quite nicely after half an hour and really blossomed. Very good. (1259 views)
Tasted by beatles on 8/24/2022 & rated 90 points: Has peaked, judging from this bottle; honey, minerals here, but this is fading into a stage of old age. Enjoyable, interesting - not more.
#GutHermannsberg (1389 views)
Tasted by Jammy Wine on 6/16/2022 & rated 90 points: This 1993 Bonneau du Martray Corton Charlemagne (ex-Domaine in 2019) is big boned yet posses refinement and refreshing acidity. Flinty crushed rocks, yellow fruits and citrus.
Full bodied, bone dry with a lactic finish. Drink now - 2024. Fully matured. Apparently this is not the freshest bottle from the case. (90/100) (1513 views)
Tasted by Livonietisr on 5/7/2021 & rated 91 points: Reconditioned and stright from producer. Surprisingly light medium gold color. Aromatic nose of orange peel, apple, caramel, honey. High acidity, fresh, taste of quince, lime, saline. Medium aftertaste. (1727 views)
Tasted by fcxj on 12/18/2020 & rated 80 points: Kids said smell like honey. Dead on arrival. (1943 views)
Tasted by Vstalam on 6/20/2020 & rated 95 points: 67 Pall Mall vertical (2017, 2014, 2009, 2008, 1998, 1993): Deeper yellow color, touch of oxidation on nose that blows off with a bit of air, wonderfully rich on the palate with yellow fruit and just a touch of spice and acidity that leads into a super long finish. Beautiful wine, and the wine of the tasting in my opinion. (2028 views)
Tasted by Ms. Bubblehead on 2/29/2020: Blind tasting.

Most people guessed much younger but the pineapple sensations led the more experienced tasters to Corton. This had the typical 1993 vintage ripeness without being overdone in any way, with some cream and gravel to finish off. Most definitely this wine will improve with further age. (2267 views)
Tasted by Burgnick on 2/27/2020 & rated 92 points: It started out to be very corton charlie with dried extract and pineapple slice. With time, it became very mineral-driven. Good weight and length on the palate. Martray's CC during this era (93 and before) can age for a long long time. (2157 views)
Tasted by Ms. Bubblehead on 1/5/2020: Nose was creamy, tropical fruits, pineapple and after a few hours in the glass showed more of a caramel sensation. The palate was pretty ripe and warm, but with acidity and was very enjoyable. I think it is at peak but should hold for a while. Definitely thought it improved with air. (1929 views)
Tasted by fclarity on 12/24/2019 & rated 92 points: From an excellent looking bottle, this wine had a deep yellow center and clear rims. The medium+ intensity nose offered up over-ripe apples, pear, almond paste, and white stone.

In the mouth, this wine very rich but with very firm acidity. It had excellent length. It was best after 3 hours of air facilitated more integration.

The touch of over-ripeness leaves this wine a bit one-diimensional. However, it was dramatic and entertaining. While it will last 5-10 years, I would be inclined to drink this up. (1464 views)
Tasted by Burgnick on 12/11/2019 & rated 92 points: Ripe and dense with honeysuckle, pear, melon, and caramel. Broad, rich and round with plenty of freshness and acidity. A very classic corton that can age effortlessly for many more years. (1438 views)
Tasted by DaleW on 12/27/2017: Pear, melon, hazelnut and flowers. Medium acids (round for a ‘93), good finish. B+ (1946 views)
Tasted by DaleW on 7/2/2017: Whew, a good bottle. Pear, apple blossom, chalk in a large framed package, Oak is nicely integrated, just showing in the structure and as a hint of tangy vanilla yogurt. Good finish, lovely mature CC. A- (2469 views)
Tasted by Jeremy Holmes on 6/12/2017: Fresh fruit aromas of white peach and green melon. There’s just a hint of white mushroom sneaking in. It is mid-weight, nicely balanced and cut by bright, minerally acidity. (2584 views)
Tasted by Bourgognefreak on 4/23/2017 & rated 92 points: A prime example of a white Burgundy which can stand time with honors. Clear, crisp and at the same time with complexity you only get with age.
Very good balance and minerality. Even though there are some fruity notes the dryness through the stony notes are dominant. (2448 views)
Tasted by brooklynguy on 3/11/2017: Served next to a 93 Ramonet Montrachet and I felt that this showed better. Fresh and pure, vigorous and energetic aromatically and follows through to the palate. Shows the richness and tropical aspect of Corton fruit, and entirely balanced and focused slightly smoky complex minerality. This is an entirely typical wine of this place, and it shows Grand Cru class and complexity. Excellent. (3523 views)
Tasted by hajoha on 2/9/2017 & rated 91 points: Ren og pen, men lider litt av å komme etter Leflaive. 91-92p (2150 views)
Tasted by DaleW on 2/7/2017: I've had three bottles from same lot. One was what I look for in mature white Burg, lovely and complex -if maybe a bit ripe (B+). Another at a steakhouse was oxidized and advanced. This didn't show oxidation but didn't feel as lively as the first bottle- white fruit, a little nutty, a bit stolid on palate. B- (1739 views)
Tasted by Lupodesmo4 on 6/12/2016 & rated 85 points: From a 1/2 bottle, yellow color , disappointing on the nose and palate, still lot of acidity, but very flat body and very short finish. (2107 views)

Burgundy-Report (11/1/2004)
(Bonneau du Martray Corton-Charlemagne) Relatively pale colour. The nose is open and high toned, quite pure. The palate shows a lovely blend of fat and acidity surrounding a super core of concentrated young fruit. Very long too. This will be a wonderful wine, but should still wait.

Burgundy

Les vins de Bourgogne (Bureau interprofessionnel des vins de Bourgogne) (and in English)

Burgundy - The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Cote d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Cote de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Cote de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Cote d'Or. Also included by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north.

# 2013 Vintage Notes:
* "2013 is a vintage that 20 years ago would have been a disaster." - Will Lyons
* "low yields and highly variable reds, much better whites." - Bill Nanson
* "Virtually all wines were chaptalised, with a bit of sugar added before fermentation to increase the final alcohol level." - Jancis Robinson

# 2014 Vintage Notes:
"We have not had such splendid harvest weather for many years. This will ensure high quality (fragrant, classy and succulent are words already being used) across the board, up and down the hierarchy and well as consistently from south to north geographically apart from those vineyards ravaged by the hail at the end of June." - Clive Coates

# 2015 Vintage Notes:
"Low yields and warm weather allowed for ample ripeness, small berries and an early harvest. Quality is looking extremely fine, with some people whispering comparisons with the outstanding 2005 vintage. Acid levels in individual wines may be crucial." - Jancis Robinson

# 2017 Vintage Notes:
"Chablis suffered greatly from frost in 2017, resulting in very reduced volumes. As ever, the irony seems to be that what remains is very good quality, as it is in the Côte d’Or. Cooler nights across the region have resulted in higher-than-usual acidity, with good conditions throughout the harvest season allowing for ripe, healthy fruit." - Jancis Robinson

# 2018 Vintage Notes:
"The most successful region for red Burgundy in 2018 was the Côte de Beaune. The weather was ideal in this area, with just enough sunlight and rain to produce perfectly balanced wines naturally." - Vinfolio
